I’m happy y’all are ok man! I’m really glad you didn’t have your arm out the window and nobody was hurt! Update: Just pre-ordered my “Squarebody Life Saver” shirt! I hope everyone who’s able can chip in, buy some merch, and help a brother out 👍
I really like how JD never complains when asked to perform a task. He’s always willing to tackle anything. This go getter attitude will serve him well.
My father-in-law once Laid his 87 blazer on its side in a ditch during a snow and ice storm luckily him and my mother-in-law we both basically unharmed as well and the trucks still around
The trucking industry is 1000% broken and you experienced that first hand. So glad you fellas are alright, specially JD. Shoved between two husky dudes in an '87 Chev is the safest spot on the planet lol.
As a professional truck driver, I Can confidently tell you that is not a truck driver. That is what we call a steering wheel holder. Sorry you had to meet one firsthand. Glad you guys are okay.
Those guys and other foreigners are the ones giving us drivers bad names out there on the roadway. They are always distracted or flying down the road ways.
The wagon’s sacrifice + the square body’s protection + the brotherhood of car-guys = 3 unharmed loved-ones and A saved GTO! So happy you were able to walk away from the wreck, to save another wreck!
I think the thing I love most about this channel is that as the level of frustration gets higher, the sound of the frogs outside of the shop grows louder.
Jeez. My daughter was sideswiped by an 18 wheeler back in April - turned into a hit-and-run. She didn't have the advantage of being in a square body. She was in a 2012 Ford Fusion and was hit and subsequently run off the road - she kept her head enough to swerve actively to avoid trees and sign stanchions (the Trooper responding told her as much). They caught up with the guy. Case is in litigation. I'm glad you guys were okay. Never a dull moment.
You used to require a perfect driving record to maintain and get a CDL. I'm not even sure you need US citizenship at this point which is terrifying. Half the traffic on long highway trips are semis and I'm often in classics.
If its possible, you gotta bring that old GMC back to life.. stood there like a rock and kept yall safe, fired back up and tried to kick some more ass, definitely deserving of a "revival" Also as a driver myself, take that SOB to the cleaners, he probably has a dashcam that will tell all, definitely should have a electronic log book, comb through it with a fine tooth comb, have his social medias and everything checked on his phone for distraced driving. That caliber of "driver" is overrunning and ruining a once proud and true profession.. yall be safe out there. Thanks for being my favorite channel/ personality on any paltform ever, keep the good work up dalton!
While I am glad that noone appeared to be seriously hurt, we have no idea from the evidence shown in this video that Dalton was or was not at partial fault. It is very possible that the turn signals in that truck could have failed. It is also possible that the truck driver was not paying attention and did not see his signal and Dalton did not check his mirror before turning. One thing is for sure, it is generally not a good idea to try and pass anyone in areas where there are cross roads and the truck driver should always assume that someone, especially if they are slowing down might be turning. One thing I do see more and more are people passing on the right of slowing down or stopped left turning vehicles on 2 lane roads using the right turn lane at intersections, which is not illegal in my state unless marked but I see it happen almost daily now which is scary since it can be very dangerous when people are not paying attention or the oncoming traffic also decides to make a left turn at the same time since they may not be expecting someone to pass on the right.
It looks like the driver of the truck does have a dash cam. There is something lower on the windshield and what looks to be something else near the top of the windshield. Can't really tell what they are though.
I started in 1997. It's gone so far downhill since then. I'm pulling my last load tomorrow morning, dropping off the truck in Chicago and catching a flight back to Texas. Clowns like that guy have ruined our industry. Won't miss driving at all
Lawyer the crap out of that one. I'm glad y'all are ok. I love Jim by the way. His humor is very on brand. JD is a PBG staple, and bounces off of Jim so well. Stay strong, and good luck adding another crappy GTO to the collection
I love these ones, where it goes from Sketch, to Bad, then Dalton enters the fray, takes it to momentary good, before the car just gives up and dies in spectacular fashion. Kinda wish the Squarebody hadn't met its end the way it did, but we're lucky to see the 3 of you live with only minor scrapes and bruises.
Holy crap, this video has more twists and turns than the Tail of the Dragon! Glad you're all ok, but it's funny to think that the poor truck survived 35 years of abuse only to be ended by one short PBG drive. This is the best car content channel on YT. Thanks for the hard work.
Dalton you’ve gotta get that truck back to the garage. The fans love that thing now that you guys stepped out of it safe. Could be the most meaningful revival you ever do!
"Oh my god I feel like I've been hit by a truck", wasnt expecting that and gave me a laugh. Even under the tough circumstances behind this trip you can still joke and lighten the mood. Glad you guys are alright and thank you for the consistent and REAL content. I'll be excitedly waiting for next week's content!
Ordered 2 shirts. As a truck driver I hate when idiots do this, makes us all look bad. Take them to the bank, he could've killed ya'll, and get your new shop built. Thanks for another awesome video.
These trucking outfits need to stop hiring sandal flipflop wearing steering holders.....only an East Indian is dumb enough to try to pass on the shoulder with a bigrig
I'm 64 and my dad was pretty much like you when I was a kid. Your son is *so* fortunate to have gearhead parents......he's gonna remember his childhood as good times. Most folks don't hop into a beat up vehicle and drive 3 states over to pick up "another* beat up vehicle.
"It's gonna take a while and it's gonna suck, but I'll get it." I see JD has learned the number one important trait to have when working on cars: being able to grit your teeth and power right through the suckage.
A buddy of mine had an expression for days like this: "I'm having the kind of day that would make God come home and kick his dog through a hedge". Glad you could still laugh about it and everyone was okay. Can't wait 'til next week!
Square body Chevys will always hold a place in my heart. My first truck was a 78 K10 me and my buddy spend 2 years in highschool rebuilding together, from body, paint and even a crate 350. I just pre-ordered the new square body shirt off your website to hopefully help in anyway i can. Love your videos and stay positive!
Fun to see JD getting more talkative in the videos, especially when he quickly dishes something back at ya like when you first started driving the car and there's a noise.... Dalton: "What was that?" JD: "You know what that was" and pans to the driveshaft LMAO
Thanks! I’m happy you guys are all safe after the wreck. Twenty bucks is what a movie would cost, this episode is worth every penny…better than a movie!
JD is down for whatever his dad is. He's not afraid to get right in there with his dad. Dalton cherish the time he spends with you. I'm sure you do. I can't say it enough what a good kid he is.
Inspired by you, I successfully swapped the OEM shocks on my 09 C6 wearing my POLE BARN GARAGE hat. Took me 5 hours, but damn it, I did it! And did it all with Harbor Freight tools. The car handles great and I owe it to you. Thanks for the entertainment and inspiration to get out of my comfort zone. Dirty, sweaty and tired, but Chevy wanted $1300 in labor. NOT TODAY! I will use some of my savings on merch from your shop.
JD is already a character like his Dad, and we need more of them, this channel grows on me like a weed. The low budget approach to some of the fixin they do i have applied to my own herd of clunckers, have 4 trucks, all runners and 4x4s and i rotate 3 of them as daily's, the 4th got stolen but recovered and the FN dirtbags did a # on it, it's on a slow path of recovery. PBG
Minus the unfortunate events that took place during this Vlog, it is extremely refreshing to see real people, tackle daily struggles, with real heart, real character, real language, genuine can-do attitudes, along with raw, very punctual humor.
Hoping this will cover some Casey's snacks for on the way home ;) lol glad you guys are okay. My sister, while driving my '85 K5, got smacked hard by a guy changing tunes in his Traverse. Ripped the control arms out of his car and spun my Blazer 3/4 of a rotation. We popped the tire back on the bead and drove it home, she was completely unharmed.
So glad none of ya`ll were hurt. Pre-ordered my shirt. I`ve had 4 Chevy squarebodies, and love them. I hydroplaned off the road and into a cow pasture in the `79. Drove it out and back home to change clothes, then on to work. Those trucks are tough!
"...I feel like I got hit by a truck..." LOL I blew soda out of my nose, hahaha! Glad you all are ok. I was seriously about to comment how much I actually liked the new to you squarebody when the next scene was glass in a blue truck seat. what the heck... I think I am gonna need one of those shirts. I am currently daily driving my Dads old 86 GMC High Sierra 2500.
Motor is knocking and Dalton just chillin with a cig , 1 hand on the wheel, cruising. Even if he was nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof, he looked cool as a cucumber. The best entertainment out there. That's why I buy merch , and I hope everyone else does too. Help the ole boy along.
$1,750 for that car would be WAY too much for someone else, but Dalton could use it to make memories and then use the parts to keep other cars on the road.
@@jamesdriver0317 I agree. I haul grain every fall and winter. You have to be constantly be watching what you’re doing and what everyone else is doing at all times. He gave a signal I can’t count the times I’ve had people give no signal and slam their brakes because they about to miss their turn and I have to bow it up to keep from hitting them.
Holy hell what a wild ride this episode was, very glad you are all OK, the truck driver "I didn't see you"is always the excuse, the same thing a guy said when he rear ended me in my light blue 87 Town Car on a clear summer day.
we hear the same "i didnt see you" bullshit when some idiot asshole runs into one of our school buses...... they are only 40 freaking feet long, BRIGHT YELLOW and have FLASHING LIGHTS...... if you didnt see that, you need your license revoked
@@Scottinqcyeah in my area cars run the stop signs, and almost hit a few kids. It’s almost like there’s flashing red lights to tell you to stop but I guess not 😂
Thankfully you all are OK. I hate seeing this happen because a unskilled/unqualified driver that has no business driving a 18 wheeler. A square body for the win here.
After a similar accident happened to me with a foreign semi driver, I found out that some countries have an agreement with the U.S. that if you have an equivalent CDL license in that country you DO NOT have to take the test in the U.S. These foreign guys are driving a 50 Ton death trap on our roads without having any knowledge of our driving laws, nor do they care….I don’t trust semis anymore and get the hell away from them when I’m driving in the roads every chance I get. Glad you are all safe!
Same in Australia where so many visa workers were failing the local test they allowed overseas licenses at the behest of the business council .If they maim or kill a local they can always flee back home.
“Truck Driving” schools in Florida are taking illegals coming into the country and handling their paperwork and in 9 weeks they’ll be behind the wheel of 80K pounds rolling down the interstate. Treason is not too strong of a word for what is happening in this country.
Holy cow. Glad you guys are ok! Amid all the chaos of this video, and all the others before, the young man you are bringing up shows amazing potential in the world of automotive and media. Keep up the good work.
Amazing. love that built your own floor pans using recycled old roofs. Its a COOL build and I always thought of doing the same and hesitated, but I will no long hesitate to do it myself. Well done. Liquid nails, self tappers and some welds, and you have a floor. Man, Im glad you guys were all ok. Stupid drivers in a rush to get places put other peoples lives at risk.
I literally laughed out loud when you were on the phone trying to strike a deal on another vehicle while the 460 had a "unscheduled rapid disassembly". Glad you guys made it out of that accident alright, I had a similar accident involving a transport truck, guy changed lanes directly into me, I was in a Honda CRX and I went flying sideways over a median, walked away, thank god for door crash bars.
As a poor person myself. I have been waiting to buy any merch for a bit now. It was like pulling teeth for me to pay 99 cents for your channel. But of all the RU-vidrs out there. You deserve it. First channel I've ever paid for and first RU-vidr merch I've ever bought. Pre ordered my "real steal saves lives" and bought a holey goat sticker. Glad y'all are ok with that wreck. I think that Ford died and put you into that squarebody to keep you safe. If you were still in that wagon when that happened. It may not have ended so well. Keep up the good work. And thanks to your style. I have fixed my boat...with a healthy dose of self tappers.
Thank you so much. I'm pretty proud to be the only one you've bought merch from, and I've been broke enough times to understand just what that really means... Thank you sir
ahhhhh, i cannot even begin to sort out the amount of coincidence and savvy and most probably split second driving that saved your lives on that highway. highway accidents are no joke, and neither are long haul crazy ass truckers making their time. i just recently subscribed to your channel, and it would def crimp my viewing pleasures if you had become a grease spot mr. dalton. i am very happy that you all walked away from that. holy goat! thats a GREAT SHIRT, very thoughtfu and maybe slow down on the inhaling of pesticides too, just to be on the safe side.
Victory snatched from the jaws of defeat, snatched from the jaws of victory, snatched from the jaws of defeat, snatched from the etc, you get my point. You are some guy! most would have given up looking at those floors. You overcame terminal rust, a blown engine and being swiped by a 40 tonne semi to get to where you wanted to be. Are all your days like this? Do you send merch to the UK? I want some if it makes me like you.
That's probably the same wagon that rear-ended me in my first car when I was 18. I was dead stopped in my Fairmont and he nailed me doing about 40mph. Have had a bad back and neck ever since! Slipped and cracked discs with a couple cracked and leaking fluid. Thanks old woody wagon!
Bro, am glad that nobody was hurt. And you son has a great attitude!!! Yes, I did watch the whole video. Am a big fan of you. Love the videos you do on both channels. "outside pole barn garage"
Great job welding Jess!! 👏 and If anyone thinks hydration is dumb, we were at a drag race long ago and Don Garlits over heated and had to stand in a bucket of ice water while drinking water trying to lower his body temp. Why feel like crap or risk killing more brain cells when you can just drink some yum! The Pina Colada Liquid IV is so delicious! Summer in one drink but Golden Cherry is our fave. And liquid IV saved my life once too. I drastically over heated and dehydrated and had trouble speaking. My love made me chug one and it felt like waking up from sleep coming out of it! Love that stuff and we always keep it on hand!!! Congrats for the big brand sponsorship too!! 👏♥️
Finally had a chance to watch the video. That looked scary on your end. I'm glad you all ended up safe, that squarebody did everything it could and kept you guys safe, even still had enough left in it to move off the highway. Stay safe!
JD is learning valuable life lessons: 1) Don't buy cars "sight unseen" (unless you have a You Tube channel); 2) Keep your cool, even when your engine doesn't; 3) Go with the flow, roll with the punches, and don't take life (or yourself) too seriously! 4) Carry cash for the unexpected.
TBH it's probably for the best the Wagon gave up the ghost when it did. While I trust Dalton's handy work in making something "Useable" I don't quite think it'd stand up to an impromptu NHTSA Crash Safety evaluation with a Semi. But really glad the gang are safe.
Glad you guys are ok. As a ups driver for 31 years I can say when turning left always watch the rear view mirrors and avoid that type of accident. I have avoided hundreds of accidents by scanning my mirrors while attempting a left turn. Granted the truck driver was at fault here but hey I’m just trying to help future situations like this. Yes I will be ordering a t shirt👊
Dalton is killing it in the car rebuild channel world bcoz IMO were just bored of "WILL IT RUN: videos you can only watch so many before they all seem the same Dalton fixes the whole car and even paints them nobody doing it like him. teaching Jess to weld just brings this to a new level and for a first timer I think she killed it
Being a truck driver myself I've seen most of them of that race with the foot on the dash phone playing movies or TV most likely he never seen your turn signal
16:36 People are selling Regal Jumping Spiders like that beauty for $100. Look it up. Get a macro lens and have some fun. They don't build webs to catch their prey, they stalk them and will attack bugs more than twice their size.
I’m happy you guys were ok after the accident. An epic video, the wagon with no floors, purchasing another vehicle while driving a car that is blowing a hole in the motor😂 but it sucks the truck didn’t make it. Can’t wait for the next video! Keep your head up.
"Did we just ventilate the block?" Sounds like me back in 2001 in my first car. Bought a $100 1984 regal with a cracked block in the May of 2000, put a junkyard 3.8 in it. Superbowl Sunday I'm driving home listening to the rod knocking until that little 3.8 finally opened up the front door lol. I knew the day before it was bad when the car wouldn't get past 40mph even with the pedal pegged to the floor board.
