I would rather like they redesign Ogre and small autominer so they are not so useless than adding new game modes that just force you to do even more manual mining.
"Brutal" as in it gives you very little starting resources, is there any other changes to ore gen? Apart from the changes on Mimas and Vulcan? As long as you can get yourself some iron, copper and gold you're fine, build elec-printer, make solar panels and build from there. The biggest hurdle would be power basicly.
I dont think the ore generation is affected.... yet. The release notes mentioned this was just a first pass, so I'd expect things will be tweaked before it makes it to stable
