One tip that you may be aware of, instead of waiting for your potatoes to get to seeding stage, harvest 1 out of the two potatoes to start growing your next 3 potatoes. Every little bit helps as you know with these settings. I know you're not there yet but sooner than later is always better cause it will allow you to get water production going with your O2 tank. I like the solar mod you're running, it does seem odd that it's capped at 500. I swore it used to go higher in previous builds.
One of the things I love most about this game is how minor mistakes blossom into very stressful situations. I once blew up my hab on Europa because I made a slight typo in the IC code that mixed my furnace fuel causing a volume pump to constantly run at 1L. There was a slow build up of pressure in the pipes feeding my furnace which eventually ruptured and flooded the enclosure I had the furnace in... The temperature was hot enough to auto ignite the gas mix. That was the largest explosion I had ever experienced in this game.
I know right. I had a small tank think setup with a portable tank and an ice crusher, using a filter ro get ride of the nitrogen and put it in the greenhouse for the soybeans. Well i messed up. I used an ore stacking mod, so i chuvked a full 250 strong stack of oxylite and left it running cause i got side tracked. I was installing a shower and just like. Doing idle work. When a massive explosion outside ruptured the room, killed my plants and almost me with it. Had to go grab my suit fast but i did survive. But yea wow love this game
I play a lot with a friend - and he's in charge of building the furnace. Has a knack for it. But... building furnaces can be quite a ... say learning cliff :D I can't remember how many times we had to pump out 2000°C Gas from the whole base after hearing a faint 'Oops' over Discord.
I'm wondering, what's your view on changing the suit pressure? I've done it in the past, if you take it down to 23 or 24 or so the waste gas canister fills slower. Some people see it as cheaty, but the space suits the astronauts used on the moon didn't operate at 101kpa, it was much lower, somewhere around 20-30kpa I think, so I don't see it as cheaty personally
NASA space suits use pure O2 so you only need 20-30kPa for breathing. I think the default setting of 101kPa of pure oxygen is fatal or will render you unconsious. And a suit at 101kPa would make it very difficult to move. So in the interest of staying alive, you should turn the pressure down.
@@NavyOldsaltGamer holy moley, i had no idea there was a relationship between temps and water consumption! normally, i turn suit temps up on hot planets, thinking it would save me a bit of power - i won't be doing that anymore!
@@danielhoover5169 I looked and he's deleted them! They are pre-phase change so I guess it makes sense. I'm not sure if they're posted anywhere else - you could ask on the Discord?
FYI, your Stationeers Brutal Vulcan playlist starts at episode 9, goes backwards to episode 1, then has 10 and 11. You might want to go into YT Studio and reorder the playlist. Thanks for an interesting series!
I was yelling at the screen for you to turn off your light and the printer.... Didn't help. :D I don't use the tool batteries for my suit except for emergencies. Was driving me nuts you kept using up all your power reserve and didn't leave any for emergency, say something broke (or it was night). You definitely got lucky there. I suppose you could have, if the room was at vacuum, vented a bit of O2 from the tank and turned your suit off until day time.
@@DenHvideHund Funny because that's the exact opposite when playing for me. Can't play with any of the fancy stuff until you at least have the bare minimum.
Loving the absolute desperation in your voice… cut that way too close! Might you not benefit from printing some larger batteries until such time as you have steel for a station battery and a more reliable source of power? Or perhaps you have something up your sleeve for power? A Stirling engine?
Great to see another upload, have you considered to make a playthrou at asteroid belt in near future? Tbh there are none asteroid belt gameplays with the actual game version.
From my attempts so far... I have never gotten my habitat up fast enough to spend my first waste tank in there... I always seem to get it vaccumed and stable for the second waste tank fill up... It is so brutal and quite a challenge and took me 4 deaths to get it up and running on stationeers difficulty... one time I had to scrap because I vented my waste tank near my seeds, food, and water boxes and burned them up.
Might have been able to save the O2 offgas from the gold in your pipe with the waste tank contents, but that might be something for when your base is a bit more established.
I'm up to day 30 plus on the Stationeers brutal mode in Vulcan. Had to go the trading route to survive. Really tough. I don't have the plants mode though. this will be a fun one to watch!
@@cowsareevil7514 problem with ferns is they burn twice as much Co2 as potatoes also. I am in the process of trying to cool my co2 down to room temp to release it in to the greenhouse. I am neutral now on oxygen production but my co2 is slowly dropping.
"what have I done, what have I done". Still have the flashlight on and totally forgot to charge the big battery during the day. Not much of a minmax try Mick..tsk tsk tsk :) :)
Well that was a full throttle start to a series. I don't think I've ever seen you move with that much spirit before Mick. Well unless you count the 30km/s mars incident lol. Edit: Spelling.
Hi, i love watching your series. Great job I just read in the wiki that a H2 Combustor is generating 135 mol H2O from 100 mol 02 and the Electrolyzer is converting 135 mol H2O in 135 mol of O2. Did they rebalance this?
@@TianarTruegard I usually lower my suit's internal pressure down to 20 and temperature to 10 to preserve power as well. The character begins having difficulty to breathe, but is otherwise fine.
Doesn't Vulcan have a thin hydrogen atmosphere? You should just be able to mix that with your breathing oxygen to make water. Overheating should be the issue.
O2 is the real issue. I've made it over 100 days so far with the Plants mod, but I did grab some oxcite from a trader which definitely helped ease the stress at the start. It's a balancing act right now trying to get O2 produced as well as keeping the plants hydrated. 42 regular ferns and 12 potatoes feels like an OK balance but Darga Ferns are the must have to start outpacing the water production as well as your own O2 needs.
