A really fast airlock useable in any pressure or temperature environment. Showcased on Europa.

nice video - like the way you explain things. I believe that the game looks at a cubic unit as a single area, so even though having 2 vents is faster, you could make it even faster by putting your passive vents in separate blocks

Thanks Holy. I like your thinking. After reading your comment I went straight to a game I've saved to test it out. I placed a passive vent in another "cube" and ran some very basic time tests including having three passive vents off of two Active but it didn't seem to make a difference. Admittedly they weren't very accurate tests (girlfriend using phone stop watch) but no significant decrease in time found. I would be interested in any tests you've done or any thoughts you may have ? Thanks for subscribing

@@ggfirestorm Honestly, never tried it myself - just remember watching a guy named Splitsie doing it on his channel a while back. Then again, thanks to all the updates lately, perhaps, it's no longer a thing. Come to think of it though, I don't think you'd see much of a difference in a single cube airlock anyway, only so much air in there. The ones Splitsie made were for larger airlocks. Happy to subscribe :) I'm always on the lookout for other Stationeers enthusiasts

Ok, this skips the pressurization step. If you do a standard airlock with 4 active vents it's pretty quick - and you can cancel pressurization too. For early game when you don't have reliable power, it might be worth to setup such a thing but with the power controllers you start with. Use them to turn on an off, with no vampire power draw. One thing that's annoying in Europa is that, with a normal airlock, the door will stay open when you are outside. This is a problem when you don't have insulated pipes yet, need to be very careful to expose them as little as possible. The manual airlock approach allows one to keep the external door closed. Next step for this would be to automate it with IC (or logic chips I guess). This way there would be no mistakes.

The other useful thing with it, is being able to use it for temperature and pressure control manually. See my guide on Temperature control, when, even on Europa, it gets too hot inside - and when it gets too hot the pressure rises.

Not automated and one wrong action and you will complete mess base atmosphere(Critical on Vulcano). With this you can place 1 act vent and switch it on manually.(per side)

Agreed - one wrong action and you will have to reheat or re cool the room you left. However the failsafe I have in place is that it doesn't lead directly into my hydroponics room so therefore isn't critical. But it is fast especially with higher atmospheric pressures and overall getting in and out of the base fast was my goal - one active just wasn't enough.

Is this kind of airlock good for a greenhouse on mars ?
@ggfirestorm

Shouldn't be a problem if your careful. Its what I use on every planet. However its possible to make a mistake so I usually have a separate air lock to the greenhouse inside the work area that has its own airlock (same type) to act as a buffer, especially on planets with large temperature differences.
