Learn the essentials of statistics in this complete course. This course introduces the various methods used to collect, organize, summarize, interpret and reach conclusions about data. An emphasis is placed on demonstrating that statistics is more than mathematical calculations. By using examples gathered from real life, students learn to use statistical methods as analytical tools to develop generalizations and meaningful conclusions in their field of study.

Thanks for this video. This was really helpful in grasping some main ideas. If any of you are watching this entire video without any prior knowledge, I suggest you to switch the order a bit since I got a little lost when she started talking about frequency tables without the definition. 1. watch until 02:16:24 2. then jump to 3:10:12 for ch.2.1 Frequency Tables & Ch. 2.3 Stem and Leaf Displays 3. go back to 02:16:25 for Ch 2.1 Freq Histograms and Dist and Ch 2.2 Other Graphs 4. continue with the video from 03:39:41 Ch3.1 Measures of central tendency

After a week and a half of pusing myself to understand this course, I can say that I finally finished! It really got me understanding statistics more than any of my high school / college classes, as it kind of cleared the light of what statistics actually is instead of just throwing out obscure formulas and hoping that I can piece together what they all are for.

Just wanted to say thank you. With this pandemic all classes went from in person to online. And the statistics course that I got just gave me a bunch of papers and some homework tests. And reading through papers is very boring. I got all the way up to variances and frequency variances on my own before I started to get a little lost. Watching this video broke it down a little better than just me reading the paper. So I greatly appreciate it.

If you don't have the discipline to order a 10 dollar used textbook off amazon and go through it and do the problems on your own, you won't have the discipline to learn mathematics and statistics from youtube videos. Also, a course is 3 hours a week for about 15 weeks, so were talking about 40-50 hours total per course. You would need 5 of these videos to cover just 1 stats course, and some higher stats courses require about 3 semesters of calculus first. Plus linear algebra, and some discrete math. Probability on its own requires some serious math. Some just learn on their own from textbooks, but if you could you wouldn't be relying on these videos. They are good videos tho, as a supplement to a serious course of study, but not a replacement for one. I would point out, Statistics is MATH, not CS/hacking, you can't just copy/paste other people's work all the time

I like how this lecture tried to disseminate hard and alienating subject of statistics in easier ways. I feel like statistics that are delivered through university platforms are usually quite messy and not very organized because, unlike calculus or engineering math subjects, statistics materials are very different from books to books and lectures to lectures. For example for simple topics like regression, the way some lectures explain the formula are just nightmares. Without clear explanation some lectures decide to divide some values for convenience during calculation, or use confusing names like SS, RSS for the same thing and mix naming conventions for vector, and elements of vectors while traversing through them to calculate cost functions etc. Statistics is useful, no doubt about that, but with the way they are taught in many of universities, I also got to hate statistic subjects although I did have great interests in other math and physics subjects.

one thing I learned from years of college/grad school, your learning depends on where and who you learned it from. And sometimes it depends on when you learned it. Really we should learn from multiple source, video, books, hands-on tutorials, reference manuals because everyone learn differently and frankly some source material cover the topics better than others by miles. And sometimes, a topics you dreaded by in school, is now absorbable and you actually know why that topics exist, not just for passing a test but to aid you in making your work easier and get you to go home earlier lol.

Don't know what to think about the course. I love her energy and enthusiasm and some things are explained very lucidly, at other times it's a bit to dry for me. Anyways, I just want to leave myself (and others) a useful note: If you already know about the distinction between populations and samples, skip to 4:00:00, there is the good stuff. Thank you freeCode camp for the upload

I have a question about the usage of N vs n. In my job directors are assigned certain accounts. I often see reports run for their division where we include ALL of their accounts within that division. In those reports, if we are focusing EXCLUSIVELY on all accounts within the division, would we refer to that data as the population(N) or the sample(n)? I would be inclined to refer to them as a sample, but because the scope of these reports are ONLY on this division, i could see an argument for referring to this group as a population because our scope includes ALL ACCOUNTS in this division and ONLY this division. Any thoughts? Thank you in advance :)
