I remember first hearing this when I was 16 , we had gone to a random party in the woods that some hippies put on, it was amazing, from that moment on I was hooked to 60s psychedelic 😂
The ultimate in psychedelia. A masterpiece of British pop psych bolstered with a dose of acid rock. A classic on both sides of the pond. 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 The simplicity of the guitar riff left an indelible mark on my brain. That little riff resonates like thunder in my head. SQ had many more chart hits in the UK throughout their career, but they were only a one-hit-wonder in the US, with "P0M" peaking at #12 in "68. It has always been a #1 in my mind. Trip away, HBO
I remember going to a record store and buying this magnificent tune on a 45 (on the Cadet Concept label). I played it continuously until I heard it in my sleep. I can only best describe this tune as a ride on a psychedelic carousel with mind-blowing scenes flashing past. Thanks, heavenlyblueorange, for the look back to those thrilling (and psychedelic) daze of yester-year!
Didn't really appreciated this song when I heard it on AM radio until I was able to afford my first FM stereo receiver in 1970 and got to listen to album oriented NY rock radio stations.
Always loved this song! My brother has the original Quo LP. Have tried in vain to buy it from him. It has been hibernating among his old heavy metal collection for many years. In 2018, I came across a just-released CD comp of the Quo's old work in a record shop in Cardiff, with POMM on it! So that became the one 😁... Great upload HBO!!!
Nice to see HBO tackling a *hit* psychedelic tune, rather than the brilliant obscurities usually featured on this channel. As usual, the merging of sound and visuals here is perfect. Thanks for this and all the other videos!
I’m GenX born in 1969 . Loved the heavy metal of the 80s but this is definitely heavy metal 60s style. Got my Iggy and The Stooges MC5 . This is one of my favorites with Surfing Bird
I love your videos, but I wish you would give the sources for the images, as well. Often seeing it here makes me want to find and watch the original movie, but there's no way to find out what it is.
Hey, I do a youtube channel where I review psychdelic music, do you mind If i use some of the footage on your channel for visual effects on certain songs? I won't use the entire video, and I will give credit, I do not monetize my videos, so you don't need to worry about me making any money. I simply do this for the love the genre.
