Focus on negotiating the best benefits for you. You are the commodity.
www.logikbot.com
Let's discuss the fastest and most affordable approach to attaining your for role as a data analyst.
There are two core paths on LogikBot. One for the data analyst role and one for the machine learning engineering role.
I've added the data analyst role recently because machine learning has become so difficult to break into. If you're new to IT, I'd highly recommend this path. You can be in a real-world data analsyt role in under a year if you really apply yourself. LogikBot is the most affordable and fastest way to attain this role. The platform even has an exam simulator for preparing for the exam.
For the data analyst role, you take two courses then prepare for and pass exam PL-300. This exam, PL-300, is the Microsoft Certified PowerBI Data Analyst Certification.
If you're in a shortcut role, then there's an entire path laid out for learning machine learning. The platform used by Uber and Microsoft. I worked at both companies. The courses are real-world and comprehensive. This is not the easy way. There is no easy way. This is one of the few platform that's offers a real-world approach to working in AI.

The nicest company I worked for was a school fired people with 10 years in the house because the new coordinator didn't like them. I was lucky that all the new bosses liked me bc I didn't create any problems, but I left anyway because it was very mentally draining.

I had a close friend who passed away at age 32. She was an HR director for major studios in Los Angeles. Before passing, she gave the same advice. I didn't take it and worked for only two companies in 35 years. Retired now, But give this advice to all the young people I encounter.

Mike, it's funny how recruiters and hiring managers look down on job hopping, as if it indicates you're a high risk of leaving the company on short notice. Yet it's the single-most reliable way of moving up in your career and increasing your earning potential in a short period of time. It's almost as if companies don't want to tell you what you need to know and just want to squeeze every last cent out of you, while discouraging you to move up in your career.

Agree, I’m working as a software engineer for over 8 years now. The current one is the one I worked for the longest. 3 years now. A week ago just to be on the safe side due to inflation the company made over 10 people redundant some with over 4 years loyalty to the company. No hesitation, applicable immediately. And I’m telling you my company is the nicest of all I worked for.

After 20 million layoffs in 3 months over 2020 and more layoffs more recently in 2022-23 I think more people have realized there is no such thing as job security and you should focus on money because money is real security.

If the company wants loyalty, they can pay fo it. If they're willing to pay for it, I can stay longer, integrate myself to the team and company better and develop the niche skills desperately needed. That's how careers are built. If Company refuses advancement, it has accepted to simply being a milestone for employees. A place you work at until you can find something better. A place that's never gonna get any better save for increasing capacity for more underpaid workers. Loyalty is earned, not given. If someone is willing to earn it, don't turn away from it. Knowing what you're worth is indeed key.

negotiating the highest wage is not always a the best course of action I feel like. the expectations will be incredibly high and if the company isn't stable they may look to get rid of you first if you aren't absolutely perfect. definitely some external pressure involved so you have to decide if that's what you want if asking for the very top of the budget
@thedatajanitor9537

It has been my experience that people who job hop make the worst coworkers. They’re not interested in collaborating on solutions, or even assisting others on their team. They just want to do the bare minimum expected of them, get paid and then move on. They’re more than happy to leave their coworkers high and dry when the going gets tough. I don’t believe in company loyalty, but saying “I don’t owe anything to them” should only be directed to management, NOT the people on your same level.
@thedatajanitor9537

No one cares. I'm not there to make friends, I'm there to get a job done. Job hopers do so because they can. That means, they are more technical and skilled than the lifers are.

@@thedatajanitor9537 “More technical and skilled” LOL, job hoppers are often useless for the first six months, because they can’t be bothered to learn the system. They create more problems than they fix, and then they hop.

You mentioned you already changed like 30 jobs and always as a regular in company Mike. That means you had to learn like 30 times again the internal policies of the new company (how to track your time, how to communicate bla bla). And even more you had to learn the Data Model in order to do your job (no Data oriented job can be done properly without understanding the data you work with). So I wonder whether you didn't get exhausted in years doing this? I personally usually stay in company 3-5 years, because once I learn the stuff want to enjoy it and the colleagues here in Europe are usually also very nice and friendly.
