Me too my friend. These days it's on every morning. You know how much impact bruce can have.and this one make me feel very good and yes Jackson Brown is great. By the way.awsome solo from the big man.
On this day in 1977 {August 27th} at a concert in the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD Jackson Browne recorded "Running On Empty" and "Stay/The Load-Out"... Four months later on December 6th the "Running On Empty" album was released, which contained the above two versions... The album peaked at #3 on Billboard's Top 200 Album chart, while on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart "Running On Empty" reached #11 and "Stay/The Load-Out" peaked at #20... Mr. Browne will be 65 on October 9th...
Two of the best artists, Jackson Browne never got the recognition that he so richly deserved, good song, nicer time in my life, kids now days will NEVER KNOW what great music is, such a shame
Julie Timmons People like you will never know the greatness of the era of the original song and the struggles of the original performers, Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs, who had to fight their way through segregation. Then these spoiled, pampered white performers rip off their great creations. The original singer of the falsetto for the Zodiacs died in modest circumstances after spending his later life as a truck driver.
The photo of Jackson and Bruce was taken June 12, 1982 on a stage in New York's Central Park. The occasion was a massive the anti-nuke, anti-war protest/march in the city that kicked off at around the UN bldg., made it's way across 42nd Street, then up 5th Ave., ending in the park where Springsteen and Browne performed, as well as Joan Baez and others. I was there. I have shots like this: same outfits, same backdrop, nearly the same camera angle. Good times.
David Lindley only chimed in occasionally, if he was touring/on stage. Rosemary Butler and Doug Heywood recorded the vocals, and toured on Running on Empty with JB. Saw JB in '89 at Red Rocks. DL and EL ReyoX opened,so he was there. He did the high falsetto part on "Stay",the roadies did the rest-that was cool!
