What I love about Jon is that you can see the soul in that guy, the way his head Bob's to the music, how he speaks when talking and the content of this mans lyrics prove that music goes way beyond different noises coming together. Jon is absolutely beautiful as a human being and lot more people should try to be like him.
People haven't been prescribed "Soul seeing glasses," and from what I've gathered from my time on earth, it's not something we're born with." So... You're emphaticizing a person you really admire.. (Which I do all the time)
OMFG Jonathan and Stay Human came to our school today cause his cousin is our music teacher and I fangirled beyond excessively...... we took a selfie and I TOUCHED HIS HAND .... i asked him if i could compare his hand to mine and he was like yea sure and then i touched his hand and died..... I also gave him a hug and got the whole bands autograph...........Im not exaggerating when i say that they are SOOOOO GOOOOD.... they played wrecking ball, marti gra, and happy birthday and it was so freaking awesome
I account for I think at least 10,000 of these views. Not too many performances can give me chills, but this one does. That's some fucking talent. Electric. And that sax. Come on.
You can literally hear the influence of James Booker on Jon Batiste's transitions from song to song and his adaptation of going from blues/jazz into classical and out again. Fantastic piece of work I must say. For anyone who doesn't know James Booker you should, he's the best most versatile pianist to come out of New Orleans and was Harry Connick Jr.'s personal tutor.
They're great musicians but I'm sorry this instrumentation is not for late night. Now Paul Shaffer's World's Most Dangerous Band with horn section, guitars bass, drums and keyboards. THAT"s a band because they can play ANY type of music with that. This band's instrumentation, while great to listen to on it's own merit, is very limiting for a house band to a major show.
That's also not the full band nor instrumentation they use on The Late Show though. They just need a little experience and they'll be as smooth as The Roots in no time. The 8G Band on Late Night I have less hope for though...
Carl Clancy Watch any video with Paul Shaffer's band and then one with this band, it's not even close! SH do what they do well, and each member's musicianship is awesome, but the instrumentation is thin and doesn't fit all types of music like Paul's does.
