I buy classic quality pieces at thrift and charity shops so I am always in style. This works for me. Shoes are always new as I have extra wide and hard to fit feet. Intimate underclothes are new too.
Hi Margaret, my statement piece is a scarf! I love scarves with animal or floral prints. These days the bulk of my wardrobe is made up of charity shop items. I think perhaps I need to consider treating myself to a classic item or two as my 'capsule wardrobe' then add to it with charity shop items. Oh, and I love big handbags!! 😊
Great thought on knowing our colors! Ever since my friend showed me a palate of colored fabrics and she explained how certain colors look good on different skin tones etc. it was so helpful and that explained why I felt most like myself in browns and golds and greens. By the way, I do love think the pastels as you said, really suit you beautifully. Thank you Margaret for all of your great advice and Joy ❤
In 1996, I bought a Hermes 100% cashmere, navy blue PCoat. It cost a small fortune but I have worn it every winter, all winter for 28 years and it still looks like new. Best purchase I’ve ever made! 🙋♀️🇺🇸🥰‼️
Good morning from Australia. This is an interesting topic. I am short so find that I have to be very careful not to overdress. By that, I mean what taller women wear successfully with lots of color, layers, patterns etc is very overwhelming on shorter women. I think delicate accessories on solid block color works for me. BTW, I just love love love your hat Margaret. It looks great on you.
Hi Margaret, love your new Hat, will be good in the summer or warmer weather, I like bohemian style clothes but I do like some classic pieces too!!!..I do love structured bags, as I seem to have a bit more stuff these days!!!! phones are getting bigger, glasses and prescription sunglasses, wallett for Cards, small purse for change or cash!!! i thought as I got older I could downsize but it is a bit difficult!!!!..i do love to wear black pants not a big lover of jeans!!!!...anyway its all about feeling good in what you wear isnt it?...not to mention good grooming, clean shoes or sneakers, a little makeup ...good skin care....the list goes on!!!!!..love your blogs Margaret...have been an avid watcher for many years still loving all your content thank you so much!!!!!...love from Margaret in South Australia!!!!
Thank you so much, Margaret for your wonderful comments and for reaching us from Australia. I always love to know their women in that part of the world. Thank you for being here.
Hello Margaret, I love bright coloured summer dresses just above my knees. Cosy Jennings with colourful jumpers for winter. I buy clothes out of season on line. Invest in quality flat shoes with colour. My accessories are silver bracelets and earrings.
You look great in your hat! I suggest you model it as your summer chapeau. It's perfect for sun protection and to keep you a bit cooler on hot days. Good points all around. Thank you! PS - I'd like to see us all wear more color. It brings smiles from those around you and it's a great mood booster.
Comfort is tops. And I always have white next to my face, much better than color for me. I love that I could wear peach and apricot after my black hair turned mainly white. They didn't suit me before. I do love linen shirts over white tee. My look.
Thanks for a fun video. Talking about fashion is interesting to me how we’re all different. I agree with all that you’ve said. I gravitate towards earrings and rings. Some quality, mostly costume. Bracelets next. I enjoy hats too. I’m getting dressed now and willl think if you. ❤
Love your new black and white hat 🎩!! Perfect colors that go with much and great covering for your face. Now, Margaret, you must wear and be your stylish self! 🎩🎩🎩
Jeans and tee shirts for me. But I’m trying to buy really colourful tops. I have a peach peasant blouse which I love. I’m losing a lot of weight due to the carnivore diet so I will get some new stuff for the fall and winter. Plus I need a new bra like yesterday…lol. I have to get fitted for that so I’ll have to go to a proper bra store. 🥩🧈🥓🥚 💋 from 🇨🇦
I mostly wear yoga pants/shorts and a tee shirt in the summer, elastic waist jeans in the winter. If it’s not comfortable I won’t wear it. I wear jewelry and/or make up only as the mood strikes me. Life is too short now to care what other people think of how I look. I like how I look, and that’s enough.
Shoes brought at second-hand stores not best choice as we each have a unique gate to our walk and wear the pattern in our shoes. I have found Chico Brand clothes at second-hand stores, brand new, and can layer several pieces for low fees. I like hats, brooches, long scarves. and bracelets . The scarves can act as a cover up when in air condition stores, restaurants ,etc. I so enjoy your channel. I have learned a great deal and learned to embrace my golden years because of your channel.Thank you. ❤❤❤
hi Cynthia. I am also very much like you. I don’t think I’ve ever bought any shoes at a charity shop. But I do look for scarves and accessories. Thank you so much for sharing.
I want your hat Margaret. I ❤ hats'. I travel a lot, hats', scarfs, earrings & accessories make up my travel case. Less items for my travelling clothes. Some necklaces can be a belt. 👍💕
Greetings Margaret! Lately I have been wearing a monochromatic look with more color in a sweater or kimono style cardigan. I love the idea of using vests as a layering piece! Where did you find yours? Love and blessings ♥️🙏
hi Jane. You can find them almost anywhere online. For example, Amazon has some nice ones, but I got mine from Temu. I know this controversy about them being in China, but I can afford to enjoy some other products.
My thing is Bracelets and rings. I like something that is different. I wear a lot of tops and pants. So I like the tops to be different. Bohemian styles and more. The black and white hat looks classy.❤
I love thrifting but I also stop at both shoes and intimates. These are too personal to purchase *used*. Finding your colors is very important to feeling confident in whatever you're wearing.
Your makeup is lovely today in that hat, I think I need to care more about fashion but I live on a mini farm so its pretty much jeans/shorts and t-Shirts with no makeup. Occasionally I wear some jewelry (earrings or necklaces) and my goats and chickens are quite impressed. LOL. I do dress a bit fancier to go to church.
Hello, Margaret! I agree about the shoes, but my reason may seem odd to others. The saying "walk a mile in my shoes" comes to mind for me. I don't know what sadness/pain/trials the original owner has experienced, but it just doesn't sit well with me. Unless I know the previous owner, I prefer to be first owner. Same with purses/bags--"carrying a burden". That is too personal an item and I don't know where it's been. Maybe it's silly, but I steer away from both secondhand shoes & bags 😊
It’s funny I often think about this too when I’m purchasing second hand clothing items. Sometimes that me to a product but other times that QI shy away from it. It is a very emotional experience. Thank you for sharing.
I love wearing my gold hoop earrings. Doesn’t matter whether I’m cleaning the kitchen, out horseback riding or out to dinner. I’m a petite 5’2” so I try to wear monochromatic outfits that make me look taller when going out. I never wear heels anymore. Comfort always. Most of the time, I’m a jeans and t shirt kind of girl. And yes, I always wear a wide brimmed hat when outdoors. You look great in all your hats, Margaret, but especially so in the one in today’s video.
i think spraying used shoes with disenfectant lysol spray makes them ok to wear ,,,, but usually i buy more expensive dress up shoes, like fancy type from charity shops,,,, most i wear sneakers or flats,,, I like pocketbooks,,,, buy them all the time,,, and rarely use them lol
