1978 I remember it well, I was 8. The 70s had the best theme show music. Great music period, Bittersweet memories!

From what I remember of it, Donny and Marie always had Paul Lynde on just about every week. Wonder Woman was a show that kids could watch, but Dad could also watch and get his jollies from (for somewhat different reasons). At that time in my life, Friday night wasn't a big TV night for me. I was out with friends and playing gigs, soI wasn't in to watch these shows. My sister is still a Donny Osmond fan, after more than 40 years.
@Panwere36
@Panwere36 4 года назад
Agreed, but there was no attempt to overtly or covertly objectify her in the show. She was always portrayed as a strong moral role model for BOTH men and women. I loved the multiple episodes they went out of their way to make her a role model both for boys and girls.

Donnie Osmond was my crush then,after the Fonz of course. I wore a pair of purple socks whenever I watched Donnie and Marie because I read in Tiger Beat that purple was Donnie's favorite color.

interesting to see which of these shows made it over to uk. we had too many dull sitcoms back then or variety shows, wonder woman was teatime Saturdays, incredible hulk was sunday lunchtimes. quincy was on later in evening, way past my bedtime, the others didn't air.

I never thought about Donny and Marie until I read of her and her husband driving their adopted son to suicide when he jumped from the 14 floor balcony of his apartment. Then I recalled the insane ideology that those fucked up Mormons feel about blacks and gay people. Marie Osmond should be burned at the stake for the complicity in the death of that young man.

I remember Donny & Marie being on on Saturday night & Quincy on earlier in the week, Wed or Thurs? Also, Season 1 of Wonder Woman, set during the war, was on ABC (the first half of what you played). The other seasons, which were set in modern day, were on CBS as "The New Adventures of Wonder Woman"
@RwDt09
@RwDt09 7 лет назад
Most of Donny & Marie's run was on Fridays. It had brief runs on Wednesday in the summer of '77 and Sunday in the winter and spring of '79. Quincy had several different time slots but aired on Friday in the spring of '78. Wonder Woman had two intros for the '77-'78 season, the first intro ran in the fall, the second intro the remainder of the season.

I saw many episodes of most of those shows, thanks to watching them or the family taping them on Betamax. Except I have no memory of that private eye show or Husbands, Wives and Lovers. But certainly I do of Wonder Woman (who wasn't crazy about Lynda Carter?) , Hulk (I'd read lots of DC and Marvel comics too) and Quincy. Donnie and Marie was fun and always seemed to have big guests stars (or was that the Muppets Show?). Quark had very few episodes (10?), but those Barnstable twins (playing "Betty") who were crazy about the captain of the garbage scow ship! Richard Benjamin (I remembered him from "Westworld") was lucky. Great time to be 13 years old.

Now I know why I completely didn’t realize Quark existed as a kid, even though I had a bit of a crush on Richard Benjamin. I was watching Wonder Woman, and probably switched to Donnie and Marie on commercials/reruns. Then Hulk and stayed up late, because of the weekend, to watch Quincy. Like a totally normal 8 year old :)

Despite being co-created by Joan Rivers, "Husbands, Wives & Lovers" failed to attract viewers that had finished watching "The New Adventures Of Wonder Woman" and "The Incredible Hulk," and CBS yanked it that summer after ten episodes. (Coincidentally, "The Incredible Hulk" and "Husbands, Wives & Lovers" both debuted on the same night, 10 March 1978.)

It is actually different from the version used on ABC. The theme was re-recorded, with cleaner orchestration and new lyrics that removed references to World War 2. Also, both the animated & live visuals were re-created to reflect the updated costume and move to a present-day timeline.

I know I sometimes "get political" when I comment on here, but lets get real about _Wonder Woman_ . It was a great show, and they made her a real strong woman in the two real full seasons of series: not tied down to a man, a skilled agent always getting herself, and others (including many times her own supervisor agent(s) out of jams, etc. And there was not a shred of objectification in any episode.. except in the minds of certain viewers.... all while making it very clear that both domestic and international terrorism were very real threats.
