Boy, flipping channels would have been somewhat tough for me, this night of the week. Gotta start with The Wild Wild West, then The Man from UNCLE, check the movie on CBS till time to tune in for The Avengers. Shame I would miss Hogan's Heroes and the Green Hornet, but thank goodness for reruns :-)

OK, I have no idea what I could have been watching that year... I know for a fact I was regularly watching Green Hornet & Time Tunnel, but I also seem to remember watching Wild Wild West & Hogan's Heroes, as well as Tarzan & maybe UNCLE. For sure I never saw Laredo... Avengers owned 10pm. I was 13 that year.

I grew up during this time too and what I find interesting is that the only people of color in this Friday night line-up were Bruce Lee (Green Hornet) and Ivan Dickson (Hogan Heroes). The networks were very slow in making progress in including minorities on primetime programs...

As a 5th-grader my favorite show was The Time Tunnel, the first time I ever heard of the Titanic was from that show's first episode. It broke my heart when that show did not go beyond the first season, besides the crappy packaging of several episodes into a pair of movies for TV syndication it would be decades later when I would catch that show on SyFy TV.

I was all of two years old in '67, and so have no recollection of many of these programs. But after seeing this I come away realizing those I do recall are the ones that stood the test of time or ran for more than a season - and lived on in reruns through the 1970s (e,g. Hogan's Heroes, The Wild Wild West, The Man from U.N.C.L.E.). And most of those seem to have been CBS stuff. Hmm, I wonder if that's why my family usually kept the dial tuned to the local CBS "affiliate" when I was growing up?

Watching this one makes me miss not only this kind of programming (well, some of it) but the great movie advertising of the fifties and sixties as well. The poster art for "Breakfast at Tiffany's," "Bye Bye Birdie," "The Pleasure of His Company," and "Behold A Pale Horse" all appear to have been done by the same artist, but the clips move so quickly I can't be sure.

My favorite - definitely "The Avengers". Diana Rigg quit after this season when she found out one of the cameramen on the show was being paid more than she was, even though she was one of the stars. I liked "The Time Tunnel" although it often was pretty cheap, using outtakes from older Universal Studios movies. I also watched and liked "The Wild, Wild West" (a combination of a spy story and a western that probably shouldn't have worked, but did) and "Hogan's Heroes" (kooky, comical Nazis!)
@ZnenTitan
@ZnenTitan 6 лет назад

Holy crap! The Avengers! Green Hornet! Wild Wild West! Hogan! UNCLE! I watched ALL this stuff! All the action-adventure stuff that is, no sitcoms or "Time Tunnel." (Where's "The Prisoner"?) I'd go to my buddy's house, they had the first color set on the block. No DVR or VCR, you watched it or you missed it. I'd give a kidney to see eps of "UNCLE" again. As a footnote, poor Phyllis Diller, TV never figured out what to do with her.
