As I get older, I do tear up more easily watching dedicated human beings push themselves, refuse to give up and then focus on giving back. Joan is a true champion. I just wish every young girl in America would watch this video. For her to come back so quickly after knee surgery is simply astounding. Thank you, Joan! Tom Taft

Hi Joan..hopefully you will remember me..My mother worked in the tailor shop when she worked at your grandfather s store. A H.Benoit was iconic. I remember you n your brother Hank talking at nights when you worked with my mother Antionetta..When I moved to Boston your dad suited me up properly. Andri had so much class. There were two or three others capable of winning that '84 Olympic marathon but Joan pulled so far ahead early on, they would have had to push their pace too much to even think about challenging. Joan had the gold medal locked up as long as she could keep fairly hydrated. Wearing that cap probably helped a lot.
