This is something my mum and I have wanted to do for years. After the international travel bans and Covid restrictions ended, we decided that there's no better time than now!
So, in this trip to Malaysia we said that we're going to do everything, eat everything and experience everything we've always wanted to.
Staying on a durian farm in Penang has always been on our bucket list. Not just any old durian farm, but the number one ORGANIC durian farm in Penang.

Based in Melbourne, Australia, I watch too much TV, eat and drink too much to be a productive member of society. I have an insatiable craving to taste, smell and enjoy everything life has in store for me.
I have been bitten by the wanderlust bug and find nothing more thrilling than packing my bag and jumping on a plane to any far flung destination.
A huge thanks for watching. Please subscribe, like and comment. Let us know how we can improve so we can continue producing engaging content.

Any other durian lovers out there who think this is the best holiday/get away ever?

I like durian but not fresh, I like it like a potato chip. I got these packs of durian chips in phuket and it was light in texture but had the durian flavour. My dad liked the dried version that you get in a sausage shape.

That's some epic drone shots! My god the location is beautiful. Pity a Anthony won't be able to enjoy the durians. You know I've never actually seen a rambutan tree before! They normally have guppies in the water pots with plants to eat the mozzie eggs. I've only ever eaten nutmeg in its preserved form, so nice to see a plant! Lol, walking all the way down you gotta go back up! It's amazing how Penang Hokkien sounds so much like Medan Hokkien! My god Tim, I can literally smell the durian from here... Now I know, look for the jiao jiao 🤣... I've honestly never had the numbing flavour before. Hey, mark's not eating just booked rice anymore! Hahaha... You don't wanna fart in a closed room after durian. I remember you telling me about this eagle. Far out, nutmeg juice?! I saw you mixing up your nasi lemak... You know what I miss? Nasi Lemak goreng from the mamak in KL! Loved the video...

Seriously this durian farm is located in such an incredible part of Penang. Absolutely stunning. At night, it's so peaceful...when I say peaceful, it is actualy SO NOISY as all the animals and insects of the jungle comes to life. I've only ever seen a rambutan tree once prior to this but never with fruit on it. I am so jealous that tropical countries can so easily have guppies in pots without any care. Here, it costs me a small fortuhne to keep my guppies a live in a tank with heating! I've never had the numbing feeling before either. Which is why I'm gitted I never got to try it here. Excuse to return another time! Nasi lemak goreng! OMG! Stop it!

Hi there The name 'Ganja' durian derives from its original name which is Kan Yao (in Thai means 'long stem/stalk'). Because most locals here dont speak Thai, they renamed it as Ganja as it probably sounds a bit similar and easier to pronounce. Ganja or Kan Yao is actually a Thai variety but has been widely planted in Malaysia especially north for many years. Penang durian season usually starts around mid April, so I suggest that next time, u should come around May during peak season, so that u'll have more durian varieties to try. Ang Hae @ Red Prawn, Green Skin 15, Kapri, Hor Lor & Black Thorn are among premium durian varieties that u must try in Penang.

Yes, we would have loved to arrive for the durian season but I was filming a show in Australia called Gogglebox and filming didn't finish till very late. :-( Durian is one of my family's favourite fruits and is what we ALWAYS eat when we return to Malaysia. :-)

What an entrancingly beautiful place! I remember the first time I ever heard of durian, a Malaysian woman was dramatically telling me how 'horrible it is' and if anyone brought it onto the bus they would be 'thrown off'! If a European had said that, I would have been suspicious but because she was Malaysian I believed her. I have still not eaten one, but I do feel that she was exaggerating about the scent! As a notorious food-aholic, I enjoy your channel! Thank you for the video! I am glad you managed to rescue your drone from that thieving bird!

Well, it's true that you're not allowed to bring durians onto public transport, hotels, rentals, etc. The smell is very 'pungent'. I find it intoxicating but not everyone does.

They actually grow many varieties of durian. Musang King is one of them. Their availability is based on harvesting timing.

How many durian we get to eat, if we stay there for one night?
@TimEatsandTravels
@TimEatsandTravels Год назад
It depends when you stay. Unfortunately, for us, we stayed at the end of the durian season. Which means they didn't have the durian package. We had to pay for the durians separately. If you go at the peak of the durian season and stay as part of their stay and eat package, there will be plenty of durians for you to eat.
