@@Ournotsoperfectlife OMG we have had our own fleet of vehicles so artistically apportioned. In the desert, if it doesn't poke and scratch it bites... (-;
Every now and again we have said that “Remember... everything in the desert HATES YOU. It will scratch, bite or sting you. It survives out there FOR A REASON!!”
@@Ournotsoperfectlife Just checked out your Channel! You guys are doing great! Not far from the 1K mark. Hope our sub puts you that much closer. We have a much longer way to go. Great Vids Guys!
Looking for the bright side..... there was no traffic to interfere when you reentered the pavement, it wasnt raining, you gained knowledge of the area, and proved again you can work together for a positive outcome.
Phil, Larry wanted me to tell you the guy that washed our rig had a triple head buffer and buffing compound. They were pretty scratches too. Larry had a little melt down too and Larry doesn’t do melt downs.
Truckers say, if you’re not backing up or turning around, you ain’t trucking. 👍 Just down the road from Cabela’s - OMG I did my student teaching at Sterling HS. Way back in the early 70’s.
We traveled back to Texas for a Veteran Affairs appointment. Temperature change went from comfortable 70-80 degree Flagstaff, Arizona to 103+ high humidity Texas. Completely agree staying positive will help during travelling life.
Thanks for the brewery tip, glad you fell off the brewery review wagon. Safe travels.. A wool bonnet on a buffer and some rubbing compound will get rid of most small scratches. Stop at a small town body shop, and try to get a pro to give you recommendations.
Guys, great video. If you want some REALLY good burgers you can do on the grill, find a Red Robin, go into the bar and ask to purchase a bottle (plastic) of their seasoning., about $6 bucks, and it’ll last you quite awhile. Then on the burgers, sprinkle some of that magic on the burgers as you put the patties on, them sprinkle on again when you turn them. You won’t believe how good! Good on fries too.
I hated the pt I was given for my shoulder due to a fall injury not surgery. It was...boring. After a couple days it dawned on me these were the similar movements of the "morning" session in a Tai Chi dvd. Within 1 week the pain was gone and by the end of the 2nd week I had full range of motion. Plus what better way to heal than to get grounded with our Lord's magnificent creation and meditate on His splendor.
Thanks for all your videos! We are Retired. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, Diabetes, Diabetic Neuropathy, Stage 3 kidney disease, Two back surgeries and Immune Deficiency!. My wife has had two neck surgeries, fusing 4 vertebrae, and had a knee replacement. Even on normal/good days we are in a lot of pain. Winters make us hurt, literally! Last winter I bet 5 days out of 7 we never went out of the house. I tell people we have a nice TV so we want to spend time watching it but the truth is the cold is painful. We decided we would buy an RV and spend January and February in Florida. Our plan was to buy a nice RV that needed nothing! So a few weeks ago we bought a 2003 Tiffin Allegro Class A Motorhome, 32 feet with 2 slides. The outside is in excellent condition for an RV 17 years old and the interior looks good to. We decided this time our RV was going to have levelers. They didn't work but the dealer said they would fix it (weeks have past and still not fixed). They say they can't find parts! I have searched and found the parts and gave them all the information. Still nothing!! Other than that our RV was bought AS-IS! We didn't realize all the stuff that was wrong till we got it home! There was no duct work for the furnace so the heat just stayed in the cabinet where the furnace was. Someone had removed it all, purchased more and it was still in the package under the sink! Then I found the ducts in the dash for the engine AC and heat was rotten, or eaten by mice. It just wasn't there! Then we found the right windshield seal had been covered with black tape so no one could see the problem, a pretty big gap. They had done a wonderful job with the tape so you didn't even notice. Also the main seal around the large slide out had black tape professionally installed so we didn't see the bad seal. Every time I look at it I find something else we need to fix. We have noticed some people actually name their RV (i.e. Ruby just as an example)! We pretty much just call ours the Money Pit! We don't know if well be able to get everything fixed before our planned time to leave? I have been so upset I didn't go outside for 3 days so I didn't have to see it! The dealer said they checked everything out and everything worked as it should?? Are there any Dealers we can trust anymore?
If you haven’t tried buffing the scratches out yet try a mild liquid compound. If our can feel the scratch with your fingernail it’s usually too deep to repair without refinishing. If the scratch hasn’t penetrated the clear coat it’s usually easily repaired.
If you would like to see more of the old pony express route, take hwy 50 across nevada. About every 20 miles or so you will find old ruins from the old pony express stops. If you like that kind of stuff it's pretty interesting
I am the primary driver for our rig. That’s a lot of time looking out the windshield for me. Please include some B Roll of the road and countryside. That would really make me feel like I am on the trip with you. Love you guys.
We call those scratches "Arizona pinstripes". No way to avoid it off road in Arizona. It's a mark of experience and character like the state stickers on your rig.
Glad the shoulder is getting better. My right side had two surgeries and took almost a year of Pain and Torture. When it was over my ortho said see you in a couple of years. Why because my left wound need the same surgery. Three years later he was correct. Thanks for sharing and have a great day.
Take 2000 wet an dry sandpaper an wet area of the scratch an wet sand with a back pad then take a yellow rubber pad an fine compound then polish it then see how it looks. If still there get touchup paint then let it dry then 2k wet dry then police it should greatly go .
Those are the first RV's but I think they are over parked. That's beautiful country side and you don't have to fly across the pond to see it. It's right in our back yard. Thank you for sharing
Phil if you don’t do your exercises it’s gonna be a beat up instead of a meet up when we finally meet up one day, now listen to little momma and do your work. Hope your feeling back to normal soon...well the good normal not the pain.
Hi guys - we were at that Harvest Host in early August. Those trees are terrible. They scratched our Tiffin too. When we got to Albuquerque, we had the rig professionally washed and they were able to buff them out, yay! Safe travels 😊🇺🇸
Road closed happened to me on a reservation along the Missouri River in South Dakota. No warnings before the closed sign. 40’DP towing. Turning around was absolutely not possible. Would have meant backing up 10 miles. Called the tribal office and they sent some one out to escort me through the construction.
Can't sweat the small stuff, never makes it any better. Looks like a nice campground, I love when it's cool at night and warm during the day, maybe not that hot. Love the Letchworth hat! Stay safe!
You will be sorry if you don't adleast try rehab , it will work better if you do , i had neck surg from a car accident & rehab was hard because of the bumps on the road, at that time , so i quit rehab , I'm better now but it took a looooong time . 💖✌👍🏼
Every single vacation my husband and I have ever taken, including our wedding cruise/honeymoon we have had either a hurricane, tornado or earthquake and we have had our luggage lost 4 times. We have bad travel luck.
We stay there about 3 month ago. 14738 miles 12 weeks and 14 states falling the Oregon trail and home. Was a very nice harvest host. Been home about a month
That’s a bummer about the scratches on Ruby...hope they buff out. You would think that a Harvest Host would make sure that their entrance and exits would be cut back. They know that these coaches are wide and need side and overhead clearance. I won’t be taking George there anytime soon. Hopefully they will get them cutback. PHIL!!! DO YOUR PT! 😊 Stacy said to yell at you 🤷♀️
We just moved back to TX from Okinawa, Japan to start our full time Rv adventures. Love the scenery and microbrewery. Can’t wait to find our RV and get started.
Love your channel and have been watching for a couple of years. I live north of Denver and camp often in the Colorado State Parks. You do not have to pay for a daily pass for your toad! When you check into the park, ask for complimentary day passes for Skully. I have a 2018 Coachmen Freelander and pull my 2019 Ford Edge. I have most recently received complimentary passes for the toad at Steamboat Lake State Park and Chatfield State Park. Hope to "see you on the road!" P.S. Phil, listen to Stacey and do your PT!
Could you do a video on handling an emergency on the roadside (Flat, accident, etc..) I have a CDL and know that the emergency triangles go at 50 100 and 150 feet back. However, many of the emergency kits don't have triangles, but lights that you put on the side of your vehicle. Folks need to know how to alert other traffic and keep themselves safe on the side of the road as they wait for help or do a repair. Thanks!! Hopefully, we won't need it, but a Boy Scout is always prepared!!
We may have to do some homework on that. It is really a good tip to know. We haven;'t had an accident or a flat (knock on wood). I do have bright orange flashers to put out at the intervals you mentioned in the evern we are on the side of the road.
I always enjoy watching your videos and getting tips for when our "on the road" journey begins in a few years. Keep loving life and inspiring the rest of us for when our "someday is today." Thanks!
Do that PT! Do you want surgery again? My husband did the same thing until a doctor told him he would need another surgery! We love Scottsbluff! It is beautiful with very nice people. Eat at their airport. They have a shrimp/crawfish boil that is wonderful and cheap!
We are huge fans. Love the videos. Phil, I am having my 2nd shoulder repair so I know the struggle is real, but....DO YOUR EXERCISES! 😉 Even after the 12 month mark, I don't to improve. The exercises are important and they only work if you do them. That's my sermon for this day. Happy trails!
My Hubs has a former student who lives in Scottsbluff! It was hot but a really nice visit. We didn’t make the hike up to that place you did, just long shot photos. Phil! Do your exercises! You know the benefits if you do them now vs. always having an issue for the rest of your life. Short term pain (& annoyance) for long term gain. I have so many exercises to do for chronic & acute injuries I get them mixed up, but am still very active! I try to do some as I stand waiting (leg, arm) or at stop lights (elbow, hand), sitting (ankle).
Yeah do the PT, I tore my supraspinatus, cracked the head of the humerus, dimpled the cartilage surface. But after 6 months they were using me to demonstrate what you could do if you kept it up. You could actually see some muscle motion in my upper hip when manipulating my arm. You hear guys complain that their surgery and PT didn't work, then they let you know they started bowling after 3 months. And I think you drove through the only tunnels in Nebraska. My wife's grandfather came from there and we found the old family house. Her Great-Aunt donated the land the College north of town is built on.
I'm sorry...that was supposed to say, "after the 12 month mark from my 1st surgery, I CONTINUE to improve" Ha! Which is why I chose to do the other shoulder. Sorry for the confusion
Kathy Roberts I’m not sure if you realize that you can “edit” your post by clicking on the three little dots in the right hand corner. Just wanted to bring that to your attention for future reference if needed 😊
I had driven across Nebraska on I80 numerous times for work and always thought Nebraska was bleak and boring. Then one time coming back from Riverton, WY, the mountain passes on I80 were closed and I had to travel through Scottsbluff, NE and I realized that Nebraska was only ugly where I80 was. Whoever decided on the path of I80, did not give Nebraska anything to catch your eye besides the archway, and that was built by humans.
Please post what you find out about buffing out the scratches. We have the gel coat too and had a tree branch brush us this year as well. Very frustrating, but knew someday it would happen. I just love watching your videos. Glad rehab is over 😋
I used a Malco Paint Rejuvenator...it did get most scratches out and lightened the ones it didn't get out. It also got out a lot of the swirl marks. I didn't have a buffer like it recommends.....so that may be why it didn't get all the scratches. I will try again once I get a regular buffer.
The misses and I recently decided to get a lead vehicle to scout ahead before we take our dually and 40ft fifth wheel down an unknown road. Both being military the unknown doesn’t work so well for us. Lol
Phil, you will have to let us know what Tiffin says if you talk to them about the scratches. I too hate getting them and it never seems to fail. I started using 303 Polish (both step 2 and step 3) and a variable speed buffer set at 1800RPM. Once the scratches are out then I apply Liquid glass wax.
Fun video guys. Detours are definitely a hazard. The Oregon trail to me is just fascinating. There is a spot off the interstate in Wyoming where they crossed a granite rock and wore the granite down about 3 feet. The hardships they endured. That harvest host site looks wonderful as the trees helps make it, but unfortunately also hinders. Looking forward to where you head next. Have fun!
Great video. If you make it up to North Central North Dakota, we have a great Boondockers site. 50amp and water with the potential to dump. And no trees to scratch you up! 😆
You both are incredible and so fun to watch. Having someone with you and enjoying all these adventures is what life is about. I hope to have that person Someday and do all these great things also. You both inspire and I look forward to your videos. Phil get that PT done, stay safe and travel well.
Awesome video! Love the scenery! Nice stop at the brewery, as a home brewer that is one thing my wife and I seek out at each camp site. Love to talk shop with the brewers.
Hey y’all, I can’t say enough about how your content has helped us......this was one of, if not my favorite video....very real and authentic. Stacey.....the editing and production is immaculate! Hope to meet you.....On the road!
Post a video of buffing the scratching out! I did a bad thing last year, but I did damage the roof as well. Roof is fixed, but the scratches are still evident.
With the number of new RVs sold in the past year, availability will become extremely limited, and as a result costs will go up significantly. We can expect this to continue until the numbers drop off as new folks decide they don’t like the lifestyle.
We found that most places that are seasonal have closed early or closed during COVID and never reopened, that includes hotels, causing the one that are open stay full. It will wind down....hopefully.
Love the blue shirt from the Spoetzl Brewery Shiner Beer Run (Shiner Bock - smoothest beer available). Anytime a beer is mentioned in a RU-vid video, we have to plug Shiner, Texas.
Scratches on the Allegro RED from trees? Hate to admit it, but I got that tee shirt. Mine were from shrubs and would only partially buff out. Most people don’t notice, but I do. Fortunately, my scratches are on the rear driver side storage and electrical service compartment doors, so aluminum, not gelcoat.
Have fun exploring the West. I love those pull handles in the brew pub. We were just in three different National Parks and the crowds were intense. Lots of people getting out and exploring.
I found your channel recently anf have learned alot..thsnk you. My only comment is some of them are rather long and I tend to stop watching after 10 minutes. Enjoy the concise ones!!!!!
Enjoyed video. Thanks for sharing your adventures at historical sites. Amazing that you, two walked where the Pony Express, etc was. Listen to Stacey. P.T is so important.
Our rv has gel coat also and we use Meguiar's Flagship Premium Marine Wax. The second trip we took in it, same as yall, light pine tree scratches all the way down both sides. That wax did a pretty good job of getting rid of the scratches. I even use it on my truck and it looks amazing.
Love the fact that you guys are on the road again. Nice brewery, will definitely visit for a cold one. As for the water inflatable, check out the ORU Kayaks. Pretty nifty... let me know what you think. Take care
Well this is timely! We will be at Sterling on Sept 16th, any idea if we will need your updated route? We have a 43' rig and do not want to turn around in the field! Any help is appreciated! BTW, you have a great channel, I don't miss any of your videos...
