Mamamoo is selfmade group. They started at small company, without money or promotion but they overcame it with hard work and much more talent that other groups from bigger and wealthier companies. Mamamoo debuted first in 2014, Blackpink in 2016

Mamamoo comes from a small company that they built themselves with their own sweat, talent and dedication. The opposite of the black pink that comes from a big company and everything was given so easily to them. Black pink were already created with hundreds of thousands of people hired in front of computers to viralize them on the internet and social networks from the beginning, while Mamamoo sang in the streets to promote their songs since they didn't have a big company to promote them.

Killing Voice is a great way to hear a sample of their discography (which is over 300 songs at this point) in less than 15 min.

Mamamoo debuted in June, 2014, well before Blackpink. They're one of the most senior currently active girl groups along with their friends Apink, who debuted in 2011. Not that I blame you for being a bit shall we say visually overwhelmed with Egotistic but there's more to it than meets the eye on first view. Egotistic is title track #2 in Mamamoo's landmark four album series called 4 Season 4 Color. Each album had a theme season & color of course and each title track explored a stage of love that matched the season and color. As you could probably guess Egotistic was the Summer/Red song and the stage of love was Passion. In the MV each member expresses what Red and Passion mean to her in the break up song via her wardrobe, props and actions and each seems to represent a stage in leaving an egotistic jerk. Here's a breakdown: Anger: Moonbyul - strong, confident, independent. Tosses chair and speaks down to him from the balcony. Defiance: Hwasa - wild, fierce, uninhibited. Stares down the jaguar and takes a bath in a rain forest bathtub. Revenge: Wheein - sees red, burns w/rage. Badass bitch on wheels, burns his guitar in effigy and dances in the flames. Liberation: Solar - sensual, provocative, fearless. Sexy outfits, come hither looks into the camera, flies on the pole. You might want to watch a guide to learn their names and get to know them a bit. It's a few years old but imo the best is Purple Hawke's two part guide to the members called Introducing Mamamoo. It's one of the most well-edited guide videos I've seen and is very informative and highly entertaining.

Mamamoo are grown women!!!! They debut beforw BP. They were brought together as artist and not just idols. I love their more mature vibe. As a lot have commemted, watch their Killing Voice. There are 2 verions, the unedited and edited one. They are amazing on both. Since discovering them I heard about their live vocals being even better and after seeing them live last week i can 100% say that is very true.

I love Mamamoo. It’s the only female group I listen to consistently. Their solo stuff is also very good. Also, I like that they aren’t super young. I do t mind that they get thirst trappy because their voices are excellent. Watch their Killing Voices video. Every once in awhile someone says the K-pop male idols look like girls (stupid thing to say) but I just say go watch a Mamamoo video and try to tell me that.

Killing voices is a must to discover their personalities as well as other songs they perform. They write a lot of their songs and just as BTS often put their lives/ thoughts into the lyrics. They are very funny and play off one another. I said it before women being women of Kpop, as opposed to girls wiggling their bums trying to look sexy. BTS stand out because they are different from other Kpop groups and so do Mamamoo. If any Kpop girl group is ready to take on the US it would have to be Mamamoo.

You definitely have to check their killing voice and immortal songs medley. Coz if you love hearing them sing in these MVs, you gotta hear how awesome they sound live. XD

Mamamoo debuted June of 2014 right at the beginning of kpop's 3rd gen. Black Pink was two years later. You will probably want to watch a guide as the members are all wonderful people as well as great artists. All of them are successful soloists as well. I prefer the Purple Hawk guide from 2019, the Moo YT from 2022 is more up to date. Their killing voice video is a good sampler, but you can just keep doing individual songs. You literally cannot go wrong.

I noticed you watched this on the 1theK channel. Mamamoo videos are double released on 1theK or Stone for earlier MVs and on the Mamamoo channel. The ones on Mamamoo's channel have better subs than 1theK. Stone videos don't have subs at all. They can be harder to find But it's worth the effort.

Yayyyyy. Now you definitely have to check out their Immoral Songs Melody. It is a taste at how they are live. I actually saw them live in Chicago and their vocals WOW. Seeing them live hits really different. You expect it, but at the same time, you are still at awe of them. They sound fan-freckin-tastic.

You have only seen a sample of their extremely good vocals. There are always singers who are the best of the best and they are in that group. Shockingly, the reason they are so talented is they were told they were "not beautiful" and the only way they can succeed is to become the ultimate vocalists and performers. Yeah they are beautiful and one reason we all respond to them vocally and visually is they are women not teens. Typical idols start 18 or so, they are around 27 for this video. Solar is my personal bias, the pole has a history, she hurt her back a year or so before that and use the pole to rehab the back and she just kept doing it, included here and she did the pole live in a number of performances. See her Solarsido youtube channel for more pole, many other things including covers like Michael Jackson's man in the mirror, which itself has a history from a charity where she sang with Michael's former backup singers, the song writer and his backing band. Though the youtube version you can hear all of them but it shows only her.

Their maknae Swan who has one of the most unique vocals in Kpop recorded the vocal guide track for MAMAMOO song WIND FLOWER. All-rounder/ composer Chaein has a distinctive R&B type vocals, Chaein & Swan are my 2 favorite vocalists after BLACKPINK Rosé. Chaein and main dancer Ireh are former YG trainees (BLACKPINK company, as are Seoyeon of FROMIS_9 which has 10 trk full album coming this week, and rapper Moon Sua of BILLLIE my #3 & 4 Kpop groups). PURPLE KISS start with either witchy debut PONZOÑA or recent song SWEET JUICE mv has them trapped in a haunted hotel. PURPLE KISS has a witches concept, kind of a spooky fun take on horror, call them Kpop group that feels like Halloween and newer music videos are accompanied by prerelease lore storyline videos. Their spooky 90sec Intro track performances are also must-see CROWN, ILLUSION, BYE BYE BULLY, recent SAVE ME, and Freaky Purky was later made into full song b-side PRETTY PSYCHO with a freaky performance video. Every new release goes in a different musical genre, they have a diverse no-skip discography with great b-sides. Just gonna say it PURPLE KISS is the best 4th gen girl group, followed by BILLLIE which also changes musical genres every time and has cryptic storyline in music videos (RING MA BELL, RING X RING, EUNOIA, GINGA MINGA YO! ). On the more pop end of spectrum, check out FROMIS_9 DM, WE GO, LOVE BOMB, FEEL GOOD, and lowkey sexy newr b-sides REWIND and ESCAPE ROOM, new 10 song album with #MENOW mv coming this week. I prefer them to Twice, both 9 member pop groups til Gyuri left f_9 to pursue acting after 4 years in the group. FROMIS_9 is also arguably one of the best looking girl groups in Kpop if that catches your attention more than me discussing their discography or their entertaining 'controlled chaos' nature on variety shows.

They are famous for never ever use autotune or playback... they even change a little the lyrics for people know they sing 100% ( and they came same time as BTS, so they are older than blackpink)

Blackpink is a manufactured group. Mamamoo is a natural group. In terms of singing talent, they’re not in the same galaxy, but the marketing behind Blackpink is much stronger. BP is more of a teeny bopper group appealing to 12-13 year olds predominantly. Mamamoo has captivated audiences in their 60s and 70s due to their Immortal Songs competition appearances. Both groups are fun but for very different reasons. Ones Micky Mouse club, the other one is Celine Dion, Mariah Carrey, Adele and Eminem on the same stage. Lol

All of the members are talented more than Blankpink(sorry Blinks that just my opinion), their charms are on another level...
