With all the new commanders coming out so quickly, its easy to forget some of the old classics that are still great, especially with new cards for the 99.
Also, I think your playgroup doesn't allow some of the janky stuff I'm running in my deck. I love my playgroup for allowing jank lol. I'm running a couple of infinite mana combos in my current build. It's able to ramp and threat a really early Memnarch (or other big threat)...but also in the background I'm also tutoring and drawing into my combo pieces and am threatening to just combo off on any one of my turns.
Lol, sounds like you had a blast playing it which makes me happy to hear. Something about Memnarch being in the command zone gives an inevitability that your opponents have to account for, and being mana flooded is never a problem when you have an outlet in the command zone. In addition, being able to not only deny your opponents of resources, but use it AGAINST them, is just icing on the cake. Memnarch may be old school, but he is still super fun (for some at least lol).
@@casual_commander haha yeah, the funnest I've had with magic in a very long time. The last couple of months I've been super focused on cEDH and trying to min-max the heck out of decks. At one point I had one of my decks down to a 1.17 average mana cost...and it was fun and all, but it really started to drain me to be honest. Playing a deck with big fat spells was so refreshing and enjoyable! lol
07:15 lol I was playing a game where I risked everything and just completely over extended with dropping a ton of mana rocks. Was sitting on 16 mana on turn 3...and felt a bit defeated, like meh...I just made a TON of mana, but I have absolutely nothing to do with it >:(. Then it dawned on me...oh yeah! Memnarch is over there in his zone being an excellent mana sink! :D I think I lost at least 1 friend that game. But it's okay, because Memy is my new BFF!
One of my favorite decks I’ve ever built. Tossed in tons of infinite mana generators like Pili Pala/Grand Architect and Great Whale/Deadeye Navigator, plus running all Snow Islands and Extraplanar Lens so I double my mana but nobody else gets the effect. The one downside is I can’t bust out the deck for casuals anymore.
For me, casual is not running fast mana, tutors or one-card win-cons. That's why you won't find things like even sol ring in my lists. But while really strong, im still fine running metalworker personally.
It only affects our permanents, not our opponents, so I don't know how useful that would be. If it turned our opponents permanents into artifacts, however...
Got a bunch more games in last night with Memnarch! I'm loving him...though I've quickly discovered it's just too strong of a deck for my current playgroup (though they're actively working on powering up their decks so hopefully here very soon it wont be so dominating at the table). In the first game, one of my friends who runs a midpower level Kenrith deck had an amazing start. Turn 1 sol ring into arcane signet into pithing needle naming Memnarch haha >..
They sounded like some epic games and I'm really happy to hear you've been enjoying the deck so much 🙂 Hopefully your friends can eventually match your power level, otherwise you'll be permanently relegated to archenemy lol. In saying this, it would only be on theme for Memnarch's character 😉
Not a worry at all, I enjoy talking shop 🙂 You should jump on our discord group, we have a channel dedicated specifically to Memnarch, you could post your game results etc. there.
@@creeperlano7805 you can, just make sure they know what they're in for lol. Paradox Engine was banned because of how long turns would take when it was going off.
I don't run any fast mana like sol ring, mana crypt, mana vault etc. in my casual decks, as i feel it keeps the speed reasonable in a casual environment without having to sacrifice power.
@@cai42069 Yep, I don't see any problems with steal effects, even those as cheap as Gilded Drake. Imo fast mana, tutors and one-card win conditions are what really separate casual from competitive decks.
