Hey everyone! Even though I initially announced there wouldn’t be any new animations until late November, I ended up creating another one. This project came with its fair share of challenges-lots of reanimation and re-rendering-and there are still a few details I’m not entirely happy with. That said, I think it’s good enough to share! Some issues, like the glitching lights in the second space scene, remain unresolved, as I couldn’t figure out the cause. Still, I hope you enjoy it! Additionally, I’d like to announce that 4K versions of my still renders are now available for purchase through my Patreon shop (www.patreon.com/vortexcgi/shop). Please note that these are priced higher than what my Patrons pay. If you’d like to support me through a Patreon membership, you can do so here: www.patreon.com/vortexcgi/membership.

Ayo! This is one of my favorite scenes from TSFS (including the main Spacedock/return home scene! 😊) and seeing the deflector light up and CDR Sulu kinda 'weaving' the ship while backing out? That makes me imagine that he's got his arm slung over the passenger seat while looking towards the aft of the ship - like backing out of a parking space! 👏 👏 👏 Perfection! Can't wait til November! Keep up the great work! Be safe and healthy! LLAP 🖖 😎

I think this is what got me to break through all the hate people had for the neo-constitution in Picard S3. Between the classic look mixed with TNG design language and Steve Barton’s homages to James Horner’s music, it went from “just another ship” to one of my top 5 favorite designs before the season ever ended. There’s just so much in the Connie’s design language that just WORKS.

Yeah, aside from "buzzing the tower", wouldn't 1/4 impulse power IMMEDIATELY smash them into the station wall? That's like 0.0625c. Clearly not light speed, but still a significant portion of it.
@Akm72
@Akm72 6 дней назад
@@Zephandolf In TMP they used fractions of warp for impulse power such as "ahead, Warp .5". I guess we could assume that fractions of impulse power are being used for thruster commands.

@@Zephandolf@Zephandolf based on the Enterprise's length of 947 feet and my rough calculation of the ship moving at about 947 feet per second, that equates to approximately 650 miles per hour. Best music at the best time when the Enterprise does the 3 point turn out of Spacedock, with the most amazing level of emotion as Kirk sits in the chair and hears the words "Kirk, you do this you'll never sit in the Captain's Chair again!" And for a second he thinks about it and his love for Spock just overrides all that and he thinks "I'm coming, Spock" and simply says "Warp speed!"

I love how the lighting, textures, and pacing really hammer in how these ships are behemoths, just as majestic and lumbering as today's largest aircraft carriers and cruise ships. The last time I felt that in official Trek was the 2009 movie. Terrific! I had to restart it because I didn't immediately catch what was going on... and I mean that in a good way, because the new stuff blends so well. Films from this era were cut very differently than today, with considerably broader cut pacing than the "don't blink or you'll miss" visual chaos of today where even scenes of simple dialogue feature unnecessarily busy cuts. That the original shots in these early-gen Trek films are all the more impressive because we get to enjoy so much time before the next cut to take it all in, testament to the detailed work of those model makers. The work here seems to build upon what the original footage did so well, adding a new layer of cleanliness and detail that simply wasn't available in the world of 80s optical effects, and blending in well with the original kept footage. Great job. Subscribed.

Cool video...but I am still waiting to see this scene redone with in canon only damage to the Enterprise taken from St II (well, roughly patched up, because Kirk said they did in the meantime between movies). Or maybe scraping the warp nacelles with some sparks as it almost fails to clear the space doors...and of course, an outtake where the doors don't open, and the entire starbase explodes. 💀 I always liked how captain whatshisface just assumed and knew it was Kirk stealing the ship...like, "yup...i knew he would try to". "Kirk, if you do this, you'll never sit in the Captain's chair again" was full of irony, because that act is actually what PUT Kirk back in the chair, after being demoted from Admiral, at the end of ST IV.
