All credits & rights go to Sony Entertainment The three Talons launch from the USS Abraham Lincoln, before UCAV EDI joins them and gets familiar with them
@@ryanvandoren1519 makes sense, since (SPOILER below...) The main Mission in Maverick could be ripped right out of the games 😎 A time limit, a canyon and a small bombing target
Its amazing this movie had a bad rap... Sure the story was well.... the characters were.... forgettable but that EDI and this soundtrack right here.... fire!!! the visuals even hold up well today. This movie makes me feel like a kid again wanting to be a fighter pilot!! That alone makes this a good move lets not forget the explosions and sappy ending. What more could one ask for from a summer movie...... We need to stop comparing movies to what they could be and try to enjoy them for what they are but i digress...
@@deildegast funny enough, you have quite a bit of real and CG in this scene. The wide shots are obviously CGI, but the close-ups are all practical. Heck, the shots of the Talons on the deck prior to launch are actual mockups made for the film. They used the CGI where it was actually needed, and the rest was done using more practical effects Heck, if you watch the dogfight scene, you'll notice that the first Su30M (what they would be irl) destroyed was not a CG model, it was a practical model that they actually destroyed
Speaking of Hornet. The funny thing is that those are legacy Hornets, which were officially retired by the Navy in 2018. Meanwhile these pilots are flying 6th gen jets that are already in production (which are still under development irl). This is basically as funny as having P 51 Mustang pilots watching F 14 prototypes taking off from their flight deck
The year this came out iMade up stats for the F/A-37 Talon in harpoon three lol. Was fun to fiddle with in the scenario editor. Made up a Spartan long range hypersonic asm/atg missile (with a ridiculous 800 damage pt antimatter warhead lol) it could fire as well and a Brilliant Rainbow loitering cruise missile with arm capability. Even the best aircraft in that game get shot down though due to the game engine so I used the talon as a hypersonic long range strike aircraft and allowed only a few to reflect it's scarcity. Almost non existent as it were lol 😂
Not really. Russia vs NATO is one of the most commonly used fictional warfare scenarios, UCAVs as a real world concept have been around for decades and sentient AIs for even longer. This film didn't really bring any new concepts to the table or predict much of anything.
@@DCTriv it's basically the only non-franchise film that brings such concept to the big screen simply because of its high budget though. Top gun is definitely more present, conventional warfare rather than full on futurism like this film
Edi has a flexible wing where control is achieved by moving the shape and surface under the outerskin, drastically reducing drag. Not unlike a bird's wing in someways.
Just a flight of the 3 Talons flying over the Polish / Ukraine border today could change things a lot . They would need to turn their transponders on for about 2 minutes, then they go dark again. Watch the S-400 & S-500s systems going mad trying to find them.
@@quakethedoombringerit takes place at an unknown point in the future. It's entirely possible the materials themselves or the coating is what contributes to the stealth.
It's not shit taste, it's an acquired & unique taste to like airplane movies. I also like your profile pic being the CFA-44 Nosferatu, my channel has videos of it too!
Not really realistic, but futuristic. Real 6th generation fighters would be really stealthy, but the design would be really simplistic. Kinda like the EDI, but sharper
If, from the bottom of the fuselage to the deck, looks familiar everything on the deck(s) is photo-composited footage of F-18 Hornets with an overlay for the stealth aircraft.....
@@lightbenderga2017 EA-6b are PROWLERS (known colloquially as 'queers' (due to to the gold plated canopies (which prevents the suns radiation from screwing with their gear through the canopies), the EA-18G is the GROWLER (raised around USN carrier flights decks) sorry if I was being picky LOL
Maybe in the future, that kind of drone was created. they would be a great technological advance, and of course a great acquisition for the air forces.
i think we have drone fighters atm, but i havent seen much of them, probably because fighters hardly ever do fighter things anymore and we already have ground attack drones
I mean the designs in this film is a a bit too impractical and far fetched but you have the Boeing Wingman project where AI controlled jets will assist manned ones
This SpaceCraft is a MAFIA Gangster FA-37 TALONS, And it was born and Developed in Hollywood powered by TITAN AE Platform, Born from the Titanium logic of American Enigmatics
I like the Talon jets transition to Hypersonic flight with their rather unique swing wings. But the Movie is cool if you accept it on it's own terms as a movie. It's certainly a lot less dumb than a Michael Bay Movie and I think visually it looks nice even now.
Such a bad movie, lol. I was active duty when this one came out, and I had buddies on the Lincoln when they were shooting, said that Jamie Foxx still had a massive head about winning the Oscar for Ray the year before. Josh Blucas and Jessica Biel came and did a press thing on my carrier as part of the promo for the movie, though, so that was cool.
Old tech that still works is the backbone of the military. The newer electric catapults are only in the new Gerald Ford class and they're having issues.
