Danny and I have wanted to try stealth camping in one of our classic cars for a long time now. we finally took his 1969 Camaro out to test our stealth camping set up. To support the channel, shop our new merch here: gnarlyspeedsho...
I would take the station wagon and modify the front seat so it reclines flat and there you go! It would be a small project, but a station wagon is much more effective at camping than a sport car. Great video!👍
My wife and I have been watching your videos for some time. I think we have seen them all and we just love them. We just watched this one and we loved it. My wife and I are in our seventies, brought back memories when we were young and would go camping. You guys are great. We were planning to start doing it again by buying a small camping trailer. But prices and interest are just out of this world right now. Keep up the good work. Nick & Diane.
I'm a 55 year old life long hotrodder. We did it all with our cars. Camping, racing, commute to work, etc. So many times my Datsun 310 was used to tow rope our broken cars home. Hundred miles or more many times. A stone stock 1981 Datsun 310 hatchback tow roping 70 charger, 72 torino, 67 camaro, 73 chevelle, on and on. Had no idea that was content. Been there, done that, mid 80's to present times. Edit ' yes we did change the clutch 3 times in that Lil car. It was our low key parts chaser or commuter as needed. But never the primary by choice. Never.
The Camaro is a bad ass! The big turbo / methanol setup reminds me of Pro Mod class. And the gauge / computer setup is really unique. I love that you have built it be a reliable daily driver. And have so much fun in it with Liv. Coolest camping vehicle ever!
Car people! I sleep in my 23 window deluxe every night, in the shop.took the passenger seat out my 40 chevy coupe to drive to death valley last july.road trips are my favorite.
I used to do similar stuff with my '69 Camaro. We used to roll up hot dogs and rolls in foil, stack them up on the intake manifold, and drive down to the beach, and drive out as far as I could before getting stuck in the soft sand, roll out the tarp, rollout the sleeping bags, have hot dog feast, and then sleep under the stars and hope the rain stayed away. Got to love Summer nights on the beach with your best girl friend and your Camaro you built yourself. It doesn't get better than that. Makes for great memories. Have fun. Be safe.
Thanks gang, just recived my 2XL white t-shirt, great quality, wife said it was easy to wash. Our car club would do hobo night, dressed up as hobos, bondfire, sleeping bags and tents. and one outdoor potty john. We would ask one of the local farms, if we could spend the night out in the fields or woods, always left the area cleaner, great times.
❤ your Camaro! I too did own & raced my 1969 Camaro, M21-4spd . I lived in Santa Monica and the year I purchased it was 1978. I was 19 years old. Love your channel. 😊
I love your car! It is that classic muscle car on everyone's bucket list for sure! You guys are an amazing team together! Next time do the wagon, there's much more room to sleep in. You guys are the best!
As long as you guys had fun, doesn’t matter what kind of camping people wanna call it! Plus, Slayer is the same color as a stealth bomber, so that qualifies as stealthy 👍🏻
I have that same buddy heater. Last year, i fell asleep in my tree stand (deer hunting), and melted my boots. 😅 It looks like you had a good time, but there's no way i could sleep in the back of a car anymore. I think the shaggin wagon would be a perfect camping rig. Even with the same tent set up off the back of the car.
Awesome video!!! I would definitely love to see more like this!!! I would love to do this at a drag week event one day!!! Save on hotel cost and be fun. As long as it’s not to hot!!!
The best shot of Slayer is that morning establishing shot. I didn't realize how good that car looks. My dad and me did the same thing with a '69 El Camino back in 1972 and at about 11 that night, a cop told us to leave. It was in a big secluded marsh area. Now it's the Central Park in Huntington Beach where since 1986 they have held the Concours d' Elegance car show.
Good thing it didn't pour rain that night. Your "tent" is like Swiss cheese!. Better off to take the 56 wagon and sleep in the back of it with maybe an extension out the back for more room if you need it. cheers guys from Canada's capital!
@@GnarlySpeedShop you two are great and your content as well. I enjoy watching your videos and I'm going to continue watching to see what you get into next.
You both crack me up. I'm retired and guessing you're my kids age. Still binge watching and really enjoying your vlogs. So genuine.👍. Hope to get current soon.
Dang!!!! I loved this video , hella good !!! Loved the 69 getting some USE !!!! Hell yeah!!! Nice to see Danny and the 69!! Loved the camping area/ cooking/ sleeping quarters/ and set up, BRO!!! Hit up some more areas with the fleet of classics and do some more videos camping !! Maybe near the beach? Malibu Canyon, ? Anyway, good content overall! Too bad the heater sucked balls,. At least you can say you slept next to the 12-bolt axle lol!! Which reminds me to order brakes for my 9" for my '69. . . . I still wanna buy your 5.3 when your ready to yank it out , hint, hint.
You guys weren't kidding around when you left for the camping spot, Danny driving the Slayer Camero, pedal to the metal. 😂🤘 Nice stealth camping set up, moment of silence/thankfulness for Twinky. I'm wearing my Gnarly sweatshirt, it's perfect for the cold Feb. weather here in Michigan. I think it's an out of the box camping thing, it's cool to me, why not. Did you find out what jumped on the car, any animal footprints? Cool story about the Slayer Camero and Danny's trip across the country and how you guys met.🍻
Lol….y’all are something else!!😂. ‘Livin’ in a Camaro, down by the river!’😀. Just for a night…good one! Enjoyed the hanging out and the stories. Thanks guys!✌️
Love you guys car vids and attempt at stealth camping. I think you could be a little more stealth. Oh and by the way 47 degrees, no need for a little buddy, do a rd trip and hit snow and 30’s now we are taking cold. , Love your videos and hopefully will see more rd trips stuff in the Camaro.
That was really a great video , watching Liv's enthusiasm and humor is just so enjoyable to watch PS and her beauty. Danny's story about the history of the Camaro was super, you two make such a great couple, keep up the great work ❤❤❤
Good test for when yer out with the Camaro on a two day outing. 🙂 Another not so stealthy idea, but I think an old 9x9 Coleman Umbrella Tent would be a good try. The front flap/overhang could be joined onto the roof of the car with a tarp flung over filling in the front and back openings. The Coleman 2 Person Swagger Instant Up Tent would be another choice. (just another thought)
This seems like personal video of you guys traveling and camping together. Must admit took a some imagination. Most states if a state troop saw you in a rest area. Or parked off the road. They would run you off. Might work in an emergency situation. Love you leaving the area cleaner than it was before.Happy Thanksgiving you guys! Stay safe 🥰
i think duke would be a good option for your stelth camping, fasten the stelth cover to the back of duke with back end open , olivia could use the 56 wagon as a bed and still have the tent part for danny, ive seen alot of people use station wagons at camp grounds like that, loved the video! having fun is the best part who cares what people think, its you guys adventure
Very cool! I've often stealth camped with my wife and kids, but we use our 07 chevy Express van/poor man's RV. But ive never tried it with my 1969 chevelle. I could tell right off the bat Liv was going to feel being crunched up in the morning, been there, done that. The animals came by because yall chucked food and left stuff out. But I'm sure yall know that. There's plenty of state parks HERE in Texas. Reclining seats in a classic car might be the answer to better sleep ? I'd like to see you guys build a rocket stove and use it camping. This was a fun video !
A Sasquatch can smell them beans and bacon from 5mi away. A snake could have came in from under the car. It's not worth the risk. Besides you guys didn't have any beer. Tiki van can be a tow vehicle if needed.
It's a wonder Cooking all that good smelling food didn't bring all kinds of wild animals around..a raccoon bit my buddy's finger off when he was sleeping in the back of his truck when his hand was laying off his tailgate...he had been cooking some kind of meat and had the smell on his hands so the raccoon took a bite lmao..
