Did my first camp thanks to you well car was 50ft away due to my mobility but slept under tarp and sleeping bag hope to do one more more a mouth time if my mobility is having a good day thank you.

Great to see that you use a ground sheet all the time. So many bushcraft people don’t and I can’t understand how they like to just rely on their sleeping pad. A ground sheet is a great way to keep the creepy crawlies out of your kit and also keep it relatively clean.

That looked amazing ! My daughter did a back garden camp on Saturday next to our bluebell patch and, in the morning, she used her bow and arrow to hunt breakfast (shot a box of Rice Krispies 😄). Loved the idea of that mini-tarp - I might swipe that for our use.

Although I am a full time van lifer now I still enjoy watching backpacking videos after doing hiking adventures worldwide (23 years in the military). It's been a pleasure watching your videos due to your wonderful positive attitude and the skills you exhibit on your adventures. @@WildBeare : Shakespeare's plays are full of those ancient names for flowers. Loved the bluebells, my garden is full of them at the moment, including a white one, right on the edge of the path. It is a good excuse for me to be lazy and not mow the lawn. I knew you would like the trail cam, all those nocturnal animals to watch, really brings the wood to life. I loved the photo of that moth, he looked like an aging rocker wearing sunglasses. Something else you might like is an inflatable kayak. They pack down to the size of a large rucksack for carrying in the car and take about six minutes to inflate. The one I have is a two seater, called an Itiwit 100 Tourer, sold by Decathlon. It means having access to lakes and rivers and opens up new opportunities for photographing wildlife and camping along river banks and on islands. It is very stable and great fun, I think your young lad would love it. As it packs down small, it is easy to store. Take care, have fun.

I got the same DD tarp and this became the footprint for all my tents. Cheaper and larger than the manufacturer’s footprints (MSR, Hilleberg), so it also covers the vestibule, while still lightweight and strong enough to do the job.

Those are similar to the bluebonnets we have here in the south. They are a different flower, but the visual and emotional effect is the same. Glad to see we can all enjoy nature’s beauty world wide 👍😎

When I was a child and into my teens a bunch of us used to spend a load of time in a place called Crow Wood. Some three miles long and around two miles wide, in Spring the whole woodland floor would be covered in bluebells. Wonderful, beautiful memories which have stayed with me to this day. Sometimes the air itself seemed blue such was the numbers of these little flowers. Sadly the local council decided that the wood should become integrated into the adjoining Country Park and proceeded to make it accessible by creating numerous paths by cutting down trees, and laying down woodchips to 'firm up' the ground for walkers and ATB riders. Needless to say, the bluebells are a thing of the past due largely to the acidic content of the 'flooring' and the removal of much of the canopy. Crow wood is now largely an abandoned, muddy experience ignored even by the park rangers. Some people have a lot to answer for!

Although I'm nearing my mid-seventies I still have very clear memories of those spring days when half-a-dozen neighbourhood kids took the long walk, about two miles each way, to the wood provisioned with fresh 'penny' loaves from a small bakery we passed on the way and bottles of licorice juice (made by melting licorice sticks in warm water overnight and a favourite tipple) to spend a day in our favourite place before the same tired, dirty-faced urchins wended their way home clutching bunches of bluebells for our various mothers. As you will guess they are still and always have been my favourite flower. Thank you for provoking such wonderful memories!

We're having our first annual family Hang-In on the weekend. Three of my 5 girls will be hammock camping with me and we take inspiration from your videos that there is so much good in Nature if you just look for it. We're camping in the Belanglo State Forest where a notorious serial killer used to bury his victims. My reasons for choosing this site is that we can take the family dog, have a campfire and there are lots of trees to hang from. it also reminds my girls there are evil people in the world and they need to be aware, not paranoid or scared. but pre-pared. As well we make a trip to the Memorial to the Victims and let their spirits know they aren't forgotten. My girls have all watched your hammock video, your tarp videos and they love how you get out there and do it. If nothing else, be proud you have inspired others. Thank you.

They produce an intoxicating scent that suffuses the woodlands they grow in. A real indicator that Summer is just around the corner, a high note to the Spring woods, moving through the season with Lesser Celandine , Wood Anemone and Ramsons. The UK is home to about 50% of the world population of Hyacinthoides non-scripta, regarded as an ancient woodland indicator species. Just lovely.

The blue bells look stunning.you should try an army backpack would blend in even better in the woods there cheap aswell from most army surplus shops.
