I have a Stealth rack and a side Stealth on the right side. I absolutely adore the look and positioning options. This is one of Gibraltar's best ideas ever. My favorite rack system by far.
Heey Everyone here!!!! I've got an extra option for the NBO series! I do it myself and it works great for easy setup, and change overs. I'm in a Volbeat Tribute and i have been struggling with my own rack with 4 legs and 3 bars… Since i added a 2nd Bass i needed to get more space in between the front legs… But still i have like 2 m2 drumrizers… So what i came up with is this: I already had the 4 legs and the 3 horizontal bars… So i took the design of a stealth rack like you see on the side of the ride… now it's like a frontal rack but now at both sides of the kit. Next i bought myself a GSVMS and put in a double tom holder as high as possible and placed a snare basket on the other side… Next i added my hihat stand to the side rack on my right side (i'm a lefty) with a straight bar that actually was the front of the stealth rack… And put a little curved bar like the ones you see on the sides of the standard rack you can buy… So… i've got like 4 toms, my snare, 2 hihats, 2 rides, 2 splashes, 2 china's, a bell and 6 crashes mounted to 3 separate racks… That's a lot of stuff on just 3 bars… But still it holds great, and my change overs are DONE IN 7 MINUTES if i can built up behind the scenes… I like to compare my own setup to the one Jon Larsen of Volbeat uses himself and i can tell it's a 99% same kit… Though Jon uses pearl, I work only with Tama and gibraltar… and of what i think of it is that gibraltar has a lot more options… i can work way faster and in angles people call me crazy for… So also a big thanks to gibraltar… And i hope i can contact them soon to show them what i did and how i did it. Further more… I recommend Iron Cobra players to check out the G-Class pedals… I've had cobra's for years but they're beaten by the G-Class who even most less!
I'm highly interested in converting my hardware setup into a rack...i just right now don't have to finances to do so. Thank you for the rack videos, they have been very enlightening.
I am a Gibraltar die hard fan. I have the 4700 and 6700 series cymbal stands and 2 5700 series snare stand and 1 4700 series snare stand. I also have the full curved rack that my wife got for me 10 years ago and it still looks like it just came right out the box. My other new Gibraltar family member that I am falling in love with the more I play it is the new G Direct Drive single pedal. EXTREMELY powerful which can be controlled/ applied effortlessly. The features are phenomenal. I also have the 4700 swivel hi hat stand and everything is light but very durable and rock solid. I just ordered the stealth with INTERSTATE MUSIC ( CASCIO ) in Wisconsin. I’m looking forward to having a more quicker and cleaner set now for my gigs. Keep up the good work. Gibraltar rocks
I just bought the GSVMS and a GSSMS....hopefully after what I've seen so far I'll have the perfect set up for my bands tours. I've officially hit that age where less is more haha
The long, horizontal ,connecting bat that has the bend in it works well when you turn the bend in such a way that allows it to set very close to the bass drum which facilitates closer placement of the pieces mounted on either end of the VMS.
I love the whole concept and I have the 400 c setup, but I also have all the stands for a regular setup. But this really only eliminates some floor space and costs a lot of money at the same time after getting all the necessary pieces. If the price was less expensive I could see doing it, other wise nah.
the weight is ALWAYS the issue with stands vs. racks. just out of sheer curiosity, id like to see two identical setups, one using stands, the other a rack, be it stealth, spider, or traditional, side by side, setup, tear down, hardware put into bags, and WEIGHED on a scale. ive toted my rack in a 48" military duffel bag before, and it was too much in one bag, but i got it all on one trip. carrying 3 stands for the school performance, took two trips but it felt lighter. love my rack thow :)
props for ingenuity. my snare stand never gets in the way, i mount my rack tom and left crash and cowbell on one stand, and my ride and right had crash on one other. works for me
Hey guys I just want to say I've been using the Intruder for a year now its completely won me over to using Gibraltar hardware been looking into a rack easy to customize to my style of set up and the stealth is my way to go so thanx for this vid, and a big 'attaboy to Gibraltar design team, think you all really nailed it on this...
Throwing this out there because wasn't able to find the answer online until I asked someone. The GUASB Ultra-Adjust Snare Basket will hold a 15" snare.
I just posted a video response (older video) to walk you through how to level a curved bar. Basically, be sure to check the level on the horizontal bar in all 3 positions. near each connection as well as in the center of the horizontal bar. Plus make sure your vertical legs are level as well.
That has to be the most beautiful and ingenious set hardware I've ever seen. I wonder if that's what inspired Ludwig with their new A.T.L.A.S. mounting hardware they recently came up with?
I just order the GSVMS, very excited to try this, my snare stand is moving around when I play, which means it´s not where it was when I started playing! I hope this stealth rack can solve it 🤞🏻😎
I was thinking about a similar low profile, but longer design for double bass drummers that would go down between the kicks, with maybe a third small foot right at the back. The toms would mount at the front, then the snare in the middle and the back end would hold a throne. All three points would of course be adjustable. Can you imagine getting the perfect positions for your seat, snare and rack toms all figured out and then setting it like that and never having to fiddle with it again - ever?
Next time, show every movement of setting it up! don't edit out the last 3 twists of the wing nut or reaching for the next part. I know it's just small little actions, but it all counts for drummers. I used a Tama rack for years (same as a Gibraltar). transporting it was a pain. it's no faster than a few stands. the only benefit is the smaller footprint.
I'm a big fan of Racks, just the "ape cages" in the 80ies! But the stealth seems to be very usefull on small stages or if you have very short amount of changing time between bands.
Our clamps will work with the tops of boom stands you already have, if you choose to do that. The only downside to using parts from your cymbal stands, is that if you tighten the clamp to the boom too much, you will misshape the tube of the cymbal boom, and it will not fit back in your stand correctly. For the price of the clamps, you will need to speak to a dealer. Each dealer is going to price them a little differently. We can only give you MSRP, which isn’t going to be much of a help.
AWESOME!! I’m a drummer who HATE racks, they look like they should take up more space and take more time to set up but I’m obviously wrong! I play a 1 up, 2 down Pearl kit with 1 22” kick drum and double pedal. (10” rack, 12” & 14” mounted toms in 1st and 2nd floor tom positions) All toms mounted by Optimounts. 14” 1st snare and a 10” second snare mounted off a clamp and tom arm from my hi hat stand. 2 crashes, 1 above the 10” rack tom, not directly above but slightly towards the hi hat and a second above the gap between the ride where the 2nd rack tom would be and the 12” mounted tom in floor tom position 1. 3 slashes, 1 directly above the gap between the 10” rack tom and the ride and 2 inbetween the hi hat and 1st rack Tom (which your splash tree would be perfect for) Now my issue is how to mount the splash in a position that would be above the gap between the ride and 1st rack tom. I have a virgin bass drum and would have to drill it and put a mount on it so that I can mount the 1 rack tom and a boom arm for the ride out of the bass drum and use a boom arm and clamp off the tom mounting arm to mount a boom arm for the splash ... Can this be cleaned up without having to use multiple stands etc, not drill my bass drum and be nice, easy and quick to set up and tear down but be nice, stealthy, not look ‘egotistic’ for a pub gig. Help me out Brent! I’m a bit ‘overwhelmed’ to a degree with what is on offer from Gibraltar and wouldn’t know really where to start.
I own a stealth rack, and I must say, it is not perfect, but it is incredibly convenient. It saves so much space and is sturdy as hell. It looks great; I hated the look of my previous traditional rack. Like I said before, it's not perfect, but for the price and the increased floor space, I would recommend this to any drummer....shit, I recommend it to everyone; you could do anything with this rack. If I didn't play the drums, I could make a bad ass fort with it or maybe even a stand for a BBQ p
As a gigging drummer for a few decades, now, I don’t see a rack item designed like this to be any easier to move from gig to gig than a traditional three legged stand. It looks like it’s thicker and bulky or hardware to have to put into a hardware case or carry from your vehicle. The nice thing with tripod stands is the legs are always collapsible, and therefore the stand can be flattened into a straight rod to be either carried to the vehicle, or put in a hardware case, and then taken to a vehicle. But I already know that I’ve never really been interested in a rack design for my drums. To me, it seems like this hardware is bulkier, and takes up more room and heavier to lift, and carry than a traditional tripod stand mounting system.
i bought both stealth racks..main for snare and the side one. Tear down and tear up with memory lock takes few minutes. Makes set up time (especially in festival ) insanely quick. Not to mention that you find your cymbals and snare at the same perfect height as in your practice/rehearsal room. I was skeptical about it but once i started using them...Absolutely WORTH.
If you like playing deep or small diameter snares (I use a 10" Firecracker) real low, standard snare stands suck. I like to keep things simple, and I have a clear acrylic kit. I can position things, memory lock, and then I never have to worry about scratching the shit out of my acrylic rack tom!
Don't get me wrong, I have a Gibraltar rack and accessories for my Gretsch setup, but they do not even come close to the DW 9000 rack setup for my DW's!
i have the GSVMS i need to get memory locks on it though just havent had the money to do so. its great im currently trying to figure out how to mount 3 toms up top
Can we get a tutorial video showing multiple ways to set up the new stealth docking station? I want to purchase but I want to make sure its the best solution for my current spacing issues.
Stefon Hickson thanks for the comment. We are definitely planning to do a video for I the docking station, as soon as we are able to get back into the office
i want to mount all of them off the same pod. i have two bass drums set fairly wide so i can mount off a cymbal stand and to my right is a low set ride
Brent can you set up pearl optimounts on the stealth rack?can you use the existing boom stand bars from pearl hardware for cymbals?looks like great setup !
great idea for use less floor space and compact size! but I'm still not sure if that rack system is less weight than my light weight hard wears. I wish you tell us the weight in the clip.
Yoichi Sato Believe me… It's light weight… I think if you're trying to compare it is like one stealth rack weights the same as 1 snare stand and one tom stand… Maybe like a 50 gram difference
I have the GSVMS, the bent bar is not level at each end which makes it hard to get the mounting posts level. When I reset my kit its a struggle to get the mounting post level again I have no double bass drum pedal. Any ideas?
Seems like more of a hassle than a help. How much are the clamps? Do they work with parts of stands that i already have? Boom attachments always get me through!!!!
Cesar Moreno Sometimes i teach some kids drumming and i tried working both with stands and racks for them… The results were actually better with the racks because they are way more strong than any stand pack… If you're looking to get a rack, i'd recommend just a frontal rack. It's easy and really strong, and with the side bars you can reach almost everywhere, and u can still use the rest of your stands if u like to
I recently purchased the flat base stands from gibralter and was wondering if the top portion would fit into the stealth stand. If it does I would need more than one set of inserts for all my flat base stand tops.
Could the GSSMS rack be used in front of the bass drum with the bar very low to the ground ? & could 2 cymbal arms be used with 2 clamps to hang 2 Tom's via clamps over thr bass drum ?
great idea. I'm looking for something like this but for percussion instruments. do you think it will be possible to use it with a cajon stand like the MEINL cajon holder and a bongo stand. would be shaky?
The bent bar that goes over the double pedal on my GSVMS is giving me problems. The bar is straight up to the bend, but after the bend on the shorter side it dose not continue level after the bend. I just bought a straight 30" bar to make my life easier. Would it be worth it to buy another bend bar for a double bass drum pedal, if decide to buy a double bass drum pedal?
So I bought the GSSMS a few months back and it's great. I just upgraded my kit so now I will have 2 rack toms instead of just one. I'm looking at the GSVMS and it seems to be the right one. Will I be able to use the GSVMS to setup my snare, 2 rack toms, and a crash?
Does anyone know if the clamp/adaptor on the front upright tube that you would ut the mounting platform in is easy to remove? I need to make my upright tube higher.
im a drumtech and i've been trying to sell the idea of a Stealth Rack but i cant find that GSVMSDS anywhere. Where can i find it o do i have to buy it seperately?? In fact i need a TRIPLE snare basket, cause the drummer uses both toms in snare baskets, A real pain to get those stands every time. Can you please help me
BOBBYDICK79 thanks for your comment. I would recommend the 9608OS. It’s our Oversized moto throne, and very comfortable. It’s my favorite one out of all the motos
Thanks for replying. Would this fit between a double bass setup? The pic in the video say yes, but I don't have tha much space on the front between the bass drums, so I'm afraid the rack toms end up too far away. Would you consider making a video or video series kind of like NBO for double bass?
Daniel Alcala if you are using the vertical mounting system and side mounting system, you can mount 2 toms directly over the bass drum by using the SC-SPCM with a ball L arm out of the the front vertical of each side. This will allow you to mount the toms very similar to a tom stand. You can mount 2 rack toms in the offset position with just the vertical mounting system by using an SC-DP double tom mount.
+GibraltarDIY it's not though. It just has all the parts of the actual side rack. Unless I'm missing something. I was just curious which boom attachments they were that you used for the side rack. sorry to be such a pain. :/
+breedlovedrums for the back cymbal, I used the upper two tiers from the 6709NL no leg cymbal stand. This will allow me to place the cymbal as high as I want. You could also use the LBBT, or 4425B-1. For the cymbal cross bar, I used a long boom rod mounted with a multi clamp, SC-GCRMC. The front cymbal was mounted out of the front leg with an SBBT, short boom arm. I hope this helps😀
