I'm sorry I can't tell you more about the trains, but I was recently contacted with some 16mm cine film from around the Yeovil area and the south of England. Here is a short snippet from the footage.
Original footage by Norman Urwin - shoot in the 1960s(?)

A piece of trivia. My dad back in the thirties himself a Yeovilian, train enthusiast, and keen cyclist would cycle with his mates to Sherborne, and whilst waiting for a train would help push any cars up the hill from the station for a few pence, extra pocket money. One of your commenters Derek Phillips has written absolutely brilliant books about Yeovil Town (72C) and surrounding lines. I have three of them and today to find one is like gold dust but if you do I highly recommend them as Derek was a cleaner/fireman driver at Yeovil shed.

I definitely concur about Derek Phillips! I recommend his books to everyone. I have the one on Westbury to Weymouth, the Salisbury to Exeter and the one about the branches off said line (a rarity, which I had to pay twenty quid for, second hand!)

You must remember my workmate's dad then Fay? I don't know his first name but Steve said he was at the Town. We were both at Salisbury.

I spent the best part of 20 years driving 159s through Yeovil. I would have loved to see it as it was and the whole line of course.

Massive thank you for uploading this. My Dad worked the line through Yeovil Town station (Southern Railway as a fireman on various engines) which I think went as far East as Ashford, Middlesex? Dad sadly passed away this past Monday but his love of steam was with him to the end. I would love to find some more info about Yeovil Town Station. There are a few photos online of YTS in 1958-62 when he worked there but sadly no cinefilm or video footage that I can find.

Some very interesting footage though the quality could have been improved with some grading . At around 2.15 there is footage at Weymouth showing A4 Sir Nigel Gresley on a special later shown tackling the Bincombe incline .

That is graded, the footage was amateur, but shot the best it could have been. And thank you, I don't think it was edited in any particular order, it just came to me on a 1200ft spool.

The footage of the 'blue' Sir Nigel Gresley at Weymouth brought back fond memories as I saw this event when I was a young lad in June 1967 . @@AarchiveRailways

Lovely bits of old film but please edit out 4498 and 4472. The novelty of seeing pre. BR liveries has long gone for most people.

Hardly any of this is relevant to Yeovil Junction, you must know tis surely!

I'm not that familiar with the footage. I was only going from reading the signs on the stations.

Interesting thank you for sharing, the scene with the county I think is filmed at Taunton.

@AarchiveRailways pls ignore the negative comment, this is some of the most interesting footage that you and your donor have shared. So good to see it i colour. With the help of some of the helpful comments on here you can probably put together something of a location list in the description which would be appreciated I'm sure.
