"Playstation doesn't care about us (PS5 & PS4 users) anymore" news flash, they never did, as a company Sony's primary focus is to make money and selling ports of older games on PC is a quick and easy way of making cash quick.
Just wanted to mention this; while the Steam store page for Horizon Forbidden West says nothing about supporting portable PCs, the blog post about the technical specifications for the game does. That doesn’t necessarily mean Steam Deck support of course-but there is hope for people like me who really enjoyed the game on PS5.
Remember that the Steam Deck has a 4c/8t cpu while the PS5 has an 8c/16t cpu from the same generation of cpu, aka Zen2. Really CPU intensive games will take a performance hit on the deck. Reducing framerate helps reduce the load on said CPU. If 60 fps is the target on PS5 then 30 fps will be the target you will want to use when on the deck. The minimum spec they reported was 720p @30 FPS with the Steam Deck specs falling between they Vey Low and Medium preset so it will work on the Deck, 100%, @ 30 fps.
@@theexile4694 Yeah... but the PS5 is targeting a 4K resolution. Which is more than 8 times the scale of 720p. Even if internally it is 1440p it's still an extreme amount of pixels more. Add in FSR and the gap widens even further. WTF are you talking about "Really CPU intensive games will take a performance hit on the deck.". I might be wrong but the Deck should easily meet the game's CPU requirements. It is GPU bound if anything.
@HeyJes The GPU handles resoltuon. You aren't playing 4k on your deck. You are going to be limited to 720p or lower resolutions and at those resolutions the load on the GPU is very small. What matters most is can the CPU keep up and power through the game's main loop and in this case it 100% can at a reduced frame rate, 30 instead of 60 fps.
Fanboy gatekeeping is so strange. Imagine being mad at a company that makes games that you love get a port that extends the audience, make that company more money and increases the chances of sequels being made. And yeah the WB Adult Swim thing, christ almighty Warner Brothers is trying their hardest to lower their own reputation. I really hope these devs manage to find a new publisher or self publish their games. Cause I really wanna buy a few of them but I don't wanna reward WB with money for this. bleh 😮💨

Ghost of Tsushima ran at a stable 30fps on the PS4 at 1080p so there's no reason why we can't get the same or a stable 40 on a Deck. Plus it'll be an HDR title that'll look amazing on oled. This is a perfect way to replay/partly this game imo.
The Sabotuer does technically "run". It just doesn't run well. At some point Valve made changes to their files filesystem and where game files are stored in Steam OS. After they did that the GOG version of the game stopped letting you change the resolution. I can confirm that the same is true of the new Steam release. Great game, no longer a great experience on Deck.
I will be suprised to see if the game might not have all the dualsense features wirelessly. The studio who are porting this game implemented all those features in previous ports like Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank through steam input, and they've even included (of what I wished wasn't) less common features like gyro aiming.
@@FanTheDeck it's an easy mistake to make, mostly due to them not advertising it as much (probably because steam input is a steam only thing and that the games are also being released on epic store too). I recently played through Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and for a short time played with my dualsense and the adaptive triggers worked.

2:05 im still a main system gamer (and just lately ive actually been well enough to call myself a gamer again playing like a hour sometimes more a night, this is massive for me as i went for about a space of like 5 months where i didnt turn on my pc due to not been well enough after looking after my mum each day) but my Deck is a massive blessing for me it basically gave me back my games that ied lost access to because sitting at my pc was to painful even with a good chair but getting my deck let me play almost all of them again (still cant get used to the controls of warframe on anything like a controler so thats still out and for some reason STO hates trying to run on the deck but that may be my internet 😵💫).
The page I read about forbidden West actually DID show a QUOTE that mentioned it be optimized to run on Handheld PC's..... I can't remember what site it was, but they were quoting the original announcement page... So YES they ARE planning on it running on them... but I'm not too sure the Deck is gonna be a great experience... BUT it does have FSR 3 so it WILL be JUST FINE :) (I personally think FSR/DLSS/XeSS are tech that is PERFECT for handheld systems... the screens just aren't big enough and the resolutions aren't high enough to see the artifacting in the smaller background details that are there when you go for more performance.. Yes in the earlier iterations of the tech you had ghosting issues that would have been visible for sure... but with the improvements they've made I think it's the PERFECT TECH for handhelds... I mean you get free performance with very little battery usage increase compared to having a more powerful APU to get those results without super sampling, AND the issues you may see just don't stand out as much when compared to a 4k monitor on your desktop - It's such a great match!! - I just haven't seen ANYONE do some comparisons with FSR on & off with battery life, heat amounts, framerates, and the visible differences.... So I'm just going on my little experience with it. But I think it's REALLY GONNA SHINE with the 'Deck 2' because they'll probably be the first to use the Strix Halo APU that has 48 CUs!!!!!! and uses Zen 4 and RDNA 3.5 !!! So it will have the hardware Frame Gen and the fixed Anti-Lag features... plus whatever they come up with between now and the 1st half of 2025 (It WILL be worth the wait.. ESPECIALLY if Valve continue to sell them at a loss and recoup it in steam game purchases... that's why the deck is so cheap) It'll be here sooner than you think :)

ya little over 10 bucks for all the cnc games (not the one remaster) was a good deal even if it came with cnc 4 hell just getting renegade was worth the price alone
@@soviut303 it's intimidation. They do not have a case though. Their strategy is to get people to fold. Nintendo knows they could not win the case if it goes to court. There is legal precedence that emulation is legal. Also you cannot sell the software and make a profit. This is GPL license though.
WTF?! I have owned every PS console since the PS1 (yes.. 1,2, 3, 4 + Pro, 5) and the fact these PS gems of a game are coming to PC will only cement Sony's Playstation Legacy EVEN MORE! Sony Studios have made some of the BEST games known to mankind! So being ported to PC is Insanely good! (if nothing else for preservation!) Remember that FF7 (Original) got a PC port? Guess what? You can still buy that on Steam and PLAY IT... almost 30 years later... Tell me.. can I buy a new PS1 today?!
What i think, is that it is very lekker that more console games are coming to pc, because i don't want to own multiple devices to play certain games. But i do have multiple consoles to play certain games. PC is number one for multiple reasons and benefits.
I’m a PlayStation fan , never bought it on ps5 cause I never had the time and patience to be in one spot for that story. But with these PC handhelds changes things, I will buy it on Lenovo Legion Go!
My hunch (and a big-ass HUNCH at that) is that Playstation is testing out the waters with Steam to see how popular their games are being played on handhelds like Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Legion Go, and the Ayaneo's. If they feel they can become a known brand on the Steam/Handheld Market, I'm pretty sure they're gonna eventually come out with the VITA 2 or some other Playstation Handheld that can compete with the popularity of the Steam Deck.
Worst case scenario, once the PS4 emulators get more mature, it will be a case of those console only exclusives being more PC exclusive than the current consoles, as the PC has a larger console back catalogue than the current consoles, not to mention with more improvements.
I'm guessing with Vanillaware, porting games to PC would require a ton of testing to get it working properly on the wide variety of different computer setups. Making it for fixed spec-ed consoles means they can minimize the amount of bug fixes they'd need to make and save a ton of money that way. They're already looking to sell Warner Brothers soon, after they ruined so much of what it had to offer, before they bought it. It's no wonder they pulling things down.
Reverse engineering is legal. The main issue for Yuzu is bypassing the encryption of the original games. Maybe it can be defended when handled like Yuzu did with people having to get their own BIOS to decrypt the game but that hasn’t gone to court unlike reverse engineering. If Yuzu was primarily used for original games and not games only released on Switch then it likely would also have a better case.
When it comes to Playstation Gamers being upset over PC ports to Steam, what comes to mind is the Disney CEO calling Disney Plus a "value killer." I think what he meant by this was that if new content will be released on another platform much later for less, this disincentivizes purchasing it on the original platform: streaming and DVDs reduce theater tickets, Steam and Cloud Gaming reduce Console sales, and so on. If I was Playstation Gamer (I am not), I would not choose Playstation because of exclusive game franchises. That said, as someone who primarily plays games on Steam, has a Deck, and who does not have he extra funds to invest in another platform like Playstation, PC ports of old Playstation games offer me a variety of things (and therefore potential money to Sony over other game Devs): the ability to play on a variety of devices like the Deck (and with Cloud support), the potential to mod games such as adding VR support, and still having access to the same game on new PCs regardless of the Operating System (so long as the hardware meets minimum specifications). I think as hardware becomes more and more expensive with smaller microchip process nodes becoming increasingly difficult to manufacture (even without considering geopolitics), choosing proprietary over open hardware, like a Playstation (or Nintendo) console over a Deck, makes less and less sense to me. Hopefully one day Bloodborne and Demon souls remake get a port. Hell even a release of the OG demon souls on Pc would be great. Also Gravity Rush 1 & 2. Maybe the sales would encourage a Gravity Rush 3 to be made. Also this is probably more square than Sony. But, a remaster of all the Drakenguard games released on consoles and PC would be great. Since that’s all connected to Nier.
Maybe Vanillaware won’t like some other studio tinkering with the game they have made? So they would only allow themselves to make a PC port but given their experience is with consoles it will take time to achieve and take time away from making a new game. That would be my best guess as to why.
I’m not a PlayStation guy, but I can’t imagine a PlayStation enthusiast playing PS4 games portably on a Steam Deck and not smile like a kid. I never wanted to buy a console for exclusives. The PS4 ports have been awesome. I bought them because Sony didn’t make me buy a console.

Ghosts for me is their best exclusive maybe alot of Sony fans feel the same and thats why its the line for them, for me though I would prefer no exclusives at all I dont like barriers between gamers
The people bitching about PC ports, Why? Sonys been developing and publishing games on multiple PC and console platforms since before the original PlayStation and continued to do so afterwards. yes including for the Sega Saturn and Nintendo 64 through Sony Imagesoft and Psygnosis (sony acquired Psygnosis in 93) To the put into perspective Psygnosis was legitimatly one of the largest game developers /publishers by volume sold from the late 80s to early 2000. the 95 - 96 financial year 40% of games sold on all platforms in Europe were published by Psygnosis.
"Gamers" aren't furious. They're fanboys, with obvious issues. They moan and cry over 5 year old games getting ported to PC. This isn't the first time they were this mad either, Horizon Zero Dawn drew a similar if not worse reaction. These fanboys are absolutely insane and seeing them cry over Ghost makes me happy.
if I had to guess why ghost of tsushima has fanboys angry I'd would maybe guess that its due to the PS5 version being a paid upgrade, if you own the PS4 version its $10 to get the PS5 version despite being the same game with some upgrades, PC gets the entire package for base price literally only sane thing I can think of
I like PlayStation, but they are running out of great exclusives. Ghosts of Tsushima was one of the most important exclusives remaining on PlayStation and gamers used Ghosts of Tsushima to brag about the PS5. It's petty console wars, but for fanboys in chess terms it'd be like losing a rook or bishop. I am someone who can afford to double-dip on these games, but I certainly don't like it. It sucks how Sony is selecting these games, seemingly at random, to port to PC, as a gamer I never know whether to wait for PC release or not
I like to think Sony is building up a PC library so they can eventually open a PS Store on that platform. I like to think this is happening because I'd like to imagine having legitimate access to my playstation games on PC as well as console, like Microsoft does with games pass.
If you add up Playstation and Xbox to PC user base, then you have one big pile of players. Imagine the future is compatible with each console, as they are all PC. You buy once and can play it on any PC compatible hardware. No need for dedicated consoles with exclusives. This is good for everyone, as they can sell to a huge market in one go and users don't have to worry to lose out specific games, and choose the best hardware they can afford. The Steam Deck and other handhelds are an excellent example of what I am talking about. Companies still have their identity and features. -- *record scratch sound* back to reality. But it's good that the big companies do PC releases at least. This is a huge win to me. I don't care what fanboys say or what color their tears are.

Where Yuzu screwed up was being public with saying they'd get ToTK optimized before it even released which couldn't have been obtained any other way than piracy... People are talking a lot about the paywall argument but almost every emulator that I use has some way to donate to the team. RIP Citra, that is easily the best 3DS emulator out there but Ryujinx was my preferred Switch Emulator since it handled game mods better. Suyu (Sue You) is already a notable fork of the Yuzu clone and is up on github. Let's hope a Citra fork gets picked up, though Citra is in an amazing state already. At the very least this settlement means no legal precedent gets set so this has nothing but a fear factor effect on the emulation scene.
Games like this , is why I will always love PLAYSTATION, I’m happy that they are porting it because games need to be shared and played! fan boys are weird, love Nintendo too, LOVING SD OLED, it’s my BACK LOG machine.
Frankly, I can't wait for the day when the Console Exclusive is dead, dead, dead and console manufacturers will be forced to compete in terms of the hardware and general convenience. Yes, in a sense consoles are more convenient than PC, but that's mostly in the form of setup. Beyond that the experience has degraded a great deal since the days of the PS2. 20+ years ago it was a mere matter of hooking up the console to the wall and TV and putting the game in the console and turning it on and you were gaming. Nowadays you have to go through an install process and deal with periodic updates. Sure, I have to deal with that on PC, but that's just it, you're supposed to be more convenient than PC, but now you're just a PC that's typecast as a entertainment box. Hell, modern consoles can't even guarantee that they'll run without issue. There are plenty of games that run like ass on console. That's what you're supposed to be good at!
What you're seeing in those reactions are console gamers and (possibly devs like Vanillaware) getting tense at the encroachment of PC. There used to be a very definite line between the two and it gave a reason for people to one one or the other, or both. If "Everything eventually goes to PC" then people lose a reason for consoles to exist. Imagine if Republicans started switching sides to join Democrats and you'll understand. They think PC is jeopardizing the existence of their consoles. The relative complication and expense of a computer isn't something every person is comfortable with. In the last few generations that line has blurred considerably and it makes people nervous, probably even more so for some Physical media preservationists.
I know everyone will be disappointed that the next playstation game coming to pc isnt Bloodborne as am I but Gravity Rush 2 owns and I'm excited for it to come to pc
Ghost of Tsushima deserves to be played in a big screen, and then a re-play in the “Kurosawa” black and white mode. But I’ve done those about three times now on a PS4, long ago, so now I’m looking forward to play it again, on my Steam Deck :)
If anything, the fanboys should be glad it comes to PC. Since the games come out years later for PC, it could entice people to buy a console to play PS games earlier if they like the games enough.
