Prawn here with a video to show you how I upgraded my Steam Deck, what I used, the steps for doing so and why you should/could to.
In this video I'm showing you some of the process for upgrading the internal storage on the Steam Deck. As well as talking about Dbrand's Project Killswitch case and the features of that and why I can't use it (see the link below to the Reddit post on it but essentially I have the wrong fans in my Steam Deck). But I still used the skin because it's awesome.
My Steam is the 256GB model which I found filled up ridiculously fast and that was disappointing, but that was temporarily fixed with a MicroSD card, but those aren't nearly as fast as NVMe SSDs.

For those who want to backup your entire drive to the new one first, you can actually do it with a SINGLE LINUX COMMAND! no programs needed! Then I simply installed mine and resumed where I left off (though I do advise moving all steam games to an SD card first)

Found it on a video from youtuber Marz Mindset, it's running now. Be aware you have to set up a password in the terminal first (use the passwd command to initiate that). Then you copy-paste the following, and enter your new password when prompted: sudo dd if=/dev/nvme0n1 of=/dev/sda oflag=sync bs=128M status=progress

Definitely recommend. Just upgraded mine 256 to a 1tb, and if you shell out an extra 20ish, you can get an enclosure for the 2230 ssd, plug in into the deck with the new drive, and in desktop mode, clone your current drive right over with a single konsole command. Makes the new drive plug and play with all your Games and saves already in place. No need to reinstall steam os and it also expands the partition automatically so it's plug and play after the clone.

I upgraded my steam deck to 1tb as well but with a sabrent rocket which is completely different than the 64gb emmc 😂

Installed this same SSD in my ROG Ally and the speeds are incredible due to it taking advantage of pcie 4.0! So satisfied with my purchase!

Fairly certain that’s because the faster SSD draws more power but I could be wrong

that is possible apparently, though it's also meant to be long and hard so I didn't bother. Just reinstalling SteamOS and the games is easy enough (links to do it in the description)
