Honestly? I hope not, its too early in my opinion. I agree with Valve that only huge upgrades should be considered (besides refresh models with same performance level), so a unique identifiable system can be targeted. Otherwise it becomes just another noodle in the soup. 2 to 3 years life cycle for a major upgrade is a bit short in my opinion, especially true if there is a refresh model in between that addresses lot of issues anyway. At the very least a major upgrade should take 4 years cycles to me.

I would love to see the Red Dead PC port come soon. I doubt it'll be canned since it's like the most requested pc port of a rockstar game. I also don't think RS will mess this up as it'll probably be similar to the Nintendo Switch and PS4 versions that released last year but with better resolution, framerate, and kb&m support.

I think we will get it when it's done. Give them some time. We have plenty of games. Steam deck verification would be great, too. Kingom hearts finally on steam. So many demos for games that were announced last week. Good time to be a gamer.

@9:50 Steam continues to grow and a lot of it is thanks to supporting emerging markets. In comparison the ones struggling like Sony just recently blocked 180 regions from buying their upcoming single-player games like God of War Ragnarok and Until Dawn.

@@FanTheDeck as far as I know It was distributed in Spain only. I had a few magazines still in home. Apart from game reviews I think the most interesting section was were they answer letters from readers. You had to send a post mail with your question (for example you are stuck in a Game or you wanted to buy a console and need advice) and they respond a few months later.

To comment on the note you made regarding how game devs seem to care about the deck these days-I definitely agree. If you, or anyone else, has backed a game kickstarter since the deck’s initial release, many devs on there have made note of including 1. Controller support and 2. Deck optimization. Not necessarily always at launch. But they often comment on this matter, per my experience, especially when asked. (Also, so far, I’ve seen them pull through on that front.) I’m really glad devs are taking it seriously and are taking the time to optimize things.

I started playing a demo called Aska. It's got low performance on deck (about 20 FPS), but controller support is surprisingly well polished. It's sort of like Valheim with the viking lore and building aspects, but it also incorporates a tribe building feature. So far, it's been pretty fun.

Oh man Bioshock 4... don't give me hope I played Wild Bastards a bit and thought it was okay, but something felt like it was missing. It was odd to me how bad the characters accuracy is no matter how well your actual aim is. And hell yeah Metal Slug Tactics looks insane, us Metal Slug fans are finally getting a good meal!

I highly recommend trying out the Akimbot demo. Great Ratchet & Clank vibes. Even though more Steam Deck optimizations are needed. Still runs great on older hardware PC's, like my RX 580.

the trackpads are GODLIKE on the deck. use left and right swiping for aiming (disable vertical), and use gyro for vertical aim.

I'm interested in the merits of the Playstation case in the UK. Of course, game development costs have ballooned since, but in the 7th-gen when digital distribution really took off, we all thought the whole point was that we'd be able to get the games cheaper - it made no sense that a pressed, boxed, sealed and shipped copy of a game on disc cost the same $60 as a digital-only copy, when that digital copy was so much cheaper to "ship". I guess it's too late now, those prices are established. I've yet to buy a game at $70, though, that is crazy

keep your fingers of the banana game - the guy who made it was previously banned for a pump and dump scheme of another game - so in this one the publisher listed are his friends. (the original banned account is still friends with all the 4 publishers of the banana game as well as him being the owner of the discord of the banana game) If you are interested in the whole backstory of the developer there is a video made by Jauwn explaining how the devs manage the sellable steam items to create a big amount of money for themself.

I seriously doubt that any of the Final Fantasy games that are in development on PC will be an EGS exclusive because that ship has sailed as far as Square Enix is concerned because they knew that their games were NOT selling as well on EGS as they were on Steam so they are changing their strategy going away from Timed Exclusivity.

There are several reasons why the remastered gta trilogy was so bad. Rockstar said that they didn’t have the original source code for the games so I am assuming they had to use the mobile ports as a starting point. They also had a very small team working on it and they used ai to upscale the textures which resulted in the game being a mess. I think what it came down to is that they relied to heavily on the ai up scaling tech and rockstar just didn’t give the devs enough time to fix it. I don’t think red dead would have the same issues since it is just one game and it was already in hd to begin with so they wouldn’t have to do as much work to upscale the resolution. I guess it depends on how they go about it. I would hope rockstar learned it’s lesson with all of the negative press they received for the gta trilogy.

I'm playing gears 1 and 3 ok on the steam deck os. Two plays at around 30 + FPS but has issues with object white flare which is an issue but playable. I've gears 5 and that plays perfect. So overall it's not bad, my Rog ally z Xtreme plays the first 3 Gears brilliantly again @ 30+ FPS. Steam deck is still holding its own against the new boys on the block.

@@doomguy979 using Xenia Canary and proton experimental as a whole, use the patches talking of everything that is an effect and in the Xenia setup file turn off vsync, you d3d12 apart from Gears 2 which I use Vulkan, change resolution in the file to 1080 and in Steam deck game deck to the same. D3D12 looks great in Gears 2 not issues apart from it hard crashing after 20 secs no matter what proton I've tried. Strangely Gears 3 doesn't crash but an occasional stutter, but the iso's are on sd card, so that may be an issue. Overall Gears 1 looks great, using Xenia also on Rog Ally too and no issues is using the above apart from all 3 on D3D12 👍 hope it helps.

I would be EXTREMELY surprised to see FF16 exclusive on Epic. There hasn't been a Square Enix Epic exclusive since Final Fantasy VII remake, and every Square Enix release since then has come to Steam while skipping Epic entirely.

algorithm comment. no new games. been buying too many and with elden ring dlc on the horizon, haven't been feeling that hype though but also not spoiled on it despite it once being my fav game of all time but that was before my steam deck and my newfound love for modern metroidvanias, which of course are perfect for the deck as most will make battery life a nonstarter. Been rocking out switch this week on the exercise bike, still working my way through that Prince of Persia game, every time I hit a wall I bounce back to steam deck with nin sols and turbo kid

Rockstar will have to really knock it out of the park with the Red Dead PC port for there to be ANY chance of me buying it, and I'm a huge Red Dead fan. Just download a Switch emulator and play the Switch version of the game on your PC, that way you're not putting any more money into Rockstar's grubby little hands.

The price parity lawsuit is highly disingenuous, and will almost certainly never see the inside of an actual courtroom. The argument is that it is an anti-consumer practice forcing consumers to pay higher prices for games by telling developers that they can't sell their game for cheaper on 3rd party platforms. This is false. The terms of the agreement for developers publishing on steam is that they cannot sell STEAM keys of their game on 3rd party platforms for cheaper prices than the current listing on Steam. This is all about making sure that developers are not intentionally trying to funnel customers to a 3rd party site for the sake of stealing customers. If they want to buy the same game from the same developer on a different platform, the parity terms do not apply. It only applies for steam copies of said game being sold as keys on a third party site. Also, a side note, sites like HumbleBundle get around this because it is not the developers who are selling said steam copy keys, because the parity terms only apply to the developers of said game redistributing steam copies of their game for lower prices than on steam. That to me, does not sound like a valid lawsuit in the making.

Yeah don't play that banana game it is a ploy. Not only does it wreck your time but even within a 24-hour period with an auto clicker that is 8 cans a day most skins were only be valued at about about 3 since the developer gets one penny of that steam gets one penny of that you get one penny meaning you can make minimum 8 cents a day developer will be getting minimum 8 cents a day per person. You may think oh that's not a lot but when you have a 100,000 people playing your game all you need is 100,000 skins to be sold at the lowest value and they made $100,000 but they consumed your time. It is a trap it is no different than gambling or a gotcha game you're being wrecked. You may think you're losing nothing since you don't have to put money into it but you're losing your time. You are essentially saying I am okay with making 8 cents a day for work. The only winners are steam and the developers. And that one person who gets lucky enough to get a skin that's valued higher than 3 cents

With the BILLIONS they make each year, you'd be think their store front would be improved, their app wouldn't be horrible to use, steam deck would be more stable...etc. Valve sucks, but the unconditional loyalty people display provides no motive for the likes of Valve and Fromsoft to improve much.

Russian is the second-largest languages countries-wise, after English, of course - yet not every game adds support of Russian language. It’s bonkers. There are so many Russian speakers out there, it’s free money making. Though Russian-speaking folks usually make localization themselves if a dev didn’t do the job.
