Hi all, I had a problem with Steam Link on Xiaomi Mi TV Box S. It didn't worked. Actually, it worked with older PC and not worked with a new PC. Later I have found a problem in an AMD Graphics Card. Steam Link doesn't support Hardware Encoding with AMD cards. It supports NVidia cards only. In Steam Client you can uncheck Hardware Encoding and then it will works. You can play all games which are supported by Steam Link. It is limited by your hardware only. You can play games, which are not supported, but sometimes it is possible or it can cause some problems.
I'm using ethernet on both devices but the latency is unbearable specially if you're used to fast paced games. Good for Story driven games but not for casual games.
Do all android smart tv's have the app? Thinking of getting the Sony 55X9000H it's an Andriod smart tv and looks like the same as your device with how the apps are displayed but not sure if it has Steam link or if I have to buy that device if I got that tv.
hello good day to you. sir, just want to know what more games can you play using xbox controller? did you try using xbox controller as an android tv gamepad and did it work? thank you in advance for answering god bless
Are games playable and has only minimal or no lag at all? Are you playing in Full HD or higher resolution? Also, would you know if an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller will work with the Mi Box S? It has a USB Receiver.
Yes the controller should work. The settings on your PC will be the one to be streamed so technically it can be done, but at least you need around 30 - 50mbps download speed to have good experience on 1080p 60fps settings. Mine is running @30mbps already but I still see pixelated parts when the game goes darker
@@joemsoongki I ended up getting a used Steam Link which supports up to FHD @ 60 FPS too. It also streams at max. 30 Mbps even if I'm using Gigabit Ethernet. I was initially hoping I could find another product cheaper than the Nvidia Shield that can at least support QHD @ 60 FPS+. Oh well, at least streaming acceptably works for now. Thanks!
@@wilbertng With ur experience is nvidia shiled better? I have steamlink inbuilt into the smart TV. I have 100mbps download and was hoping since both the TV and PC r directly connected via ethernet cable that it would flawlessly display via steamlink to the tv.
I have tested Dirty Rally, Fallout 4, Lego Jurassic World, Farming Simulator 2015. All in Full HD (I have not 4K TV). All worked fine, without lags. I have Xiaomi box linked on a 100 Mbit LAN. I have low Wifi signal. I use non original XBOX gamepad. There are older games. I have not tried any new game after 2017, so I don't know. But, I think it is just limited by hardware on your PC, because you just stream an picture to TV and it is not depended on Xiaomi Box.
depends on your bandwidth. In my experience you will be prompt if your connection is slow, but it is not lagging, just pixelated. For controls I use a wired controller so there are no input lags. If you are planning to use wireless it will depend on bluetooth of the smart tv. I believe that is the cause of the lag, in the controls
@@joemsoongki I used wired controller as well and input lag was unbearable (like 500ms - 1000ms). My wired controller is inserted into TV and both TV and PC are in wired 100mb/s network.
try to plug the controller on PC with the same game first to know if it is a controller issue or TV box issue. If your analog controller is working on PC and on TV box it is not, you might need to plug your controller on PC (which kind of kill the purpose of this) but there are controllers that need their mappings on PC via button mapping softwares. The TV box will not support that.
i have 25 mbps download speed and so far you can only see it pixelated when there are many black colors on the games (dark games), but if it is colorful like forza, it is the same as playing in PC
My motherboard on my pc does not have bluetooth. Honestly I never tried that because of that but if the wired controller is connected in the Android TV and worked, I guess It should connect in bluetooth as well on Android TV (maybe use some 8bitdo). I will try it and update you
They will not, but in my experience, first I am trying to initialize any games that will work on steam, then if the display is already in my TV, I am minimizing the game and open a game outside steam like Genshin Impact and it will work just be sure that the game is in full screen.
Yeah sorry dude, this was one of my first tutorial videos I created and how I wished I muted the video while adding my voice when I edited it. That's a lesson learned for me. Thanks on your feedback.
