In this third episode of the steam locomotive kit series, the detailing of the locomotive pilot, boiler, and cab area is shown. This involves installing a number of brass castings, making some handrails, making & installing some air & steam lines, and painting the locomotive.

well done sir..looks fantastic...Brass makes a difference, i have two Rivarossi 0-4-0 A5's that run decent, but using your vid to give me ideas..Nice build. thanks for sharing.

Really great! Very inspiring and instructional. How do you drill the holes?

A lot of the holes were drilled with a hand-held pin vise. Where possible, a few were drilled using a miniature drill press (from Micro-Mark). But due to the shape and geometry involved, mostly the pin vise.

Firewall and motor installation coming next ? How about brake details ? Sure makes a good model with all the separate detailing but a lot of work.

Well, I wonder where to draw the line. Frankly I had forgotten about brakes. I don't have the parts and they were not included in the detail kit from Bowser. I think I'll not worry about it since I'm not trying to build a contest model, but just a working loco for the layout. The motor was installed for initial running tests in Episode 2, but can't be installed permanently until after the rods and valve gear are installed and checked out, coming up in Episode 4. Yes, the added details make all the difference!
