Ahh Mr Whelham, if I mention 34007 & Williton, coupled with my sense of humour u might remember me! Lol. Glad u’ve seen the light (SR) & found a little niche to settle into! I must hava wander up at some point & hava nose. Now, u’ve neglected to show us how to cope standing ankle deep in oily water & ashes, trying to oil up one of those western monstrosity’s!! 😂🤣 Looks like paradise there 😎 being all things Southern I would expect no less, lol. BTW loved how u eroded them gloves away!! Go well my son !😊
Very enjoyable. Question: cannot see any separate ash pan on marine pattern boilers, so how does one keep those Bagnall pattern 'bullhead' fireboxes from becoming choked with ash and clinker?
The ash pan is a lower quadrant at the bottom of the boiler ‘circle’, behind the damper. We have a special rake to get the ash out and down a chute in the footplate floor to the track. Great question!
