I booked my campervan in for the night at the aire at Trossachs pier near Aberfoyle in the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park and enjoyed a little adventure making full use of the steamship, the Sir Walter Scott, using my gravel bike to get me back to the start. It was magnificent. A highly recommended day out.
More information on the steamships on Loch Katrine and the campervan aire at Trossachs pier from www.lochkatrine.com
I'm based in the Scottish Highlands and I use a VW campervan to access the great outdoors, where I climb hills, ride my e-bike or gravel bike and just visit some of those places I've never been to. I've been climbing hills and mountains all over the world for 50 years and I'm a former editor of Climber Magazine and The Great Outdoors Magazine.

Great video Cameron, Loch Katrine is one of my favourite places, I haven't done the top to bottom on my bike, but I've gone up halfway and the same from the top. I suppose like a lot of boys from Glasgow my pals and me cycled out to Balloch and camped. We once tried to put up our tent at Duck bay and got told we couldn'y camp there, so we just slept against the wall next to the Loch. Good memories, keep them coming.

Lovely film, that reminded me of doing the same boat trip and bike ride (on ill-fitting bikes hired from the nearby Youth Hostel) with my girlfriend over 40 years ago. The girlfriend is long gone, but I do have a serviceable bike and can think of nowhere better to bring it now I've been reminded of that gorgeous route.

A great vlog Cameron .Brought back some wonderful memories of holidays in the Trossachs back in the 1970's. Also family connections .My late father in law George MacConnell was senior engineer for Glasgow corporation water dept and then Strathclyde .,Oversaw the maintenance of the Sir Walter Scott and my wife has steered her on Loch Katrine. Her brother workred in the cafe and car park .Great memories of a wonderful part of Scotland .Thank you

Cracking little trip and can be done the other way round from Stronachlachar Pier where you can also book an overnight spot that is even more peaceful. Thanks for sharing Cameron - great work! 😊

Scary I’d just seen the Watty Scott was back on and I’d never gone on it and was thinking of taking the bike. It’s great they now have Moho pitches at either end of the piers. Love a ride with a ferry or boat trip. Quite often do Balmaha to Luss but still to do Invertrossach to Tarbet. I’m hoping that the fact they are going to build houses at Stronachlachar isn’t going to spoil the place.

Great scenery and historical info, looks like a good day out. Is the cycle path from Stronachlachar clearly marked?

Amazing scenery Cameron, as a boy in 60s Glasgow we often visited Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, it was a different world from the sooty tenements of Townhead. Were you born in the West of Scotland ? as you sound more Glaswegian than Highland to my ears.

Born in Govan, Glasgow and lived in Glasgow until I was 25 when I moved north to be closer to the hills.
