Making a Steamboat Willie game featuring Oswald the lucky rabbit and Mickey - devlog 6
In this 6th devlog, I'll walk you through the ongoing development of my Steamboat Willie game, showcasing the latest updates made to the game.
Among the new things, I fix some of Oswald's animations, provide a first look at Mickey, and a lot more features.

Great game so far! Here's a few suggestions that I have: -For Oswald's flying animation, you can make his tongue stick out a bit for the classic-cartoonish "focus" animation -For the Mario style death animation, Oswald (and Mickey) can fall through the level in front of the ground instead of behind it, to mirror the Mario death fully -When text pops up, it can be shown to be a bit splotchy/deterierated and have it shake a bit whenever shown plus uneveness if possible. As you get to the "game over" text, the effects will be in full motion, maybe even crashing to the ground or clipping in and out of frames like old films. This can be applied to when the text needs to fade out, if any appears for a short time

I have 2 ideas that may interest you, one of them is to make a 2-player mode, with one player being Mickey and the second being Oswald, another idea could be to give the Epic Mickey brush to Mickey so that Mickey has unique abilities.

I’ve been following about the work of this game ever since the first vid and it’s going along brilliant! The only thing I would suggest is that in video 3 or 4 you talked about different levels and I think Ozzie only got 1 level to himself where mickey got 2 maybe you could do 2 ozzies as well to make it equal? There’s an Ozzie toon called “oils well” which has a good chase sequence you could use as a level. Just an idea!

I recommend you to add a main menu or a character selecter so you can play as Mickey and Oswald =)

The main menu is cooking. I like the character selector idea, but not for the main story, since it wouldn’t work.. or would it🤔

It’s getting better and better, dude! I got some suggestions though: when Oswald or Mickey is scared, add small, but noticeable parentheses around their eyes to give them more detail of the fear. Another this is: when Oswald throws his ears, try making other animations for him catching it and putting it back on. Maybe different versions like jumping while throwing it, or walking/ running while throwing it to make him feel more alive. Overall … good progress!

Could make Julius the villain, considering how much less recognition he gets compared to mickey and even oswald, he hasnt been used since 1927!

Next year do more mickey Mouse cartoon, when there come in public domain, and two do every single year. And three do a wonderland and beanstalk factory dlc. If the remasterd of epic mickey will not bring up. So do it.

In fact he need tô add Félix the cat because it was hum the First Walt Disney Character and Julius came later the same year Félix First appeard

According to my research, Felix the cat was not created by Disney, it was by Pat Sullivan and Otto Messmer in 1919, Julius was created to compete against him basically. Now I could add the public domain version of him anyway, considering he is also part of this story. Thanks for your comment
