In Europe you put vanilla to most desserts. In Southeast Asia we use pandan. It does not smell the same, but basically we add pandan to give a pleasant natural aroma to our desserts.
Hi Helen, I am a Chinese but my husband is a Vietnamese, he is a fan of yours and I become your fan too. Thank you for all you have done. Your recipe is so good. I learned pho from you. I want to wish you a happy new year!!!
My niece (9 yrs old) wanted to try this recipe because of the pandan used in the recipe. We made this dessert today (she helped quite a bit and her 3 year old sister too). It came out PERFECT. It was soft, chewy and fragrant. Between us and their grandma and grandpa, we finished eating the first of two batch in minutes. My mom said it was better than store-bought! I thought so too. Thanks so much Helen! We will try your other recipes.
I have grown up eating these a little bit stale from when my dad bought them when he managed to get out to China town 30 years ago....I can't wait to try these myself and eat them fresh! The mung bean layer was always my favourite part! Thank you! x
I really like watching your video. You are realy throughly with your recipes demo. It is very easy to understand and I hope it is easy to make like the way you show them on your video. I will try to make it to see how it turns out. Thank you so much for your step by step demo. I really like your demo and recipes.

My and my siblings tried this recipe for the first time today (took us about 4 hours). And the cake is just perfectttttttttttttttttt. We got compliments and had fun together. Thank you Helen
thank you Helen:) I finally made this recipe and I can't wait to try it! It's still cooling off. I"ll let you know how it tastes soon! Thanks again for all your wonderful videos!
Love your recipes! I’ve made this a few times and it is so good. The last couple of times I made it, however, I noticed it is softer and stickier than usual. Do you know what could cause that?
Hi Helen, I have made banh da lon by following your receipt, It turned out awesome! My question is how do I make it a bit more chewier but still keep the soft ess?
Hi Helen, thank you for sharing your recipes! You explain it so well that it gives me courage to try something new! I did wonder about pandan extract. Where would I find this? Can I substitute another flavoring for it?
:))) lg
I have to tell you,....that you are adorable!!! and i love this recipe, I work as a cook at a college cafeteria and wanted to try something new and i think this is it :)
They look great! I love these, it'd be difficult to find some ingredient though... I'd probably be better of just buying the cakes, sometimes I see them with purple and green layers.
Helen!! Thank you so much for this recipe!! I have not had this since I lived in Thailand about 40+ years ago. I am DEFINITELY going to try it out. My sister-in-law is Vietnamese and I would LOVE to surprise her with this wonderful recipe. Are you still making recipes and sharing them online? I would love to get your cookbook!! Thank you so much for sharing. You have a beautiful voice and you explained everything just perfectly!! *hugs
