the second week of April 2024 saw the annule Burton Automotive, Hunter Valley Steamfest once again Held in Maitland.
a day before the event, Transport Heritage NSW ran their Steamfest Flyer and transfer trains to Maitland.
4501, 4201 and 4916 had ran ahead early in the morning with the accommodation train for the for the members who where helping out during the weekend. while 6029 and 3526 would later a little later in the morning.
the Garrett and 35 would run together as far as Flemington where then the Garret would go ahead and to Denistone to a wait the 35 which would follow shortly.
After the 35 picked up it's passengers it would then start the run run and meet with the Garrett for a parallel from Dennistone to Pennant Hills. After that, the 35 would continue ahead to as fa as Hawkesbury river where it would take on water and wait for 6029 and a Melbourne to Brisbane intermodal to pass by before continuing on north.
upon passing through Gosford where the garrett was meant to be stopped to await the 35 to over take it, had instead been sent on ahead of the 35 for the rest of the run.
after a brief stop at Broadmeadow to allow some passengers of the train, the 35 would continue with the last leg of the run to Maitland where the train would be based out of for the weekend.
