Steaming Elk 

Wildlife Photography. A herd of about 200 elk north of Gardiner, MT. It was a frosty morning below zero and the early low angle light was illuminating their warm breath. When I returned at sunset, they were still there. The elk were making their way across the road to bed down for the night in an irrigated hay field. Maybe they were looking for a late night snack.
