Thats because the engines are exactly identical to the real ones, just smaller. But they work the same way.

Super cool! I'm still hoping to see you take a couple of them on the rails :-). I did find out there's a group in Houston that has steam locomotives, one of these days I'm going to get over there and try to watch one of their operation sessions

If you put effort into it I'm sure you'll find one closer. Only recently I found out that there's a permanent club setup under 3 miles from the home I've lived in for *twenty years!* They've been there since 5 years before I moved in here.

Is it difficult servicing engines with inside cylinders or is there usually a easy way to remove the boiler built in for ease of access?

I agree, but it is not usually a practical proposition to remove the boiler for routine servicing . . .

Some of your home video clips have been deinterlaced wrong, the frame jumps backwards and forwards because the field setting is the opposite of what it should be which is usually top field first. This happens at 00:32 and 00:57, I just thought you might like to know if you wanted to transfer what I assume are tapes again to have them play correctly.

My live steamer has a steel boiler, if I blow done with low pressure, the boiler never dries out internally and therefore rusts. I was shocked when I saw Redwood Valley shut off the oil fire of the 15" gage 5" scale loco and immediately blow down. I try to blow down fairly hot and have been doing so for 10 years without incident.

Steel boilers have a different management regime than copper boilers, blowing down a small proportion of the boiler contents while in full steam removes scale and sediment build up in steel boilers.
