GOD THIS IS AMAZING. Its absolutely 100% amazing and lemme tell you why. I've never seen someone use ambience like an instrument, like you do, and this song is absolutely a mastery of ambiance. The wet, quenching noises? As percussion? Using the sounds of wet, torn flesh to set the rhythm of the song? I dont have *words* to describe how much I fucking love that. And Oliver and Gumi? I adore how instead of the lyrics being a focal point of the song, telling a story, the lyrics are adding to this vague picture of squishy, bloody horror. Theres not a single part of this song that isnt an absolute vibe. Honestly, thank you Steam, for every song you do, and making every Halloween so special.

Imma take a bold statement and say it's about a abandoned house, left to rot, filled with maggots and moss, wanting to feed on life, for eternal loneliness would lead to insanity, growing angry and hungry, against life itself, consuming anything that dares to enter it, it was abandoned and forgotten by it's creator, and it now wants revenge, or atleast, whatever took it as host wants to, plus, this reminds me of "The house on the Hill"

"PS Don't wear headphones" .... This either means the song has loud noises, subliminal frequences that'll mess with my mind, or the song has the foulest lyrics ever written and you're tricking me into playing it around the neighbors. In that case, that description right there? It's suspicious.

Kind of reminds me of something from Vampire: The masquerade. There was a group nicknamed Monsters who could shift flesh to however they pleased, their own and others. They would change themselves and make wondrous works of fleshy "art." They would sometimes force other vampires into these pieces of art. The most infamous was the *Cathedral of Flesh.* It was a horribly beautiful place, entirely of flesh, a living building that hungered. I like to think that a family once lived in the house, but then a carnivorous creature viciously killed and ate everyone, except for one and used them as a host, but they refuse to leave the home, so the creature won’t kill anymore people. Maybe they’ve stayed in the home for so long now that they’re now fusing into the house and just stuck there to suffer together and forced to remember all the blood and gore the creature has done in the past.

Here’s my theory (CW FOR DISCUSSION OF CHILD ABUSE): I’m late as hell (A WHOLE YEAR…) but I think this song is clearly about the cycle of abuse, most likely sexual abuse. You hear really tragic stories about survivors of childhood sexual trauma growing into abusers themselves. I want to clarify that this is absolutely not true of most people and I don’t intend to stigmatize at all. It’s only something that happens in some very unfortunate cases. If the lyrics are interpreted as being from the survivor’s point of view, the house can be considered a metaphor for his body which he feels is rotten and foul because of what he suffered through. The person who abused him is portrayed in the lyrics as some sort of parasitic creature that has become a part of him. In other words, that inclination to mistreat people has warped his psyche. Ultimately, the narrator doesn’t want to hurt anyone which is why he keeps trying to resist what are ultimately intrusive thoughts pushing him towards a breaking point at which he may act out. I know this theory sounds really dark but it’s just what it made me think of… I hope to not have offended anyone..

I am amazed on how people can make such a good horror song! Listening to creepy Oliver makes me happy. I think this is his best genre.

Although this is kind of late I just want to show how much I love this song The sounds of flesh and wet quenching noises, top tier. The descent into madness, fantastic. This gave me inspiration for a story and one character in particular. The image of fragile young girl who looks human enough just distorting into a toothy and hungry beast is 10/10. This song has no story is the ripping and tearing of flesh to feed a carnic monster.

I don't know what you guys think but here's my theory I think the song is about a disease, which can spread like wildfire. someone caught it and has to quarantine themself in their house. "dark, in dark, all alone"= they have to stay far from everyone "the blood, the flesh, the scent abhors" is because staying in their house could drive them crazy, and they could eat something like a live deer that wandered by. another explanation for this line, fortified by the next line "must... must feed" is that giving in a barren area with out food would have made them extremely hungry, forcing them to eat it. the lines after this, "tear the flesh, drink the blood, crush the bones" are what you would have to do, with little time to cook, to eat it. must not spread is obvious, and I must feed is what we just discussed. this also the first time we hear "We must spread" and "we must feed". they are trying to resist the voices in their head telling them to spread the disease. the chorus is them going crazy with their hunger, and verse 2, "End, no end... blood... and gore.... the taste, the pain, makes me sick" is how they really feel about eating insane foods. rotting walls, "maggots crawl" is just the state of the house . we have talked about must not spread, I must feed, and the first part of the chorus, but the second part might mean something. end less screams: the scream like sounds of the animals when they are shot/stabbed, endless pain: the discomfort of eating the raw, bloody meat, desecrate blood and flesh: probably means stripping them clean of it. then its the same from then. the next part, however, fortifies this theory by a lot... "In the middle of a darkened room a single man lay, when amongst the lovely pictures around, a creature came to play." this means that something came to spread the disease to them."With a single SWOOP upon the flesh, the jaws connected with skin." fortified that the disease is Rabies, and the creature was a bat. the word swoop is sometimes associated with bats, which are major carriers of rabies.
