Steampunk Dragon 

Totally awesome!!! I just purchased a full size roboreptile from eBay, and my first thought was to try steampunk. I searched for steampunk painting techniques and came across your wonderful tutorials. After watching the 4th tutorial, amazingly this Steampunk Dragon tutorial came up. You have saved me so much time! Thankyou so much! I will have to slightly modify the design to keep full functionality of the robot, but the look is really what I had in mind! :)

Yes it does, although it is a little stiff (because of paint seeping along the joints). It might be worth masking the joints a bit to improve movement. Although manually moving it after painting worked in this case for me.

Yes they do. The legs stick a bit at first, but as the paint wears a bit they free up again.

Which paint? Do you mean the texture paint? Its is spray paint that produces a rough coating often used to give objects a stone like appearance.

Another great build. I love how childrens toys get repurposed. It gives me hope that I could brew up a low cost sci-fi / steampunk short.

This is a dark brown enamel wash. You can buy these from model shops.

IMHO, distressed leather wings would have looked more in with the theme.
