A final flip-through of finished Steampunk junk journal. I am showing lots of fun steampunk journal ideas for page embellishing inside, journal pockets and tucks and ideas for journal tags and cards. I have a number of embellishing techniques represented in the journal, including how to use digital prints in a journal and how to alter these digitals, distressing with inks and paint, and using fibers, lace and metal in a journal.
The cover is from that single color, chocolate colored Reader’s Digest book and I’ve made that into a lovely mixed media cover for the journal. I’ve used a dry brushed and blended paint technique together with texture paste and two die-cuts to create the steampunk mood. The cover size is 7 and 3/4 inches by 5 and 1/2 inches and a 1.25-inch spine. I have used a lot of cream colored cotton lace on the edges of the pages, to mimic a ruffled petticoat! The cover also has a brushed silver button with a simple hair tie closure.
There are 25 pockets and tuck spots in the journal for collecting papers and notes and these are stuffed with 28 pieces of ephemera - some are creatively recycled from junky papers and one is a beautifully original antique railroad document with space on the back for journaling.
This journal is for a swap on the Junk Journal Junkies facebook group. It’s been fun to play along with other talented journal makers. The journal is also my design team project for StacyStories on Etsy and I have used Stacy’s Vintage Grungy Steampunk digital kit - fun papers and great steampunk images!
