I played in a band with Joey in 1984 shortly before he joined Anthrax. He had a golden voice and could sing anything. We did Rush, Triumph, Kansas , Dio and many others and he did them all brilliantly.
He must be taking some secret magic Wakandan potion or else how can we explain this crystal clear perfect voice coming out from 52 yo man who sings in trash metal band.
@@jeremybennett3104 I used to scream. Had thyroid cancer also and had my neck fused c3-c7 front and back. Lost all highs but I can sing better than ever now. :-P Not that I was ever any good to begin with but ya gotta start somewhere right? Here's a band I screamed for before the surgeries .... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FXGkWZFHsOg.html
Does anyone else find it funny that the former lead singer of Anthrax is on stage with a glam band singing Journey! Steel Panther, bringing peace and uniting the metal world's many genres all over. On this night, Thrash fans and Glam fans were one!
He's been back since 2010 and has made 2 Anthrax Albums in 2011 and 2016. He also did a covers album with Anthrax and you better believe he did Journey on it.
The trash bands liked to talk bad ass like they were better than the glam bands, but truth is they all partied together backstage. But Anthrax never really talked down on other bands or acted like they were better than the glam bands.
Joey has always gotten respect from rock fans who never liked thrash metal through the years. His vocal range for his age has never strayed away, and I highly doubt it's going to anytime soon.
Joey? Wow. He can really, and I mean really still hit the notes at his age. I saw Journey recently with the new guy. I wish to God it had been with Joey.
@@DunmoresMovieMania Not with the Anthrax base, I'd think. The boys from Anthrax have been covering all kinds of stuff since back in the day, and they were the ones who did that stuff with Public Enemy. Of all the Big Four, I'd say Anthrax are the most inclined to venture outside of thrash.
I watched Joey Belladonna do this song in the back room of Shenanigans bar in Syracuse, NY a few years ago. Was standing ten feet away from the man. Absolutely unbelievable talent.
Steel Panther have a knack for creating 'moments'. They are one of the best live acts going and seem so at ease with sharing their stage. Love them. Roll on Feb 2020 UK tour
Lol, one of my friends loves steel panther but always bags on aldo nova, who I happened to like a lot in the early 80s. Imagine my surprise to find an awesome and serious cover of "fantasy" on one of their records. My friend turned red in the face when I brought that up. Im all if aldo nova sucks so bad how come they did that-and obviously not a parody. He just said I was hoping youd never hear that!
Steve Perry can't sing his songs like it was composed, unfortunately. Joey is much more technically gifted singer, than Steve, because he didn't lost his vioce after all this years and numerous shows he did around the world.
I say this seriously and without jest....Steel Panther is definitely one of the best bands in the world! They're all great musicians, but Satchel's technical ability is really stunning! And Starr's vocals are equally amazing!
This is fucking incredible. I'm a HUGE Steel Panther fan, and grew up listening to Anthrax and Celtic Frost... Joey has always been an amazing vocalist, and part of that is he kept his nose as clean as he could because he cared about what he did. Hear him now. FUCK YEAH!
I must say I was kinda nervous to hear this cause after all it’s “Steve Perry” I mean the guy is a legend. But wow Joey you sounded pretty damn good!!!!! Love it!
I love how many people are saying, oh wow, didn't know Joey could sing like that, or hit those high notes! All of us in the metal community have known this for close to 35 years!! Keep on rockin Chief Belladonna!!!!
Randy Wissler Absolutely, He’s sung that high and as good with Anthrax songs. Watch him on the Big 4 DVD and other recent footage. Joey just nails it and his voice has aged like fine wine. I dig his voice with Anthrax. Made them unique and stand apart from the tradition semi sung, rough thrash vocalist.
I'm really glad that joey has been back in anthrax these past years, I think the fans all over really love this guy and he said in the anthrax documentary his heart was always there when they had let him go. Classic Anthrax- Bellodonna, spitz, benante, ian and bello.
One of the most underrated singers in metal, Joey is just fucking awesome, this performance doesn't surprise me, just listen to Anthrax most recent records and live performances and you'll see, and no auto tune.
HELL YEA!!! Love it! Of course, we know joey can sing, been a fan since the 86-87 area. One of the best voices in all metal and as we see in just rock music period!
Joey has an amazing voice. He is a true professional in every way possible. The other guy just basically gives up as Joey is certainly an another level!
+MrPedawdaw indeed. Dave is my least favorite although a lot his riffs are in the very top hahaha. Btw, you are an Indonesian, aren't you? It really surprises me to be commented by an Indonesian hahaha :D
Norbert Nicolas he actually has his own Journey cover band for just playing at bars in his off time. He also plays keyboard and drums. He's not just your average metal singer. Besides, James Hetfield sings country, so why not classic rock for Joey?
