You could do with a movement holder and some finger cots. Some rodico is often needed for dial cleaning, as the blower doesn't always get off all the dust. Especially sticky specs.

Thanks for the suggestion. I do use finger cots now, but still haven't tried using movement holder :D But you aren't the first who tell me this, I will order it now!

Instead of the Bergeon dial protector, just use a thin piece of plastic. It does the same thing, is free, and keeps the hands from pinging off into infinity when they pop loose. Also - if you want to keep a dial but change the color of the indices, you can just use a sharpie to make the indices any color you want. The lume still shines. Same thing with the hands. If you want a different dial/hands but want them in a different color, same deal. Just color them. You can even color the indices on the bezel insert on most inserts. I got a 20 pack of sharpies and I even blend them to make unique colors. And - if you want the day/date wheels a different color, just make sure you buy a watch with white wheels and you can just stick a small piece of clear packing tape onto the back of the dial, over the day/date window, and then color the tape whatever color you want with a sharpie. That way, the wheels aren't permanently colored. You can also just color the wheels BUT the solvent in the sharpie will dissolve the days/dates on some wheels. I learned that the hard way. That's how I figured out the tape method. I have the exact same watch you're modding but with a black case and I colored all of the indices lime green, added custom lime green hands, and swapped to a lime green strap and now it looks like a full-blown custom build. I think the watch was $48, the strap and deployant buckle combo was $12, and the hands were $10. You could never buy a full custom watch for $70 but I absolutely love this one. If you search for "My second Captain Willard build" on Reddit you can see it.

Thank you for this video! I think that a silver-dialed Willard is a beautiful thing to behold. You've inspired me to build a mod with my own hands! I've opened and regulated three of my watches, had to take out one from its case to remove a bit of debris from underneath the crystal (which I somehow got there durning regulation...) and I felt I could take it to the next level. After seeing this video I bought a Steeldive, a silver dial (hopefully just as nice as the one you got), and a bunch of tools. It's gonna be my first mod, hand removal, dial glueing, and all that jazz. Wish me luck!

I have the same 4 dials and they're great but what angers me the most, none of the 20+ hands i ordered are the same color. Either they're too green, or too white. These dials have off-white markers and it's really frustrating!!!
@ShortBetter
@ShortBetter Год назад
😄 I understand you. But sometimes, even when hands and markers have different colours, after you assemble the watch, it looks beautiful anyway

Wow, nice modding! I have this watch and I want to change the back cover to a transparent one. I found transparent back cover on Ali with 33x29.9 mm, but I dont know it will fit correctly or not. Maybe someone already did this and know inner diameter? P.s. Steeldive store couldn't answer my question
@ShortBetter

Is it possible change automatic movt to quartz? How difficult is this? Crown, hands will be ok without any modifications
@ShortBetter
@ShortBetter 8 месяцев назад
Technically it's possible. But no-date dial will be the only option. Hands should be specifically for the quartz movement you want to use

Can I put a Seiko stargate dial attached to a 7s36 movement or an skx dial attached to a 7s26 movement in the sd1970 case with no mods?
@ShortBetter
@ShortBetter 9 месяцев назад
If the size of 7s26/36 movement is the same as NH35, then no problems
@roadgent7921
@roadgent7921 Год назад
Could you fit a VH31 movement in this case? 👍
@ShortBetter
@ShortBetter Год назад
It's so much smaller than NH35... Technically it's possible, if to make a spacer with 3d printer, but I don't have it :D

Mostly Aliexpress. But better quality and more expensive dials I recommend Dial maker, Namoki, and other websites

Where do you buy your mod parts?
@ShortBetter

Different sources. Depends what I need. Aliexpress has more options and it's cheaper. Namoki, watchmodz and other stores have better quality parts but the price is 2-3x
