For a split second Russ made me feel like that interception he threw in the Super Bowl doesn’t necessarily signal the end of his appearances in the big game. Steelers might be the team that helps him get there again and hopefully it’s a 180 for him this time around in terms of the outcome.

Ya I can’t figure out why everyone bashed Russ. He didn’t turn the ball over and he wasn’t on a top tier team in any phase in Denver. Now he’s got a good defense to help out and a running game that should be awesome behind a young line. Least I hope I’m right.

Steelers playoff drought began with OC Haley the year BEFORE Fichtner was made OC. HC Tomlin loves Fichtner and continues to fully endorse Matt Canada's OC work. Steelers have had their worst most embarrassing playoff losses ever in the year of the last win and since then. Tomlin is 3-8 in playoffs the last 2 decades: 2 of the 3 wins were against back-ip QB's and the 3rd against a 40 something journeyman QB who retired after the game. Steelers overall have been playoff losers over all this decade and last decade and have not been contenders since 2 decades ago. Mike Tomlin holds the record as going by far the most consecutive years without a single playoff win (8 years ago) of all the current NFL Head Coaches. The problem has not just been the last 2 OC's who Tomlin hired and kept. The only common denominator is Tomlin.

​@@trebordrumi agree with everything but haley. He was a the right(ish) oc for the job but because of him butting heads with ben thats what caused some of it. Tomlin is at fault and i do believe IF things go south he SHOULD be on the hot seat and its why i question the extension... now i fear hell go back to being cozy and content if russ flames out. Kinda like pickett for a little until he had no choice but to go to mason. I believe in the QB room as a whole and fully believe russ shouldnt play till the 2nd preseason game and let fields and the other 2 battle week 1 of preseason. If that makes sense

It was only Haley’s last year in 2017 when the Tomlins eight year drought began. my first post is that the problem with the Steelers hasn’t just been simply the OCs Truth is Steelers most successful OC was Bruce Arians who owns twice as many Steelers Super Bowl rings as Tomlin and he also has won twice as many AFC championships with the Steelers than Tomlin has won. I’m not talking overall and with the Buccaneers or the Colts for both of which teams Bruce Arians one coach of the year by the way, but I’m talking just with the Steelers Bruce Arians is WON twice as much championship Steelers hardware as Tomlin Tomlin let him go because the players loved Bruce Arians even more than Mike Tomlin. in fact, Ben considered Bruce his best friend. 2007 Tomlin wise enough to keep guys like Arians and Dick LeBeau and John Mitchell, etc. who were all from Bill Cowher staff and that’s why Tomlin‘s first four years were successful because he left Cowher guys like that in place. After Tomlin‘s first four years, these last two decades, Mike T has consistently gotten rid of the coaches who the players love more than Mr. Tomlin himself and the more loved coaches include Dick LeBeau, who was not retiring like Rooney and Tomlin lied about it. Also includes Mike Munchak who should’ve been offered more money and allowing him to leave for unilateral move for the same pay could’ve paid extra for him to be able to fly to Denver to see whenever he wanted but they didn’t try to keep him because players loved coach Munch even more than Coach Tomlin. BTW, Haley seem good largely because he was actually coach Munchak who did all the OC duties for the running game both designing and calling the running plays every game and that wasn’t Haley doing that was more than just the old line coach he was also assistant offensive coordinator. Bill Cowher’s guy John Mitchell was the assistant head coach, but Tom moved him into the front office instead of as the assistant head coach because players loved John Mitchell more than admittedly loved Tomlin himself. Same as true for Bruce Arians and since he left, none of the OCs have been all that good and the three we’ve had have gotten progressively worse and worse and worse after Arians. #TradeTomlin #3FirstRoundPixTomlinTrade #BringBackBill #BringBackCoachMunch
