And you can be sure they will never make music like this ever again I grew up with everyone of these dudes and they are very individual and very talented. I grew up with all of them but Miljenko.
Gods those pipes!! I weep for today's children who know nothing but autotune, their sensibilities are so deadened they don't even know to crave the sensory experience of true passions.
This was my late husband's and mine favorite song. Was the last song I played as he took his last breathe and a tear that rolled down his face before he passed on as I gave him our last kiss.. Not my last tear, been 11 years and I still am in loved with him and miss him as much as yesterday. He is forever in my heart and soul. Was Bless with 28 years together. Just wish I had more. Till we meet again my one and only love. R.I.P JEFF. Forever your Angel
Stunning love 💕.. you do know he is in every breath you take.. every one.. the moment of reconnect will be nothing we on earth will see hear or know..it will be beond all reckoning.. you have a grace that will spill over you in ways we cannot comprehend.. keep your heart head and love on point.. when it is time..wow..it will have been worth the wait.. peace ✌️.
It's not even just the songs. Listen to the mixing and production of this song. This song is 33 years old now. Listen to it on noise cancelling headphones. You can hear the bass. The drums aren't too loud. The lead singer's voice is "up front" where you can hear it. Everything sounds CLEAR and leveled. Listen to music these days. It sounds like SHIT. Nobody knows how to mix and master and synch music anymore. Bands are doing mixing and production in home studios using desktop software and their finished albums sound like muddled garbage. Hair metal bands had sound engineers cutting pieces of tape and doing constant replays on analog machines. AND IT SOUNDS BETTER 30+ YEARS LATER, EVEN AS IT'S OBSOLESCENT TECHNOLOGY.
Hair metal bands are the lab-grown generic pop music of their day. The same opinion you have of mediocre corporate music created just to make money is literally the definiton of about 70-80% of glam rock bands. Unoriginal lyrics, simple, repetitive compositions, cut-and-paste solo riffs, exchangeable members with no clear uniqueness. Don't get me wrong, I love that era of music, but let's not blow smoke up their asses.
@@MoonshineSazerac .... Junk, but it's an emotional thing. It felt good and the chicks loved it. It served a purpose and it served it very well. Now truthfully, blackberry smoke and Cody jinks are top of the line. Yee yee 🇺🇲🦅🪂👍🏼
Hands down, the best voice of any front man that I've ever heard. I was blown away when the song first came out and I'm still blown away today. Absolutely awesome!!
This was my dad's favourite song.. My dad died a few days ago,he died from lung cancer... thank u steelheart for this song which my dad enjoyed alot during his lifetime.
It's been 30 years and my University still plays music from the 80's during football games. Evidently nothing good has come since then. The greatest decade in history.
This song came out in 1990..I was 17 years old. I hear this song and close my eyes and I’m instantly taken back to that place and time where love was so easy and life was a little more carefree...thanks for the memories Steelheart❤️💯
There were a lot of great vocalist back then, as well as guitarists and drummers. They had the looks, the sound and the charisma that created an era in music that will never be able to be repeated the same way. I am lucky to have grown up with this rock metal era... it still is a favorite of mine.
Honestly one of the best vocal talents from the late 80’s…so underrated and they came in at the last minute, before the 90’s took over. Up there with Bach and Tate, just swooped in a little too late. One of my favorite songs still today! 🤘🏻🫶🏻❤️
I grew up in the 80's listening to rock bands and they were truly amazing the songs now are not the same. I miss the times of good and talented artists
One of the most passionate, beautiful songs of commitment ever recorded. I was deep in love when it was recorded. I am now deep in loneliness in my life. But I cry happy tears when I hear this song! It reminds me of how I was so lucky to be in such a deep love. I love you Joanne, the years with you were the greatest years of my life!
Probably one of the finest examples of a strong band with a killer vocalist, and great guitar-tone... lost in the mix because of the "look." This song and this era will always be special to me.
Steve Sullivan tons of music that was awesome in the 70s and 80s is buried because today it isnt "popular" like country is, and its dated like you said because of the "look" but go beyond that and youll find some of the best singers, songwriters and musicians to come down the pike. nuff said
I'm currently on my wife's RU-vid channel and gotta say that for being 49 years old and being a huge METALHEAD, this song still and alwayz remain super close to OUR hearts
@@reginaldperreault6500 yes but he can't hit that high note anymore...best of all time so underated...vocal coaches today are blown away when he belts out his ballards

Heck i WAS in my 20's early 30's back then and i MISSED THIS!. i was into metal/hair bands of the time. I'm dumbfounded in that i never heard this till now..
In my opinion, there are not too many male singers that can sing high notes BEAUTIFULLY, and Michael is one of them, his high notes are just outstanding!
I'm here in 2021 for this. I showed this to my 12 year old daughter and 18 year old daughter and it was fun to see how memorized they were by his vocal range! I spent the afternoon introducing them to Steelheart, White Lion, Journey, Skid Row, Cinderella, and all the rock bands from my youth! 💗
The lyrics in this song make me cry. Makes me think of my wife, who is up in n heaven. I will never let her go, she is always on my mind, and she was my dream come true. Love you forever Tracie my everything.
Miljenko is one of THE most overlooked, underrated, disrespected male vocalists, regardless of genre, period. And this is coming from a hardcore Geoff Tate fan since the 80s. Man never got the respect he deserved for the range he has, and fearlessness in using it so often. Mad props.
My fiance dedicated this song to me and before we could marry he died of cancer. So everytime I hear this song I think of him. He was and always will be the light of my life. Love you always Scott
Scott had good taste in music & greater taste in who he loved, Im sure.... Hear his voice in the words & smile... Soo sorry for this to have happened to you..,
Miss this kind of music. I was in high school in the 80's, graduated in 1989, and it was the best Time and music. Today's music gives me anxiety so I have CDs from back then. Helps me get things done better. Anyone else relate?
The demons changed the frequency in which we listen to music!!! It is now designed to program us, or keep our vibrational frequency low. We are controllable than!!!
..... Everyone, who loves Steelheart in Southern California, come out this Thursday night to THE CANYON in Montclair, CA. Steelheart is playing!!!! And the opening band that is playing before Steelheart is the Badazz Metal band KANTATION!!! Thursday night at The Canyon Montclair!
Backing tracks were very much in use, auto tune was invented the same year this song was written, whilst Steelheart did use backing tracks live this was recorded and produced without auto tune.
So His name is Mili ❓❤️ Sincerely Darlene an American Girl Who has a thing for drummers ❤️❤️❤️ BTW I subscribed to Your channel on RU-vid ‼️😎💯❤️♥️ Sincerely Darlene an American Girl Who has a thing for drummers ❤️♥️♥️
Incomparable. No other heavy metal or hard rock bands had a singer that could touch him. Not even Axyl Rose or Steven Tyler. Nobody that I've heard can top him on that song.....
@@melvinnixon2378At this point in time Geoff Tate was definitely on Mili's level. Unfortunately Geoff ruined his voice so by now, they aren't even comparable.
I have been searching for this song for literally over 20 years! I've asked around on numerous occasions, describing the singer, and comparing him to the best vocalists of this time period, and everyone always referenced other bands that I knew where not them. I haven't heard this since the early 90's on our local rock station. Saw it on the side bar after watching Vixen, and knew almost immediately this was the band...SO glad I finally found this! How the hell did grunge ever take over when this kind of writing, talent and musicianship was happening at the same time?!? For me, "the" singers of this time were this fellow, Sebastian Bach, and Mark Slaughter. There were a few others, and many great singers back then, but those three just killed it. P.S. And damn, Geoff Tate, how could I forget him...
+facelessfatloss Don't pine so much...grunge was the new wave out of Seattle in the early nineties because of bands like Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and STP... very heavy and amazingly deep lyrics from guys you would look at and think they could hardly string two coherent words together. Revel in all of it...80's had some incredible influences on Grunge...go listen to Misfits and then look at the Glenn Danzig catalog with Danzig right before the Grunge wave hit....Lucifuge and Lucifuge II were practically the match that set off the Grunge explosion with their descending chords and heavy sound as well as deep lyrics. Too many people put the music of any generation on a pedestle...man, it's music. Listen to Robert Johnson's collected works if you want to hear some really cool stuff that was recorded in the 30's...music is timeless, it is only we that change, the audience .
Abdullah Mikail I'm not "pining" about anything, you misunderstood my intent, and I'm not putting anything on a pedestal, since I'm at heart a jazz fan from the 40's-forward more than anything else. I also disagree with your opinions on grunge; there was absolutely nothing special about 95% of it, ("Angry Chair" and "Jeremy" were very good, but only a few other tracks from those bands) nothing that hadn't already been done, with the exception of saving record companies big bucks by eliminating the technology boom that was happening at the time. Garage bands were far cheaper to re-market than the forward movers were; and three-chord rock had already been done ad nauseam. As to "amazing deep lyrics"...we're in two different worlds on that one. The only reason they would be "amazing" is because the audience was so young, they'd never been exposed to countless of the 70's material with far superior lyrics. Unless you're suggesting that the shock of "guys who looked like the couldn't string two words together" was what was so magical about it; in which case what you consider admirable and what I do are two different things. ;)
Condescension is the pallet of the arrogant...in a sound bite you are never going to "get it"...And yes, I noted the 5%...one being Soundgarden, go read the lyrics, Pearl Jam, the same...their lead singer was a fan of Soundgarden before his own band took off. Lyrics are poetry, you don't have to hear them sung...read them. Soundgarden got industry accolades for lyrics, Rolling Stone magazine even gave them props, so it a bit bigger than "my opinion"And perhaps I missed your intent...but seriously, searching for 20 years? Do you like in cave? You may have missed my point as well, no generation of music is any better than another, your comment on the 70's is just you putting something on a pedestal, or did I miss that intent as well? The variety of music is amazing...even some of the greatest commercial successes borrowed from others...Metallica? Go look up Budgee "Breadfan" a British band, and then Diamondhead "The Prince" ... inspiration is like fresh air, only someone with their nose in the air misses it now and then because of the rain.
Abdullah Mikail Once again you're both misunderstanding my intent and misreading. I am expressing an opinion, so I don't care about what any other alleged authorities have to say about what is/is not creative and talented. It is not arrogant nor condescending when I simply think the music and lyrics suck. But as referenced, I also come from a predominantly jazz-based interest, so the talent and skill I look for is above the norm as a general rule. (Sorry, was that condescending and arrogant?). I won't listen to any other grunge, so posting examples is wasting your time. I explored it at the time, and it wore it's course in short order. Nothing about almost any of the composition or lyrics held my attention. As a comparison, check out what James Brown was doing in the 60's, say "Mother Popcorn." Then compare it to Pearl Jam or Soundgarden. Sorry...just my opinion...but not a single grunge drummer can even begin to compete. I will give the song "No Excuses" however a high five for having something at least fun and interesting on the percussion line. Not saying I hated grunge dude; I just only liked less than 5% of what it offered. I would say I "hated" rap, for example (still do). Just my opinions. My condescending and arrogant opinions with nose held high.
@Steelheart : Once upon a time, rock artists produced quality songs both lyrically and musically. It was a delight for the ears of every rock music lover. You could listen to it endlessly. It had a special impact for many. I'll Never Let You Go... released in 1990 and still popular in 2023...! Don't let such quality songs go to waste, it would be a shame. Thank you Miljenko MATIJEVIC for this heartwarming masterpiece and may you be well. Beautiful memories of you buddy...! Greetings from Belgium (Europe) and Florida (USA).
This was the last song my Dad responded to then he took his last breath & crossed over. He loved this song now it's part of me Forever! Thanx guys!☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Karl Kirschstein, I'm so sorry for your Mother's passing I believe in Angel's no doubt in my mind I died during surgery they lost me 6 times that day I know what I saw & how I felt when I saw The Bright Light & it's Beautiful something we'll never see on earth. You never really die. Love ya know that Angel's are real! 🦋
Mark Millsap, your so right. God is Amazing I can promise you that. Hang on to God He's your best friend. I've got alot of Orb's that I've caught on my Samsung J7 phone for almost 2yrs but don't know how to get them on RU-vid. I'm gonna get some 1 I know to help me get them on my ytube soon. I want to share them with others. Take care & I'm on here most every night lol. Thank you for your kind words. 🦋🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊
Holy smokes! For the past 20 years I've listened to and admired all the 70's and 80's rock tenors. How on earth has THIS guy dodged my radar until now? 😮 I can't even find the appropriate words to describe those vocals 🤯
I'm glad to have lived to hear songs like this and also the years 70/80/90 They where amazing When i tell my kids they don't understand me But me and my friends know it
One of the best hair-band voices, not to mention he plays guitar AND piano, and was nice to look at. He's still performing and can still do a decent job of hitting high notes. Very nice song.
Steelheart was JUST ON THE VERGE of Superstardom but because of a freak accident/injury to Matijevic (lead singer) when an improperly secured stage truss fell on him! But for that ONE freaking accident, Steelheart would have joined Guns & Roses, Motley Crue, etc into Metal Superstardom! What a vocal range on par with and probably BETTER than even Sebastian Bach (Skid Row), Axel Rose (GnR) and approaching the female vocal range of those singers from Heart and even getting into Mariah Carey and Celine Dion ranges! DAMN! I miss those days! Everyone gettin' old and going onto the eternal metal stages of the upstairs! RIP Eddy Van Halen -- Guitar God -- Tuesday, October 6, 2020. May We All Never Die Young! V
I don’t think they were close to superstardom tho...They came out around the same time hairband music was ending. The freak accident just accelerated things Yes, the people we grew up listening to are biting the dust. It’s sad
The '80's really were the best era for music! The musicians were so talented- they actually had to play instruments and write their own songs. It was a way of life ..each of us so loyal to our favorite bands. Waiting for Hit Parader magazine, or Circus, etc . To come out so we could learn that little piece of info about our bands. Anticipation for when the next album would come out....waiting for their newest song to hit the radio. Then...,.the concerts!!!! It wasn't just a show, but a right of passage. Our teenage rooms plastered with the magazine pictures of our heros,.. going through cans of Aqua Net hairspray!! It was such a an incredible time to be young!!!
Same. I’m pretty sure at least my oldest (20) was conceived while this song played. Honorable mention to all the ones that didn’t make it while my wife was still on her birth control lol!
I don't think bands like this....back in these times, realise that they have left a trail of gold. No bands come close anymore. Thanks guys. Your legacy is greater than you think
Thank you Grant!!!! I was 20 and a lead guitar player in 1980!! I watched music evolve after Eddie Van Halen scared the crap out of every one in 1977!! He paved the way for bands like this to become greater guitar players and singers were coming out of the wood works like this until 1993 and grunge took over! It was magical for rock and roll in those times!! Rock wasnt the misfit music in those days!! It was on top of all pop, country for once!
