RU-vid hid this reply for review, BUT I’VE FOUND IT NOW. Basically you want to release all input on the left stick a little over halfway through your jump, which will allow the game to land for you
Finally someone who mentions the third person tricks when in first person. Even on a tiny jump it does this, then the camera takes too long to get back
Dude your vids are insanely high quality for your size, I can definitely see tons of growth on this channel in the future. If you keep making RR vids you can be sure that I will be watching. I’ll hopefully see you on October 28th when the game fully releases, if it isn’t delayed again. Who knows we might even get in a race against each other. Keep it up man you are doing fantastic.
The thing that I really liked about Steep was the challenge. To try hard lines/gaps etc. Trying to land surtain tricks and so on. I feel like RR takes the challenge away. Not like in beating the game but creating your own. Also it's way to much of an arcade game if they made it slitely more realistic like Steep it would be awesome.
Dont forget the full game isnt out yet there may be some tough challenges . The physics are different but if you play on manual its kinda realistic because you gave to angle youself to land. I agree with the movement being too fast and responsive not much weight hopefully this gets refined also play on trickster most realistic way to play. The collision and bail needs to be refined to be like steep i agre with rr becoming more casual but i do love some aspects of the game and the map is incredible and gorgeous
@@jeremiahbrown6288 true but the game is fun from an exploration aspect and the bikes are nice and i love the paramotor the controls need touching up but i think im going to enjoy riders republic it offers more content than steep when it comes to multiplayer, and more focus on variation of map.
@@yannickrobert3280 dunno if thats good or bad both games are great ssx for arcade and steep for realism. It kinda makes sense they went the ssx route because people wanted steep to be similar but it wasnt so i think going towards more arcady feel in rr actually makes sense. Why not keep steep for realism and play rr for a more arcady experience.
One of best videos i hv seen period. Editing, humour, info packed in perfectly tense way so ur not overwhelmed, yet not bored. I love it, top10 channels on yt easily.
bro, you’re 16?! damn! you come off as someone ten years older! this is really well done. also, from how you describe it, i’m getting kind of an ea skate versus skater xl vibe. like there is an intuition to the simplified game, but the more realistic game takes that a lot further and adds more control and nuance.
Steep feels like a more polished game, whereas RR looks more diverse visually and also has more variety when it comes to weather and terrain. Overall, RR is obviously the better choice today since it offers the other sports. I'm hoping RR will last for a very long time, unless Ubisoft decides to pull some EA shit and make RR 2 within the next 1.5 years or so.
Ngl, I saw the view count right before I went fullscreen and I just assumed you were an already established/larger RU-vidr. Decided to check comments after video and then saw your sub count. The quality, personalization, and passion for the topic fooled me. Keep doing what you're doing and you'll blow up when the game launches (or whenever the algorithm decides to work for you lol). Regardless, you earned yourself another sub. Good shit, my guy. Keep it up
I feel that because Steep was all winter sports, it was able to flesh things out alot more. While RR has so many options it basically streamlined things making it less complex. While i appreciate this as a casual player, I also love the dedication and effort put into Steep in terms of mechanics and gameplay. Basically if i ever wanna play an extreme sports game ill play RR. If i wanna play a winter exclusive sports game, ill choose Steep. They both have their uses.👌
This game would be so cool if you could have it just be realistic. Not the entire game, but if there was a setting where you couldn’t just reverse flips to land the right way. and stuff like landing on your back switch and still surviving.
You can, but you have to play steep controls with steep land. Otherwise, trying to have on control realistic and the other not is impossible to plag with.
I've played Steep as a filthy casual when it came on psplus and had a good time with it. Never really tried to explore the tricks in-depth as I pretty much "wing it" most of the time. Great job showcasing and explaining in terms of mechanics and fluidity of the two games. As to which I prefer, I will miss the movement and ragdoll mechanics in Steep, as it's become muscle memory for me that might be hard to turn off on. But after some time in the beta, Riders has a plethora of new features that outweigh almost all of those nitpicks. Still two very different games, but I'm definitely gonna miss Steep. Here's hoping they nail the launch.
I agree, I think when you look at RR as a brand new title instead of a successor to steep, the feeling of disappointment fades away and you can enjoy it to it’s full arcady and fun extent. I’m also glad it fixed a ton of the frustrating inconsistencies of the first game, like when you spin slowly for seemingly no reason, or just don’t spin at all
Can you please provide me a single example of the plethora of new features to the tricks system in Riders Republic? Because as far as I'm concerned it only removes features.
@@massivetism bro are you good? Steep was strictly snow. Riders republic has literally everything and they will be adding more. On the year 1 roadmap they said they will add bmx bikes, so im pretty sure a skateboard and some other extreme sports will get added
@@jangalaba4626 okay so, if you read my comment, you'll see that I'm strictly talking about the trick system in comparison to steep. I'm not talking about the number of sports overall. And besides, you're wrong by saying Steep is "strictly snow" because it has wingsuits and other dlc sports as well. I don't know what to say man, Steep was a winter sports game, it makes sense that snowboarding would be a main focus. Wtf even is your point?
@@massivetism Riders trick system is so sloppy and unintuitive compared to Steep. But I'm still learning. It's like 1 step forward with the tricks system but 2 steps back. It's so annoying 😂
How are you not blown up yet! Great video man I played I was frustrated with the new controls and such and it’s hard to play it realistic like I could in steep
Well done on this video! I wish it was longer because the quality and your knowledge rivals some bigger RU-vidrs out there. I've subscribed to you in hopes of showing more RR gameplay when it comes out in October. Good stuff
I was really hoping RR played liked Steep as far as controls. I miss the right stick controls which gave better overall control and feel. Also I found it extremely hard to do a flat spin in RR. I would press left or right and my character would do a flare/cork. Was super annoying. But the game was fun, just hated the controls
Honestly watched this video thinking you were a big time game reviewer or tutorial guy, then you said I’m 16 and I checked your subs. You are defo underrated bro, subbed
What functionalities does the steep configuration limit? I played all throughout the beta and could pull corks, rodeos, bios, and mistys with any grab I wanted
I’m wrong here, at the time I didn’t realize that the layout extended beyond the original steep controls (just rt for jump). Due to this, I was stuck on mistys, frontflips, and backflips. Sorry for any confusion, as it turns out I’m just dim
Weddle grab is a mute grab but has been recently renamed because Chris Weddle wasn't a mute, he was deaf... Also if you stinkbug a Weddle on a board you didn't do a Weddle and if you Weddle on skis you didn't Weddle.
Forgot to mention that in Steep multiplayer, you race against live players. In RR, you only race against players' ghosts/collected data, even in the open world its just players' collected data and ghosts riding around which absolutely kills it for me
Thats the whole reason I wanted to get the game. To do crazy races with hundreds of people but after not liking the controls and finding this out, ill pass until it goes on sale.
Yellow icons in free roam are real players. And online events like mass races are online. Singleplayer events are against ai branded as players. Ghosts of players previous runs are in free roam as white icons.
Wow. This is exactly what I was looking for and I could not have asked for a better comparison. I was thinking I'd try out Rider's Republic but Steep looks like it's more my speed honestly.
RR is a good game, but unfortunately - yes, this is not Steep 2. I liked the atmosphere of mountains and snow in Steep much more than this stupid endless carnival in RR.
I don't mind when people compare and don't get me wrong this is a great video, but at the same time, people compare RRs different sports, to games that are fully dedicated to one. Since RR has different sports it can't fully polish everyone of them, thus having a loss of features compared to other games. I'm sure most people know this, but I thought it might be worth noting.
i was looking for this specifically bc i havent played steep but enjoyed skiing on the riders republic beta. i hope they add a littlebit more depth to it especially butters and more air control like being able to do a single cork 1260 for example. otherwise i might go for steep since its so much cheaper anyways :)
This is the video I was looking for.I was thinking to buy Riders Republic , but now I know its a full arcady game , which I dont like it.Looks beautiful , but I just hate games , that play all the time by it self.I need more , much more challenge.Maybe Ubisoft will add an option , with more realistic , and simulation gameplay
Approval! Also RR’s move and action are more abrupt and stiff, which I really don’t like it when doing tricks and combos, it’s not as smooth as what steep does. And steep feel more natural and quiet, but RR’s just OVER PUNKed and noisy
And by the way the snow in steep is much smoother and elegant I think, but in RR it’s just feel like you are skiing or snowboarding on a big porous white sponge with bumpy surface…..
I just played Riders Republic for the first time, and I very much prefer the control system in Steep. Also, Steep looks a lot more beautiful on screen, if we compare both games in their PS4 versions. I love Steep, but I will have a lot of fun with Riders anyway.
bro the "v=dQw..." i couldve known fUCK great vid tho good job nice work incredible performance and the likes can almost feel the effort leaking out of my screen :)
One annoying thing about steep is that it’s really awkward to do certain grabs without rotating. You have to wait for an arbitrary period and then do the grab. I also like the manual landing mechanic in riders which wasn’t really in steep.
I think rockin lower tier skis with lower rotation speed similar to steep is the best way to play this game. Otherwise you can huck insane fast spins. Although real life skiers are doing crazy fast rotations now a days
I jumped from something arcade as heck, the SSX series, and jumped into steep and it took me a good eight months to get the muscle memory down for the controls on steep. With the closed beta I spent LITERALLY A WHOLE DAY TRYING TO GET THE SAME EXACT CONTROLS I HAD FOR STEEP FOR AN ENTIRE 16 WHOLE HOURS. God hates me. I just hope we can have some more leeway with controller support and actually customizing it fully instead of being stuck on three specific ways and then button mapping for a dark age and a half. Even found out that if you button mapped in a few specific ways, you actually can bug out the controls and they won't function properly. Reported that and it probably went over the support dudes head when I was talking about it. I just hope when it full releases I can get a button setup that won't have me finger cramp after three hours of gameplay. I've never played a game in my life where I could finger cramp so much, probably just my age catching up to me and I'm 25. Or I'm just a spastic gremlin when it comes to controllers.
Also remember that this is a beta so the game will be more polished when it comes out and steep has been out for 4 years so the game had tons of updates to make it better
If It would be just a Downhill game It could be awesome. I can understand that skiing in steep Is better than Riders republic but biking looks so good. The question Is should i spend 70 € Just 4 biking? I Need to think about It. I completely agree with your opinion about the GoPro visual It make no sense. Btw the video is awesome! Great job!
I skate in the summer and snowboard in the winter..... I wasn't really a fan of Steep for some reason, I'm really liking Riders Republic though. I used to play the fuck out of a snowboarding game on Xbox 360, not exactly sure but I believe it was called Amped 2.
but you also have to put in the factor that RR is more of a trick type game then steep, steep had its trick aspects but RR is mainly abt doing tricks so tapping one button to flip stance makes it easier to do more exciting tricks but i also do understand that the realism to steep is way better but that is because steep is suppose to have the realism to it. but good vid and the input from the community will help make the game better in the future.
