Good video. Yes, shuffle steering is a good method while driving slowly or in a moderate pace in the street. It is definitely not a good method for the race track.

Fantastic video. I have a question though. For street driving, how do you place and move your hands to do 1.5 turns (fully lock out a street car wheel) for a right turn or for parking? I can't find any race/professional technique for that extra turn after crossing your arms to maximum.
@ShaneAngRacing
@ShaneAngRacing 2 года назад
Low speed corners will not snap as easy as high speed bends. So if u are just using for uturns and parking. The 3 9 steering is not needed.

This video IS AMAZING! I've been scratching around to find all these answers!!! Thank you so so much! My one question is how tightly should you grip the steering wheel???
@ShaneAngRacing
@ShaneAngRacing 4 года назад
U should always keep ur shoulders relaxed. U should grip the steering wheel lightly too. If u grip the wheel too tight, ur muscles will be tense and it will affect the speed of your steering response. The trick is to keep ur shoulders relaxed and lowered.

It is such an informative video. Though I have a question, now DCT and automatic transmission switch gears much faster than manual transmissions. Why do many pro drivers still prefer to drive a manual transmission in competitive racing? What are the pros and cons of manual vs. DCT & Automatic in competitive racing?
@jhan9964
@jhan9964 2 года назад
Is it just because of the weight of the car?
@ShaneAngRacing
@ShaneAngRacing 2 года назад
Weight of the gearbox makes a very big difference. When we race. Our car is pushed to the limits for many laps. Sometimes we go full sprinting mode for hours. auto gearboxes tend to overheat easily. Weight. Durability. Cost. Etc.... many factors
@danielmartin7751
@danielmartin7751 2 года назад
Automatic trans do not perform as well under sustained high rpms loads and heat. They do perform well in one lap/time trials events though, and have started to show up more and more in builders events like GLTC and global time attack series etc. 😀
@MrWinterblade
@MrWinterblade 2 года назад
Awesome video! The only problem with this technique is that if you are not on a racetrack (on the road) the corners are sharper and you need to lift your hands from 3-9 position. How do you correctly steer on the road?
@ShaneAngRacing
@ShaneAngRacing 2 года назад
I dont use it all the times when I am on the roads because I dont drive near the limits on the roads. Unless theres a need to. I will lock and anchor my Master Arm. And release 1 hand.

@1TigeRRacing1

amazing bro thanks , why in drift cars they shuffle ?
@ShaneAngRacing
@ShaneAngRacing 2 года назад
Because modern drifting uses alot more steering angles. And unlike reactive correction in racing, drifters induce the slide themselves, so the slide is a lot more easy to predict.

@@ShaneAngRacing thank you for sharing and answering i thought im drifting wrong . 🤣
@VictorLiew
@VictorLiew 6 лет назад
I do agree with u about letting the steering go during oversteer, but what happens when it comes to drifting wise? Sorry no offence intended
@ShaneAngRacing
@ShaneAngRacing 6 лет назад
ya bro... I forgot to add this into the video.... this doesn't apply to drifting or gymkhana. Well, gymkhana is relatively safe due to very low speeds but In Drifting, these masters intentionally throw the car sideways or more and many of the cars are modded to have crazy steering angles. So it actually is not possible to hold the wheel in a fixed position. Because clocking fast timing is not the target of drifting, they let the car totally lose traction(which is not the fastest way to take a corner) and waited for the speed to slow down to a point where the traction comes back. I have huge respect for this drifters as it is not something I can do yet. When we watch NOB taniguchi drifts, he intentionally throw the wheel without the racer's grip. But when he is in the time attack. He immediately changed back to the usual grip. Well, i think that the key to be fast is to make use of as much traction as possible and always keep urself within the max traction. so to correct all the micro slides, we need to have fast reflexes and consistently adjust along the corners to keep the car within that line. So this video is about being fast and safe on the track. Really thank you for pointing out. Our later episodes will cover drifting as we will be attending a drifting school! hahaha

for rear wheel drive/front wheel drive, do i continue to step throttle while trying to get my car back from losing control?
@ShaneAngRacing
@ShaneAngRacing 6 месяцев назад
I can't give a correct answer because there are too many variables to your question. If its losing traction due to rwd powersliding. Lifting off may cause a snap oversteer immediately if ur steering wheel is facing the opposite direction. But if u are running out of track already. Continuing to power on will fly u out of the track. Will need to be very specific of the situation for me to answer correctly... keeping the right steering hold will help u react better btw....

Unless u have precise control and confidence that u don't need more than 1 rotation to correct. Then u can try. But the maximum rotation u can do with 1 hand is different in bother directions.

A question I have is that what if I had taken the wrong line and more steering input is required to get the car around the corner, in that case what should I do?
@ShaneAngRacing
@ShaneAngRacing 5 лет назад
It really depends on wat is the situation. If u have went wider than u should due to overspeeding, turning more will actually make the understeer worst. Reducing speed by lifting throttle or braking will help alot. If u are going offline not due to speed but due to lack of steering input, then I would suggest turning more. This tend to happen when the eyes are looking at the attack spot but the hands did not follow and steer towards it. Haha. The most ideal way is to draw a mental/imaginery ideal line and do your best to keep ur car parallel to it.
@gotthezest5315

@ShaneAngRacing
@ShaneAngRacing 5 лет назад
@@gotthezest5315 actually there are alot of details to go thru. But I always like to advise my racers that the steering wheel is just the guide of the car. Whether the car able to turn, follow the line or not, weight shifts and under/oversteer is all on the throttle control.
