@@jonihamalainen2228 Planica can have record any day. Slovenian constructed Vikersund and let them have the record, but the hill is almost at it's full potential. While in Planica everything is prepared for 300m jumps in the years to come. But not because they want it in Planica, it just happens that Planica has the best conditions in the world. That's why i mentioned that Slovenian has constructed Vikersund, it was made on purpose with no crying that Planica is now officialy not the biggest hill. Janez Gorišek said that Slovenians and Planica need to really wish for that record and don't think of it as obvious. He also said when the record returns in Planica it will stay there for decades.
Everything that has been said here is wrong.. In fact, they had to flatten out the bottom of the hill because of issues with the maximum hight difference. There have been some more changes which I am not too familiar with but that's all I know and it's mostly correct. No one wants to force the WR back to Planica with that, basically it's just that the hill in Vikersund has been a bit too big up until 2018 according to FIS regulations. Some would say that the records should be declared as inofficial then but that also wouldn't feel right.
Oh oh we are talking ingeneering here. On the old hill it was impossible to just dig in and expect long flights. First of all the hill was not on perfect location or in other words it needed to be moved for something like 10 degrees to the right side so the whole construction was destroyed in order to do so. Secondly Vikersund does not have great conditions for flying, neither do Kulm or Oberstdorf. The perfect place is in Planica, almost always very good conditions and that is why in Planica there are a lot of jumps over 240m every year unlike in other places. The most imoprtant thing here is that the Slovenian Janez Gorišek who constructed the flying hill in Planica also renewed hill in Vikersund and also Kulm. So thanks to the legend, vikersund today is what it is, but as i said it is already close to full potential. They have prepared it in the way it can be digged for another 10-20m at the very best, while for Planica he left behind the whole plane for 300m long hill and longer. Planica lays in the perfect valley and as said by him, there is no better place for skyflying in the world as it is in Planica. At this point i would like to say that sadly, two days ago Janez Gorišek passed away at the age of 90. Because of him we enjoy skyflying today. Rest in peace.
@@timprex317 honestly, there is no info in this essay of yours. so why did they renew the vikersund landing so there are no more world records possible? why cant you land after 250metres nowadays but you could a few years back? what did they change and why?
@@sigibergmann9356 i have no idea why they did it. But i was talking about major renewal not minor. The Major renewal took place from around 2009-2011, destroying the old hs200 and build the new hs240. Check it out on yt.
Just remember, Schlierenzauer also jumped there totally out of the stadium and after that they rebuilt this hill. Hope that history can sometimes repeat ironically :)
If the ski jump had not been rebuilt because of the current requirements of the FIS, so that 250 metres are almost flat, Stefan Kraft would have slipped down to the 253 again
