Thank you so much for all the great instructions. I heard your Mozart Violin Concerto no. 5 in Tanglewood concert, and it was so beautiful! All your tips are very essentials for my daughter. She doesn’t vibrate all the notes. My daughter had a competition playing the Viotti Concerto 22 and a jury noticed that even though she tuned to the piano that her pitch was higher than the piano. Do you have tips on how to adjust with the piano? Her theory teacher told me that she has a perfect pitch, but it doesn’t help her that much in playing the violin. I am not a musician.

Yes, it’s quite easy to get sharp compared to the piano, even after tuning to the piano. The only real remedy is to rehearse more frequently with piano and practice actively listening to pitch as compared to piano’s during these rehearsals. Have the pianist stop when they hear a note out of tune and ask your daughter to adjust the pitch. This will make her ears more sensitive and will allow her to adjust sharpness more quickly in performance.
