Yo, Jeet Kune Do stance & foot works are based on principles of western fencing & boxing. (period) I see more & more professional fighters(boxing included) are using strong side forward because of B.Lee's influences & proven logistics. Sifu Ted Wong is a true martial artist & a master at his craft. Constantly honing his skills & evolving. Yo, y'all, It's NOT about the MORE (techniques) but the QUALITY & EFFICIENCY!. peace!
Love to see Sifu Ted Wong teaching and doing his thing , but I turn voice down so dont have to listen to that music . Wish you could hear Sifu Ted talking especially since he is no longer with us .
From 1959-1963, Bruce Lee's focus was blasting the crap out of a perspective opponent by using modified Wing Chun hand and foot techniques. Seattle Era student James DeMile called it Bruce Lee's "two seconds" philosophy. Lee began to incorporate boxing punches and footwork during the Oakland Era and by 1967, he began to use the footwork demonstrated by Ted Wong in this video. Chinatown Era students have stated that Bruce began every class by emphasizing the importance of footwork.
bruce lee did not believe in styles seems like you are referring to that what ever he used he always modified it to make his own so it did not become a style.
@@kyleday5026 Lee's original JKD had a specific structure, but it was an adaptable fighting system that allowed his students to focus on their respective strengths. For example, Ted Wong focused on JKD's Fencing footwork in order to dart in and out of the fighting measure whereas the much bigger Bob Bremer focused on the Hammer Principle and the lead leg obstruction to crash the line.
@@pjtheory hi from Bruce Lee students I hear that he modified the systems a lit from fencing boxing etc so was not exactly copying also what did Bruce Lee modify from fencing footwork. Also it would be different for each person because it is a personal art aimed at the individual.
How can one NOT be obsessed with footwork?!?! Fighting is all about footwork! Fighting is about creating a situation where you can hit the opponent but he cant hit you.
@SteFanJKD omg i started playing around with the push step advance and kick and omg my lead ho0k kick is that much faster cant wait to try it in sparring tomorrow(TKD) and i tried the retreat its so much quicker that way my questions are on the side steps and turning do u push off the opposite foot or is it one foot moves then the other follows
aYO, Me thinks Sifu Wong is giving too much away on video. Most people don't deserve it, only a few that have earned it. aYO, I patiently waited almost 15 yrs. to train with Sifu Wong privately & also seminars. Most people don't appreciate & understand what he has to offer,caught-up politics & intellectual mumbo, jumbo, or intellectually constipated. peace!
