My mom sang this to a 6 year old me on a very rough time for me. For complex reasons I started to fall into depression, stopped eating and she told me I even stopped playing and just lay in the couch, crying. I can't even imagine her heart breaking looking at me like that. She comforted me singing and taught me to draw my eyes to our Lord. Now I'm a grown man, and a father, and this song makes me tear every time I listen to it, and can feel her arms and her love like it was yesterday. (':

I also listened to this song while dealing with childhood depression and anxiety. I first heard it when I was probably younger than 5, but it resonated with me so deeply that I would never forget the first time I heard it.

2022 was one of the most trying years of my life. I replayed this song more than I can count , and in that moment of frustration and a restless heart, this song reminded me that I don't have to do it alone, that was never the intention. I can still do moments of tension with God , because His desire is to pull me out of them. My brother reminded me of this song today. And even today, it makes sense to cast my cares. So anytime I dont know what to do , like today, it's still a better decision to cast my cares on God.

I have to wonder if you husband is related to Phil and Joanne Gretzinger from Maine? Back in the 60's-70's, we were raised by my great aunt on pension. Phil & Joanne always sent her money each month to help out. They never ceased or complained; and would come down to visit maybe once a year (they called themselves the 'Mainiacs'. lol). I will never forget going to Arlington Cemetery with them, all the soldiers would stop and salute him since he was a retired officer. They would likely be a great uncle or maybe great grandfather to your husband. But I will never forget how loving and kind they were.

This song brought me great comfort when I was a child. I dealt with anxiety, even back then. The sad thing is, people will criticize adults for “not having enough Faith” because they feel scared, but why? People don’t say that to a child. Why is it okay for a child to be scared, but not an adult? We don’t magically develop an immunity to fear and anxiety when we grow up. Even Jesus experienced fear-on a rather extreme level in the Garden of Gethsemane.
