British artists don't have success in usa??? Sade, Craig David, Omar, Soul II Soul, Des'ree, Billy Ocean, Ms Dynamite, Shirley Bassey and these are just SOME of the successful black British musicians who also influenced American artists
Arguably, British 'street music' has had very little mainstream success. The artist you mention are all crossover artist who don't use UK specific slang and are very palatable across a wide spectrum of people from many countries maybe with the exception of Ms Dynamite who isn't on the same mainstream level as someone like Sade.

Grime/UK music doesn't need to change ANYTHING about the slang or accent.....it's the reason why it's FINALLY so successful because people stopped trying to pander to Americans and kept it real to the UK and to themselves. So proud of the scene here!
