Great review!, I own the Wildlife 8x42 for static or vehicle spotting and I am looking for something more compact/ lighterf for tracking and hunting. This is just the ticket: for rugedness, waterproof and feel.
I've just ordered a pair (not from optics trade so not their fault if it goes wrong) to try out and keep if any good. I happen to have a Zeiss 8x25 Victory Pocket so interesting to see how they compare though I'm not expecting them to be as good as the Zeiss which is superb but I hope close. I've recently returned a Leica 10x25 and also a Zeiss Terra 10x25 as they were both poor. Leica had bad stiff & jerky focus, small eyecups & lots of glare and Zeiss was just rubbish optically every which way but I think I got a very bad example, came from China and not Japan as was usually the case with Zeiss like the Victory which is impeccably put together. Will update if I remember.
Ended up getting a Swarovski 8x25 instead and it was crap with bad collimation so that's another return. So many bad binoculars out there and I wasn't paying £500 for a binocular that was awful to use though it did have good points like the glass, coatings, build and smooth focus etc but the view was wonked and it just annoyed. Very narrow tunnely keyhole view also which I didn't like. Maybe the Steiner is no worse?
